Tip-148; Mammary Myofibroblastoma
Tip-148;
Myofibroblastoma is a purely mesenchymal, benign tumor of the mammary stroma, that presents as a slow-growing, painless, non-tender mass, in older patients. It is composed of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts consisting of bland, oval to spindle cells with pale to eosinophilic cytoplasm, arranged haphazardly or in short intersecting fascicles with interspersed variably hyalinized collagen bundles. It can exhibit storiform or even a neuronal-like appearance. The nuclei are bland-looking although focal pleomorphism is described. The tumor does not show features of malignancy including the lack of infiltrative growth pattern, high-mitosis, or necrosis. By immunostaining, the tumor cells typically show co-expression of CD34 and desmin. Other immunostains like STAT-6, Cytokeratins, and EMA are negative.
It occurs most commonly in the breast parenchyma. Still, it can also occur in extramammary sites, the so-called mammary-type myofibroblastoma, especially in the inguinal/groin area, vulva, perineum, and scrotum.

Tip-147; CNS CIC-rearranged Sarcoma
Переглядів 4314 днів тому
Tip-147; CIC-rearranged sarcoma of the neural axis is a high-grade, poorly differentiated sarcoma defined by CIC gene fusion (19q13.2) with different gene partners. It occurs mostly in adolescents and young adults and presents primarily in the deep soft tissues with about 10% involving the viscera, including the CNS. Whether in the CNS or extra-cranial, CIC-rearranged sarcomas show similar hist...
Tip-146; Uterine Adenosarcoma
Переглядів 63Місяць тому
Tip-146; Adenosarcoma is a biphasic neoplasm composed of a benign epithelial component and a malignant stromal component. They usually present with abnormal bleeding, an enlarged uterus, a pelvic mass, or tissue protruding through the cervical os like our current case. A history indicating recurrent polyps is not uncommon, since the initial diagnosis might be overlooked and the case interpreted...
Tip-145; Angiocentric glioma
Переглядів 51Місяць тому
Tip-145; Angiocentric glioma is a grade-1 diffuse pediatric-type glioma, located typically in the cerebral cortex, most commonly of the temporal lobe followed by the frontal lobe. Most cases occur in children and young adults, with a median age of 13 years. Patients typically present with chronic and intractable partial epilepsy. These are cellular tumors made up of monomorphic spindle-shaped a...
Tip-144; Mitomycin-C-Induced Urothelial Atypia
Переглядів 65Місяць тому
Tip-144; Mitocycin-C, an alkylating chemotherapy, is used as topical therapy for papillary urothelial carcinoma. Cytomorphological changes of mitomycin-C on urothelial cells may be misinterpreted as a neoplastic process. Morphological changes include nuclear enlargement of cells, hyperchromasia with pleomorphism, abnormal nuclear morphology and disordered orientation of the urothelium. However,...
Tip-143; Solitary fibrous tumor of soft tissue
Переглядів 107Місяць тому
Tip-143; Solitary fibrous tumor, SFT, is a fibroblastic tumor characterized by a prominent, branching, thin-walled, dilated staghorn vasculature and paracentric inversion involving chromosome 12q, resulting in NAB2-STAT6 gene rearrangement. SFTs may occur at any anatomical site, including superficial and deep soft tissues and within visceral organs and bone, and they are more common at extra-pl...
Tip-142; Optic nerve invasion in retinoblastoma
Переглядів 692 місяці тому
Tip-142; Retinoblastoma is the most common ocular tumor in childhood. Proper grossing is extremely important to enable commenting on the tumor and the high-risk pathological features which determine the outcome and any further therapy. Optic nerve invasion is one of the high-risk features that should be meticulously searched for and reported for any retinoblastoma case. The PO section (pupillar...
Tip-141; Ovarian Cellular Fibroma with Extra-ovarian Deposits
Переглядів 912 місяці тому
Tip-141; Cellular fibroma of the ovary is a benign stromal tumor composed of fibroblastic cells within a variably collagenous stroma. Patients usually present with symptoms related to a pelvic mass, as in the current case, and the tumors are unilateral. The tumors are solid but can have a cystic component. The tumor is composed of intersecting cellular bundles of bland spindle cells. It is char...
Tip-140; High Grade Astrocytoma with Piloid Features
Переглядів 872 місяці тому
Tip-140; Pilocytic astrocytoma is the prototype of circumscribed gliomas, that occurs commonly in the posterior fossa, in the form of a mural nodule in a cystic lesion. It is associated with MAPK pathway gene alterations, most often KIAA1549::BRAF gene fusions. It is a CNS WHO grade 1, that is cured mostly with gross total resection. High-grade astrocytoma with piloid features, HGAP, is an astr...
Tip-139;Cervical Adenocarcinoma, HPV-associated
Переглядів 722 місяці тому
Tip-139; Adenocarcinoma, HPV-associated, is an epithelial tumor forming glands with stromal invasion and/or exophytic expansile-type invasion, associated with high-risk HPV infection. It accounts for approximately 5% of all cervical carcinomas in non-screened populations. However, the relative prevalence of adenocarcinoma has increased to 10-25% of all cervical carcinomas in screened population...

Переглядів 973 місяці тому
Tip-138; Pilocytic astrocytoma is a grade-1 tumor, composed of a proliferation of bipolar hair-like pilocytic cells, thus the name, arranged in variable compact and loose or myxoid regions, with Rosenthal fibers, and eosinophilic granular bodies seen in between. It is associated with MAPK pathway gene alterations, most often KIAA1549::BRAF gene fusions. In the posterior fossa, PA appears as a c...
Tip-137;Tubal High-grade Serous Carcinoma
Переглядів 863 місяці тому
Tip-137; High-grade serous carcinoma; HGSC, is a high-grade epithelial neoplasm demonstrating serous differentiation originating in the fallopian tube. The non-invasive form is called serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma; STIC. Precursor lesions with less atypia are termed serous tubal intraepithelial lesions; STILs. The occurrence rate of STIC in fallopian tubes from prophylactic salpingo-oo...

Tip-136; Pilocytic astrocytoma is an astrocytic neoplasm with variable proportions of bipolar hair-like, pilocytic, cells, compact and loose or myxoid regions, Rosenthal fibers, and eosinophilic granular bodies. It accounts for 5% of all CNS tumors and is typically encountered in the first 2-decades of life, representing the most common glioma in childhood. Pilocytic astrocytoma is associated w...
Tip-135;Primary Ovarian Mucinous Carcinoma
Переглядів 1054 місяці тому
Tip-135; Mucinous carcinoma is an invasive mucinous neoplasm composed of gastrointestinal-type cells. Patients typically present with symptoms related to a pelvic mass. Most tumors are confined to the ovary at presentation, and advanced-stage disease is very rare. They might show an expansile growth pattern or infiltrative growth pattern, at least 5mm in linear dimension. Primary ovarian mucino...
Tip-134;BCOR-Positive CNS Solitary Fibrous Tumor
Переглядів 684 місяці тому
Tip-134; Solitary fibrous tumor, SFT, is a dura-based, often supratentorial fibroblastic neoplasm, predominating in adult patients, with an equal male-to-female ratio. It is characterized by a genomic paracentric inversion at the 12q13 locus, leading to NAB2 and STAT6 gene fusion, NAB2::STAT6, which is virtually pathognomonic of SFT and is the driver mutation. This leads to the nuclear expressi...
