2024_05_10 Chicks are ready to fledge any time in next few days

Eyes are fully open, lots of movement outside the nest cup. Fledging can happen between 15 and 22 days after hatching, so this could start happening in the next few days.

One at a time, two large flies come into the nest box, each startled by the chicks. The parents either don't notice or they don't mind.

Day 9 since hatching began. Feathers are coming in nicely (no more scraggly mohican hairdos) - very hungy chicks are becoming more competitive. Eyes are still shut.
