    Doing this to my 3105 had a question when you Jack it up and set it on jackstands to let the frame relax do you unbolt the outriggers from the walls or leave them in place they are all tight

    • @GlamisHopper
      @GlamisHopper 2 роки тому

      Let it sit for a few days, then check again, if still tight I’d leave them.

      @@jackfergusonjr7016 6” to 8”, if you can just cut the old 2”x2” out and just run continuous, would be better. You’ll just need to install new spring shackles.

      Was going to it's welded in good to the steps and mud guards so left it but did cut off hangers I need 2 inches of lift didn't want to do axle flip more then needed so putting another 2x2x.1875 12 foot long tube under existing and putting new hangers on instead of angle iron

    I plan on doing this soon. What do you think about supporting the trailer by its walls with jackstands instead of the chassis ?

    • @JohnsCustoms
      @JohnsCustoms 2 роки тому

      For example using 40' of angle iron in between the walls and jackstands. My Thoughts are this would allow the entire mass to 'relax' downwards before adding the reinforcements

    • @GlamisHopper
      @GlamisHopper 2 роки тому

      I would not try this, let the frame and outriggers do there job. Jack up the trailer and get it supported, you’ll be amazed what will go on, let it settle.

      Ok thanks. I'm picking up a 3905 this weekend which is not too bad, if at all. But I want to do preventive reinforcements on it

      Hello Ulysses Jurado We would need to look at your trailer, the FS are a little different. The price of steel has gone up through the roof, the cost of this labor and parts would be in the 6-7k

    I got a question, do you have any concerns of the frame cracking where you new welds are? Ok have an 07 5th wheel le3405 I got for a good price. I want to do this to but I'm afraid of heating up the frame from welding and causing cracks, I love my 07 and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a new one

    • @GlamisHopper
      @GlamisHopper 2 роки тому

      I’ve never had a frame/weld crack. They all need some type of added support. This 40’ trailer after the repair was a completely different trailer, quite, no noises coming from the coach while driving around.

    Great video! Is this issue more common to a certain year range of Weekend Warrior? I'm looking at a 2008 Model 2805. Also, how much added weight in steel reinforcement do you estimate was added to the trailer? Thanks

    • @GlamisHopper
      @GlamisHopper 2 роки тому

      Sorry for the late response I added over a couple hundred pounds of steel to the trailer, this one is a 40’. Some of the later models came with the center outriggers, does your trailer have them? I’ve helped a few people with other model warrior trailers, they all have some type of problem.

    Check the bottom of the cross supports where they meet the frame. on my trailer, they were pushing and cracking through the frame itself, causing the tops of the frame to bow outwards.

    Hi Waynos You should not guess on cam timing, set a motor to stock locations, if you change timing you need to degree the cams. When a block or heads have been machined (decked) or a different thickness head gasket is used, cam timing will change. This will change all four cams, that’s why I’ll degree all four cams. You’d be surprised how much of a difference they will be off from each other. If you just degree the cams on a motor you will pick up a noticeable difference in power. Thank you Richard

    • @waynoswaynos

      Thank you, I really appreciated your advice. I suppose I was looking for the cheap and dirty workflow for a stock engine, without purchasing the adjustable cam pulleys. I am in New Zealand and they are bleeding us out down here, the equivalent to 6 bucks a gallon right now, so performance is second to efficiency. This seems like a nice way to make some savings without a huge outlay of time or parts. I a learnt a lot from your video and definite food for thought. All the best, Waynos

  • @waynoswaynos

    Nice one and thanks for sharing.. I was thinking about advancing my cam a few degrees next time I do the timing belt (for better mileage) but was wondering… for a quick and dirty method, would it work if I just lined up the pulley marks in their correct positions, but had the crank rotated counterclockwise a few degrees, then pulling the tensioner grenade pin. Then when I turn the crank back to TDC my cams would be advanced.. Is that a dumb idea?
