Poona Freshwater Bass
Fishing Poona Creek in the Sandy Straits for Australian Bass in a creek famous for every thing but Bass.
I've fished this spot for many years, producing many Bass to the 50cm mark. Even had one that was tagged recaptured in the Noosa River. Thought it was time to share with everyone.

Noosa River Bass, camping at Camp 4.
Переглядів 6222 роки тому
The beautiful Noosa River, swimming, kayaking, fishing, hiking and camping. There's so much to see and do. We start at Harry's Hut and paddle to the Walkers Camp and back.
Sooty Grunter at Funnel Creek Queensland
Переглядів 9883 роки тому
I travel north to Funnel Creek. I spent 5 days here, it rained for 2 and I spent another just laying around. I did however spend two days fishing. I lost my Spotters on the first day, they are still there somewhere. Over the week plenty of campers and nomads spent a night or two and on the weekend, locals came to swim. The site has no facilities, you can have fires and there's bins and the camp...
Ficks Crossing at Murgon done differently
Переглядів 1,8 тис.4 роки тому
I travel to Murgon to fish Ficks Crossing. I fished the first afternoon and caught a few Bass upstream. I camped in town at the caravan park and in the morning I decide to head downstream at Ficks. It was a long walk with the Hobie, but after 2 hours one way, I land 42 Bass in just under 3 hours. Camping 5 minute drive in Murgon Launch boat or kayak
Burrum River Freshwater Barra
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
I travel to Lenthals Dam to chase Barra and Bass, but after two and no fish. I decide to try the Burrum River. I find no Bass, but I'm surprised with the numbers of Barra and the real beauty of the river. Which has a sub tropical look and feel. Kayaks only, put this location high on your bucket list. Come prepared for big, I didn't catch anything big. But I seen a guy there who had just caught ...
Yabba Creek, from Friends Crossing to Elbow Crossing.
Переглядів 1,6 тис.4 роки тому
I fish Yabba Creek below Borumba Dam, starting at Friends Crossing and heading downstream to Stirlings Crossing. Where I spend the night before heading further down to Elbow Crossing the next day. I don't really target a species, but just fish and enjoy the environment.
Eurimbula The Return of ther Hobie
Переглядів 3984 роки тому
I return to Eurimbula Creek with my now repaired Hobie. I highly recommend this place for camping and beach swimming. Very clean and well maintained . Great place to camp and fish, no crabbing. Be aware that swimming in the creek is unsafe due to the current.
Eurimbula Creek done wrong.
Переглядів 1,9 тис.4 роки тому
Planned a 4 day trip to Eurimbula Creek. Fantastic creek, full of Bream, Flathead and Whiting. Great camping, very clean and well spaced. Lost my gopro on the way in, left it on the car. Forgot beer, got hooked twice and broke my hobie peddles. I only stayed 2 nights in the end, leaving early on the last day. I will surely go back and attempt to do this trip again.
Winter Fishing and Camping the Mary River.
Переглядів 3,2 тис.4 роки тому
I set out from the spillway in Gympie at Kidd Bridge and paddle downstream. Fishing along the way and camping at Fishermans Pocket. The second day I travel down to The Rocks and back. Target species is Saratoga and Bass, but I was surprised to catch good Sooty Grunter as well.
Sunny Coast Mangrove Jacks

My first video, a training run. Thought Id put it up for something to watch. All these came in about 30 minutes, until I lost the black Squirrel.
Winter Fishing at Middle Creek
Переглядів 1,1 тис.4 роки тому
Camping and fishing Middle Creek from my Hobie Outback. Winter time sees large numbers of Trevally come into the creeks. And with the creek being shallow or dry on the low, its paradise for kayakers.
Chasing Jacks in Buttha Creek

Camping and fishing in the Great Sandy Straits. Luring Buttha Creek for anything I can. Cooking up a feed on the BBQ.
Fishing at Bingegang Weir .
Переглядів 3,1 тис.5 років тому
A few days at Bingegang Weir fishing. Set in outback Queensland just west of Rockhampton. I spend a few days camping and fishing for Barramundi with surprisingly good results.
What kayak is that?
A Hobie Outback
@@craigslattery1901 Thanks man
ill see if i can find the lures haha!!
I haven't heard from anyone that found them, good luck.
My fav part of the world, thanks for the upload :)
Sooty grunted shouldn’t be returned to the water…
Loved the video thanks bud.
no worries, thanks for the feedback
Keen to do a float trip like that myself
@@davidmagner527 leave it a week and if we have no rain, it will be great
Hey mate nice video how did you get down the from the dam is there a track you can take?
Yes, very easy track to find. Good luck.
were you in the top part or the bottom park
below the wall and above the highway
Nice video man.
Good video.Thanx for sharing
Awesome video, I have subbed.
thanks mate
Hey Craig my Son found your lures today he was super Stoked, that they were still there. thank you for show casing our local creeks
why you gotta put the names of the place up? your gonna kill the spot for you and my hudsband and the other locals
I hope that one day you and your husband might travel to places, maybe visit Bingegang and find something new.
Because he can that’s why
Love the commitment Craig!
Great video Craig
Thanks very much mate. Something a little different.
New subscriber to both you legends! Keep up the great work
@@gtkimber Thanks very much mate.
Great effort Craig ... those coastal creeks are a bit more effort .. usually don't produce a lot of fish , mosquitoes in abundance but the environment is beautiful with the mangroves ferns giving areas a very primal feel to them
Yes, so true, not a lot of fish for a lot of effort. But that tropical rainforest feeling is great.
Craig great video could you please tell me the right turn of to get to Buttha creek once i can get the right turn of iam sure i can find it thanks fore your help and you have a great day .Cheers
Take the Tinnanbar Rd and then use Google maps, youre still going to find it hard. But good luck.
Awesome stuff. Was out there about 2 year ago fished below the weir and cleaned up on massive sleepy cods on lures. Have you had much to do with bedford weir?
Yes Bedford is equally as good.
wooaah what a fight fish on master, supporting and watching from Macau, thank you
thanks very much mate
Nice trip mate 👍 This place is definitely on my list!!!
definitely do it, and get those lures
Nice video
Good Job mate is that up or down the creek not trying to be in your spots
Spots are for sharing, up is better.
Mate just a quick question...Are you the Barra God? Hot damn you done good.
Dont you get sooties in there
You sure do, but due to it being colder than the river, they aren't as big or as plentiful.
That’s awesome never knew that
Hey mate there best spot for the Barra is where that rope swing is at the little point
I remember staying here in the 80s on a school camp. Nice spot. Lots of snakes though.
I believe the camp grounds are equestrian based now
Great footage Jim
Another good video man 🤙
Thanks very much Jacko.
Nice video! No bass or barramundi in this system?
No Bass, but Barra would be a chance, along with Golden Perch and Catfish.
Haven't found a Barra there yet, but catfish are in there as are the odd toga
good for saratoga
Nice vid Craig. Recent trip? Looks to be a bit of flow up there.
About 5 weeks ago, I dont enjoy editting. This creek always gets good flow from the mountains to the east.
I've been planning to head up there, but 4 years later still haven't done it. Big drive if there's no water! Editing can be pretty time consuming, but is a great way to look back at the session and enjoy it. And others may get some benefit, too. Been enjoying a couple of your others, too.
@@adsyak Do the trip, there's always water, and the camp spot is fantastic. Thanks for the feedback, doing a vehicle video today.
No Crocs??
Not impossible as its part of the Fitzroy system. But the water gets very cold in Winter. And the number of locals using it would also suggest not either.
Hes back in action, looks like a nice spot
This is a great camping spot and I highly recommend it, the fishing isn't the main attraction.
Great video
Been a while, sootys are awesome
Thanks mate, been tough to sit down and edit.
I’m mates with the guy who tagged that Barra. Nice catch mate. Is this below the weir or above? They reckon definite crocs below that weir.
I have fished both the top and bottom a fair bit
This is below, camped at the bridge. Crocs are everywhere around Rocky, never trust them.
It’s a nice little camping spot that one I have caught some toga, sooty’s and yellow belly there. Keep it up mate
Craig, what awning are you using?
It's a Darche 270
Hey man, loved the video, I fish the Mary a fair bit also and have a couple UA-cam videos catching bass and sootys if you wanna check it out.
No 4 was well earned. Loved the video. Researching retirement locations and you just gave this area a few bonus points.
Witch section where you fishing the section closest to lenthals or the one closest to the salt ?
closest to the dam
Righteo thanks heaps man
awesome video man, thing i might go there in my holidays, what softplastic are you using? I've never done well in saltwater, only fresh
2.5 inch Z Man Curly Tails
awesome video man
Great video mate still remember when you took me up there when I was about 13 caught heap of bass couple good yellas 34 now. Time flys you even put photo in the paper
Hey mate, nice vid. How far down did you end up going?
Went here this arvo and caught all sorts of fish from lung fish too Saratoga with my uncle
Great place the mary river aye Craig makes some ripper videos. I fish the Mary a fair bit also and have a couple UA-cam videos catching bass and sootys if you wanna check it out.
@@jackosjourneys sure will
Great video mate. I'm up at eurimbula now in the rain and watching videos come across yours. Went and checked the ramp and found the lures. Happy days! 👍
Shame about the rain, great news about the lures though.
I’ve fished down stream plenty of times but I’ve easier access points than going down stream from the base or Ficks. I’ve done that once and never again, nice video mate. What lure was that?
The lure I used was a Chubby deep diver, by Atomic. I think, not 100% sure now.
where are the easier access points? ferris road?
Mate this is really quality video. I’d love to know more about what rigs you use. When I go it’s very hit and miss So I am very keen to learn.
Awesome video from craig, i have some videos of fishing the Mary with jig spinners and poppers and have some tips in thier on my channel if you want to check them out.
Mate this is really quality video. I’d love to know more about what rigs you use. Also time of day time Of year combos.
the Mary fishes very well all year round. I personally like to use very light spin with shallow diving hard body lures. Chubbies are good, increase the size of the back hook and take the front one off.
Hey I’m pretty sure this part of the burrum river is private property either side. Did you have permission from the land owners
As long as he didn't enter through private property and stays under the high water mark he can be there for as long as he wants on a kayak. Same rules as NSW
Did you find weeds to be an issue
yes I did, but after this rain, should be good to go
@@craigslattery1901 yes the dam had a lotta ran flow into it and they seem to be letting a lot of water out. have you ever tried soft plastics rigged weedless
@@tysonbates5747 Weedless surface works well.
Yeah also agree mate, bit of respect for the fish and locals would be appreciated don’t need to tell everyone the exact river, If people wanted to know they should send a private message. How would you like it if I found your magical Barra land and then just told everyone about it location an all.. cheers bud Good things can never last
