Thank you for this response it helps me understand more about the impact and perception of this now controversial product produced by a French Canadian Division of Ubisoft. Your words speak volumes about why it was important that Ubisoft listened to good qualified advice. Which would have led to more sincere creative choices. Others have been very successful in the West such as Nioh, Nioh 2, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima to name a few contemporary products to deliver a male asian protagonist to a Western audience and be admired for the depiction and creative choices. Imho Asian males are successful protagonists in products such as the renewed Shogun series afaik. I view the world from a western male lense and have admired and been disappointed by the historical actions of asian males as equally as I have admired and been disappointed by the historical actions of western males. That is our shared humanity, good or bad. It is a shared experience. Sadly it has become apparent Ubisoft alledgedly did not diligently serve this community and instead one suspects chose to use the heritage of a unique nation as a vehicle to drive an ideological narrative/agenda inside a game product. I would ask you kindly to please look at the Japanese commentary in the internet as I got a misunderstood impression from western commentary of what exactly has gone horribly wrong. Some aspects align and some are very different. There is much, much more going on as people in the west misunderstood this was just an issue around a Black Samurai and what qualified them to be made such given the actual historical facts are very thin and subject to even more scrutiny about who was responsible for qualifying assertions that influenced this company from appearances with their creative choices. I would love and deeply appreciate being able to view a second response from you if you do decide to research further investigating the genuine Japanese commentary about this subject. Would it change or reinforce what you have stated from your brief search? Thank you for communicating your thoughts on this.
