Harbor Freight Mini Lathe Review - Great for Restorations and small Projects
Hardly a mirror polish. It’s just slightly shiny. Look at all the scratches
How would I go about removing but bulbs that were glued in, and the glue goat that someone added glitter too? I know the bulbs are glued as I can visibly see it, but I don't know if I should use good be gone or what.
Long-term, how has it done? I ask because I bought three identical machines (branded for a UK-based supplier - but I'm betting that they are *all* made in the same factory in China). And four months later, they *all* failed - within a week or two of each other. In the same way. The bearings on the motors just weren't up to anything more strenuous than some occasional light use, and certainly couldn't cope with being run for several days at a time (and mine were only dealing with plastic products and media). I went mad and bought a slightly smaller US-made tumbler for four times as much money. But just glancing at the motor in there makes me think that it will last a lot longer.
How do I get the base off to change the blub? It seems to be stuck. Thanks
Where did you get the star and new lights?
has anyone located a source for the plastic gear
How do you get broken bulbs out of the tree that have been glued? I’ve tried heat gun. No luck
Finally got my 50 piece set
Did you submerge the tree in water to clean it ?
That isn't light snow to me!
I'm thinking of picking up a Dremel today for about the same applications - knives, tools I sharpen on my TSPROF...
Hello. I realize this is an old video. Can you or anyone tell me where I can get that knife?
Can’t find part 2 or 3…
Aluminium pommel, flimsy guard.. seems to be more a novelty knife from 60s or 70s than a true WWII knife. 😅
No sound
Looks like a PAL Mark I........
Where can I find small tools for mine like you have ... Can't seem to find them anywhere
I'm always interested in what other people do to modify and customize their machine, there's still some more I want to do to my own.
Cool. More videos like this. WW2.
As you say Sir, this mini lathe is perfect for smaller projects, my son bought it for me to make my fishing floats easier to construct. It has done this in spades, literally halving construction times. Best buy in many a year
What’s even happening here, I see the bottle I’m trying to see in the thumbnail yet there’s just a mysterious no labeled chemical bowl and a motor. I’m not convinced this video is helpful in any way other than to show how a motor is taken apart and cleaned with what could be any universal cleaner
I have this model, and the cord is cut but it runs, I spliced an extension cord to test it. If I replace the whole wire, could you make it two prong like yours or did yours never have a ground? Thanks.
Excellent work
Nice work
Were the included carving tools any good or did you buy new ones? I bought it from your review to make Victorian Doll House furniture and other stuff. Thanks
I have one in almost similar condition, but has a cracked and missing piece that on one scale, and was wondering what the cost of restoration would be, I'm not a collector, just wound up with this one some where in my life. Maybe it's not even worth saving.
Beautiful result on the knife but I wonder if there is a way to get rid of that dark area on the sheath? Maybe sand and then use shoe polish? Anyway, you'd get a much better sharpening result with a Spderco Sharpmaker with the additional Ultra-fine additional ceramic rods.
One thing I learned through many years of school… listen to yourself talk so you realize how many times you say, “okay”. When we listen, or have someone keep track of how many times we repeat something, like “um” for instance (not you btw), we become consciously aware and can improve/correct ourselves. Just a tip and good for you if you already did this!
Sporterizing 100+ year firearms= 10-25 years sentence for destroying historical values
I’m confused by your stropping method 🤔
I would like to have a repair on a broken branch. Are you still doing?
Turn the tool rest around for better tool control and safety - it is too far from the wood.
Can you do a video making a pen?
Thank you so much for Sharing ❤
Hi, like all the others I really enjoyed this video, i have a couple trees that I've been blessed to have picked up over the years. The holes are too small and most of the lights dont fit, i'm guessing cause the glaze got down inside and made them too tight? I saw you using a drill like tool to grind the hole in the top of the tree you were fixing. are you using a special bit? I was hoping i could just weezle out some space in the tree light holes ...what are your thoughts i was also imagining grinding the little plastic light stems to fit? What would you do? Thanks for any ideas :)
Buy smaller bulbs
A junk knife
Thanks for the review
Thank you for making the video, I'm new to this.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing. What exactly was the mandrel you used on the drill to to hold the ring while sanding the edge down?
good
Is there no audio?
What a gorgeous tree!! You did so well restoring it!! I’ll be taking a hand at restoring a tree my mom picked up for me for $3 (23 inches). I remember my grandparents having one when I was little but no one knows what happen to it! I’m very excited about it now after watching your video!!
Excellent way to mix with the bit in drill. For non water based wood filler I recommend acetone. Thanks for your video.
Good job...nice improvements! I'm going to try the Do-All+ to repair the broken top of my ceramic Christmas tree. A year has gone by since this restoration. How does the Rust-oleum clear coat look now? Is it still adhering to the ceramic surface (flaking/crinkling)...has it discolored?
I work in a machine shop. I love these antique gauges. I just started collecting micrometers. Super cool seeing a physical gauge measure out minutes. Great video!
Good tune man
Love this! Im new to this, do you have recommended hand tools for this lathe?
Thanks for the review. I have seen others and they all were positive about this lathe.
Awesome job! My first knife was an Imperial Fish model with a clip point blade, fish scaler, hook sharpener, and yellow scales. I broke the tip off of the main blade when I was a kid. I’d love to restore mine, but I have no idea where to get replacement pins for reassembly.
Hi! Just bought a Viking grinder and found your video. Very helpful😀But unfortunatebly the 10" weel broke and I also need some other parts. It seems that Grizzly dosen't sell this parts anymore. Do you know some other places that have them. I try to find in europe but haven't found someting yet. Best regards from Sweden/Petra
