2 stroke Detroits is where the saying "Dragon Fly" came from. Because it was dragging ass trying to get up a hill and then flying down the other side trying to make up time lost crawling up the hill!! They sound cool but they ain't much fun to drive.
You can actually use the crawler gear in high range to takeoff when running bobtail you know. Just make sure when shifting from the crawler you don't accidentally bang it into HR 3rd instead of HR1st. My ole 2002 KW with a 600 Cummins Sig you could takeoff like this with a single heavy 9200kg extendable trailer if it was unloaded. Empty tankers are at least 4t less heavy again.
I love the sounds of a Detroit 8v92 2 stroke engine and the Jake bark Unfortunately here in Feilding New Zealand 🇳🇿 it's becoming a very rare sounds now you can still hear the Jake bark but not the 2 stroke bite
