that's what we bought and no regrets!
Great tutorial and finally one that shows us how to take the sway bars off with ease !!! We purchased a new trailer with the TrackPro and realized no one showed us how to take them off when we got home, but we figured it out.
Great, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Car Team if you have any further questions!
Just a note. The breakaway cable should be attached to the truck or hitch, NOT to the safety chain.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Great instructional video. Thanks.
When I am not towing, I cannot get my Blue Ox to slide in slot to lay side ways. What am i doing wrong?
Hi Elaine, give our Customer Care Department a call, and they can help you with your specific issue. Phone, email or Live chat all available on blueox.com
So what do you do if we follow every thing you did but when we lower everything at final point but your tongue height is lower than the starting point would you suggest going to 10th or 11th link or use airbags if you have them to get to original height???? Im having lots of sway
Will you let me know your email or phone number and I will have Customer Care get ahold of you. They can tell you how to set up to eliminate the sway.
My RV dealer installed this last week and put it at the 5th link, No wonder it swayed like crazy on the way home 🤦
Why this over a swaypro?
Each has specific applications, so one isn't over the other. The difference is in the latches that hook to the trailer. If you have questions about which would be best for your application, we suggest you give our Customer Care team a call and they can walk you through it.
@blueoxproducts thanks already bought the sway pro so hopefully I made the right choice.
does this work for overslung and underslung hitches?
Yes, we have applications for both. Contact our Customer Care Dept, and they will suggest the correct model for your setup.
So don’t worry about ball angle. It’s really pitched forward and every other manufacturer says to get it pitching slightly backwards?
Why does it seems like WD hitch are common for RV. But not common for other trailers?
Weight distribution (WD) hitches are popular for RVs as they redistribute heavy loads to enhance towing safety and stability. It is crucial for managing the larger, heavier RVs at high speeds or in windy conditions. However, they can be used with any trailer to improve control and handling, making them versatile for various towing needs.
Rey good video…cleared up the confusion of the written instructions. 👍
You said to disengage air ride suspension when first setting up the hitch. At what point do you re-engage it?
Do I need new bolts if I adjust to a new position? (Got a new truck)
No, you do not need new bolts unless you see unusual wear or if the lock washers are spread out. Just retorque to 250 ft. lbs.
What's the part number?
No…unless you have some sort of driveline disconnect. The tow bar results in all 4 wheels rolling. Even if you put your automatic in neutral, your transmission will be destroyed because the lubrication pump is not circulating the ATF fluid to all the parts your forcing to spin by pulling it on the road. Now if you wanted to leave your engine running in neutral while you tow… you might be ok… please don’t do that.
This video is terrible. No words on adjusting anything. No mention of how to load and unload the bars
Adjustments begin at :53. Loading at 3:26. Hope that helps.
@@blueoxproducts how do you know if you need to add more washers? Are my bars taking too much load? How do I know?
At 2:30 it says to leave the top hole open in the L-bracket and is installed as such. But in the end the top hole is used to attaching the L bracket after all. Why the change?
This is a great video, very complete. As I get ready to tow and travel for the first time my question is, what happens when you have a 1,000 pound load in the truck? Do you have to go through the leveling process again? Clearly the load will cause a dip in the level of where "perfectly level" load is, I am curious if this becomes an ongoing issue?
I need to haul a 14 foot school bus 🚌. tank you for you answer. God bless.
Awesome video definitely a keeper for reference.
No safety chains
Safety chains are not a legal requirement with the use of a 5th Wheel Hitch.
I was a little bit nervous after reading people saying it's semi-dangerous when releasing the tension. As long as you jack the truck/trailer after they are connected as high as reasonably possible, I don't see how anyone could think the tension is much to deal with using the included bar. Common sense here, but also position the bar in such a way that if it does kick on you for some reason it will throw itself on the ground, not into your face. I found it extremely easy and safe.
Great video, should have watched this before going through the manual. All the terminology is confusing to a newbie and the video does an incredible job explaining what needs to be done.
Thank you!
I hate videos like this. Don’t tell you shit.
Confused....the disclaimer says you must install the locking kit on roto-flex pin boxes, but there was clearly no lock out kit installed on the pin box in this video??? So is it not necessary with roto-flex or is it?
Hi Brad, the install video was shot before we were done testing with the roto-flex lockout, so yes, the locking kit is recommended.
Great Teacher. Excellent communication skills.
I absoutely love our BO Sway Pro. My only minor complaint was the small/hazardous wrench that came with mine. I use breaker bar with a socket anyway. A quick tip if you misplace the wrench... block about 6" under the jack and get the rear tires right off the ground (chock fronts and use parking brake). Once you take that entire load off the bars, you can remove bats/chains or put them on with bare hands. I've done it many times - actually about 3hrs ago to show it can be done safely. 1000lb bars with 30ft TT.
I just had this installed by general rv and they have the brackets on the tongue at almost a 45 degree angle...i asked them if this was right and they told me it's supposed to be that way yet on here, it's straight up and down
Hi Rob, have you reached out to Customer Care? They can help you determine if it is correctly setup for your rig? You can find all the ways to reach us on blueox.com.
@@blueoxproducts I did reach out to Blue Ox and an happy to report that Blue Ox stepped in and forced the dealership to fix the issue. You guys are amazing! Thank you
Who do I contact with concerns? Had set up professionally weighed was told to go to 11th chain… not comfortable so have put at 10 but still see a “shift” at the inside cam connection with the A frame… thanks
Hi Beth, you can find all the ways to reach us at blueox.com. Phone, live chat, or email. Thanks!
Customer service was great for me before I even bought mine. I had questions about weight ratings and the young lady was very knowledgeable. I found the phone number on the website.
Can i town an automatic car with the ox blue bar?
Question: If I connect the 10 or 11 chain link instead of the recommended 9 chain link,, does it take additional weight off the rear axle of the tow vehicle and distribute more of the weight to the trailer axles?
Yes more pressure on the front of the tow vehicle and trailer. But you also put more stress on the trailer frame it’s a trade off. Blue Ox may correct me if I have misspoken.

I have this Blue Ox but I haul a 31 ft toy hauler with 2 Harleys. I was not happy with the amount of sway. Trailer was all over the place. So with the added weight in the rear of the RV what adjustments should I make to Blue Ox?
Hi Brent, have you tried reaching out to our Customer Care Department? They can help you assess your issue.
I have the same issue with my trailer. I honestly started to think that the Blue Ox was not a sway control hitch. I am considering going to the Weigh Safe hitch as I have had good luck with them. Have you had any luck with the Blue Ox or did you choose another option?
@johnturner9924 did you ever figure out your sway issues having the same problem with our toy hauler even with nothing in the garage Thanks for any info
It also won the comparison test on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/Cuak0OskYPU/v-deo.html
After trying several brands Blue Ox SwayPro is my favorite. My last comparison to another popular brand is on my UA-cam channel.
ua-cam.com/video/Cuak0OskYPU/v-deo.html It’s the only hitch I will use on my Airstream and I’ve tried others.
ua-cam.com/video/Cuak0OskYPU/v-deo.html I’m definitely a Blue Ox fan!
I’ve got the under frame hitch. Didn’t realize that until going to pick it up. Put the L brackets at lowest point, but it was a real pull to get the bars on. I found 3 2x4’s to go under the jack for preload. My question is how do you know how close the L bracket should be to the bar. I am looking for long brackets but no luck. Terrible expensive compared to the normal ones!!!! $30 vs $100.
Best hitch made IMHO. Light bars that have good spring to them it really does the trick for me when it comes to weight distribution and sway control. Set it up right and don’t drive like a fool!
Anyone else having trouble torquing the bolts to 250ft/lbs? I have a torque wrench that goes that high, but I can't get past 160ft/lbs. even with a breaker bar!
Put the bolts In through the right side so you push down not pull up. Much easier but 250 sounds high for a grade 5 3/4 bolt I would think 200?
@@Pawildsbigfootedition talked to Blue Ox and they confirmed that they dropped it from 257 to 250. I ended up buying a pipe to extend my breaker bar & get more leverage and that did the trick.
Great video
Why don’t built one with oem puck system…..
I have a Jayco Eagle using the 1,300 lb spring bars and my hitch is under slung. I have to raise the trailer tongue with hitch, pretty high and I’ve still got a difficult time with the S wrench! Do I need to change out the L brackets for the ones with extra adjustable holes to lower them? I can’t believe it’s this hard to install spring bars!
Hi Frank, we were going to direct you to CustomerCare, but it sounds like you already found your way there!
@@blueoxproducts I sure did! Love your customer service, many companies could take lessons. Rebekah is the best of the best!
I kike the design but it seems like a hassle having to torque the nuts down each time.
Back up without disconnecting?
Yes. I have one. No problem at all backing up 👍
According to the instructions from my Blue Ox TrackPro rated for 600lbs of tongue weight, it says to "Center the L bracket mounting holes on the backing plate over the marked area so that the offset is towards the front of the trailer on each side." It appears the backing plates in this video are just the opposite of that. Is it ok to flip the backing plate in either orientation? Thanks!
Yes, you can flip, for the Airstream Version, specifically with the Basecamp we advise the reverse position.
should the safety brake cable be shorter than the chains so that the brakes would activate if trailer came off?
The chains will be short enough that the trailer connector won't fall out of the vehicle, so the brakes will still work from the tow vehicle. The breakaway cable is the last defense for if the trailer completely departs the tow vehicle. If the trailer brakes activated fully while still somewhat attached to the tow vehicle via chains, the tow vehicle is more likely to lose control and crash.
Great job. Thank you!
