This large flock was heading East over central Shasta County on 20 April 2022. Can anyone tell us if they are geese, swans, or cranes? A few calls can be heard on the video, if you turn up the volume. Thanks!

Big Bend meets Florida!

the pond you see at the surface is not directly connected to the actual spring tap. The actual tap is approximately 8 or 10 feet below the bottom of the pond. We drained the pond last year to test this. The pond fills from surface runoff collection and from subsurface seepage from the spring(s) below. We have done about half a dozen coliform tests on the spring water and it has zero fecal coliforms. The general coliform count is low when there are any general coliforms present.

Is there a seasonal drainage in there that runs to the pool above the spring? If so, there should be an automatic setback. If they cut the slope above the spring, the potential damage to the cold-water spring from erosion and spraying of poisons is unacceptable!
