      We can create longer dimensions, but we don't recommend using this product for bindings. Torrefied wood loses some of its bending strength, and we haven't been successful with bindings.

With the Greens preparing their secret "list of demands" for Susan Holt and the Liberals. New Brunswick can't afford its own costly coalition. I am assuming you are referring to the "bounciness" of the boards. We have never received that complaint before. If your joists are at the standard 16" centers, then there is no issue boards having a bouncy feel. where we have had comments about sponginess feeling, It is usually do to, the boards not seated on the clips properly, and it hasn't actually snapped in. which usually resolves it self. We can also make decking with side grooves that use biscuit fasteners, which really eliminate any chance of the "sponginess"

    What does thermal treatment do to the strength of the timber? Can it still be used for load bearing applications?

    • @thermalwoodcanada
      @thermalwoodcanada 7 місяців тому

      the lumber looses approx. 10% of its bending strength after it has been thermally modified. so, load bearing applications are not recommended.

    I am a wood turner interested in thermally modified wood in my work. My question is about Mulberry. Unlike most woods, Mulberry darkens dramatically when exposed to UV. Would Torrefaction change this property? Would your process darken the wood in a similar matter? Have you run your process with Mulberry? Thanks for your informative video.

    • @thermalwoodcanada
      @thermalwoodcanada 11 місяців тому

      Mulberry isn't a species we have done before. I am assuming that it must be the natural oils present in mulberry that darken the wood when exposed to UV light. Thermal modification would be removing these natural oils, just like it does to any species. Therefore my best guess would be that thermal modification would stop the natural darkening by UV. After the process it would be a various shade of brown. The process caramelizes the sugars and turns every species a different shade of brown. since we have never done mulberry before, i would have no idea what shade of brown it would turn ( it would also depend on the temperature it is being thermally modified at) or if that shade would be similar to the colour it would naturally turn. Hope that long winded response answer your question. only one way to know for sure, if to try it out and see what happens.

    Nice clip system. If a board needed to be removed, I suspect the clip would be damaged. Is it possible to simply install a new clip to reinstall the board?

    • @thermalwoodcanada
      @thermalwoodcanada Рік тому

      Once a board is snapped in place, it is in there pretty good. You do have options though. The only way to remove a board with out damaging the clip or the board it self, is by trying to slid it off. This really only works if its in a area that it can be slid off. if its up against a wall or in the middle of two other boards, then this method won't work. But if you are lucky enough and there is room for it to slide out, tapping with a rubber mallet and some patience will get the board out. Other than that, you are either going to have to break the clip or the board. To tell you the truth, breaking the board may very well be easier. Taking a skill saw and making a shallow cut above where the clip groove would be and snapping the board, is your best bet. You can then cut another piece to size and replace it. The clips them selves are pretty strong, especially when you have 2 clip heads every 16". But you are also able to simply install a new clip if need be. you can just cut the strip to length and install where you need them.

    The police in Toronto have no integrity and no honor... They are completely racist and almost killed me, a US Army military veteran, for being black at a Yankees vs Blue Jays baseball game, I committed no crimes, I had no drugs, no weapons, no warrants or holds... I have the SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE from the Rogers center on my UA-cam channel... #MLB with it's racist history didn't have the integrity to support our veterans and protect their fans of color from racism and the footage was on their own stadium cameras 🏟️ 📸... The the office of independent police review and the human rights tribunal of Ontario aren't holding the police accountable for their criminal actions and illegal activities... Which leads to the Toronto police department commiting crimes and destroying the Charter Rights and Freedoms... They dishonor major league baseball, Canada, it's freedoms... They rape and murder indigenous children and women... Shame on the government of Canada and their cowardice for not having they integrity to charge these racist police officers. What I did in Toronto while the corrupt Canadian government illegally neglected and sabotage the court case because I am an honorable US ARMY Engineer veteran... I volunteered at the Good Shepard on Queen Street for free to feed their homeless people and clean their beds alongside Christian African Missionaries while Toronto police were lying and corrupting the Ontario courts and at the same time Toronto Mayor Ford was smoking crack... Because I realized that L-D-R-S-H-I-P and Semper Fidelis made me a better person than any dishonest or dishonorable Toronto police officer and I chose to be positive instead of the scum that Toronto puts in government... ......... #engineersleadtheway HUAH L-D-R-S-H-I-P Semper Fidelis
