If anyone has ever seen the film Gamer they will know why the powers that control is don’t want alcohol in our system

I stopped drinking 20 years ago now didn’t like the hangovers didn’t really like the taste of the alcohol and gave up smoking at the same time. Sobriety is not all that bad doesn’t stop me from going into a pub doesn’t stop me enjoying time with my friends who were drinking and makes me the designated driver, so what also saves me an absolute fortune in today’s climate

Im a recovering alcoholic and what she's saying doesn't make sense to me. My alcoholism and my depression were two separate things. I got quite severely depressed during my recovery, with a happy marriage and good job. Drinking didn't even cross my mind.

Exactly. Nobody just gets an addiction for funsies. You have to find and treat the reason people want to escape reality. And adding more shame and punishments on top is only gonna make it worse

I’m a recovering heroin and crack addict. I’ve been clean nearly 4 years, it took me nearly 30 years to get to this point. Addiction is different to everybody 🙏🙏🏿

One of the things addiction could be interpreted as is is a spiritual 'search for the divine'.

Ex addicts are the best therapists, they know deeply from personal experience not theoretical knowledge. The theoretically knowledgeable may have more qualifications but it is thin and watery in comparison to real world understanding.

You absolutely have to have a support system in place, and you have to get to the reason why you “ self medicate “ once you find the source you can get to the cure! Don’t be afraid to reach out for help, as you find your not alone in the journey! There is light at the end of the tunnel ❤️
