I live in Denmark, where fertility has now fallen. 1,495 children per woman. slowly but bumped since the great economic crisis, 2008 has the fertility. waved up and down and now mostly down from that. in 2008 we had 1.8 children per woman in Denmark in the fertile period, At the same time, we have seen the largest cities in Denmark grow strongly, and the province's small towns and villages shrink at the same rate as the cities have grown a little. fun fact is that. even if it is said that it is more sustainable to live in a big city, the facts point in the opposite direction, one square meter newly built. housing in big city high-rises costs. one ton of co2 to build, the energy supply in the big cities is much less. sustainable green than the energy supply in the Danish province where we have the wind turbines and district heating with a very localized supply, primarily straw, it costs around 100 grams of co2 and buy a kwh. heat in the big cities while the province's district heating plants deliver the same kwh of heat for around 10-20 grams of co2 per kwh of heat, so the argument is that. we have to live in the big cities to. get higher sustainability a hollow wrong argument that is not based on facts. a newly built house requires. 97% new materials we take from nature, a newly built car consists of about 97% recycled materials plus the battery for the electric cars that will. ultimately end up being recycled to the same degree, a kwh of electricity in the Danish province emits 1:100 part of co2 than the electricity used to power the big cities in Denmark, as this is where we exclusively have. the few coal-fired or with imported biomass from sources that are not regenerated at the same pace as the cogeneration plants that burn it. The fertility rate in cities like Copenhagen is around one child per woman, while the fertility rate in the province's small towns and villages is around two children per woman. in other words, you have to pay ten to a hundred times more CO2 per kwh of heat and electricity. one ton of co2 per square meter. newly built housing in the big cities that will provide. a very low fertility, when settling in the high-rise buildings of the big cities. this is an equation that cannot go up. while settlement in the Danish province will almost always take place in existing housing. semi-detached houses built in the 1960s-80s which are well maintained and often re-insulated to today's standard. located in areas that only have a smaller emission per kwh of heat and electricity in its supply, yes it is the exact opposite location location location from where we have the strong land rent, in the big cities. It gives higher fertility and settles in the province and emits the least co2.

Lmao, so basically if Seoul had cheaper housing and supported single mother families the birth rate would go up. This is laughable, Seoul should become like Atlanta. He shows his family (with him), but this isn't the case in Atlanta. Women going back to having a man in the home is the equivalent of incarceration to them. It's hilarious how men can't see this. 😂

"Okay, how do we get out of here?" Shouldn't even be there. The Event Horizon is the point of no return. The only thing that can be done is for the younger generations of guys to decide how to build on top of the bones and rubble. Of a failed system that existed before. And put on records of how the previous generations failed and why.

I see many people are thinking very narrow mindedly. The goal of humanity should be to continue expanding and to spread out to other planets and work on making them habitable /finding habitable planets. With us only occupying one planet we are at constant risk of extinction. Lowering our population only puts us at risk for things most can’t comprehend yet. But with the way things are currently, if they want us to reproduce more we need affordable houses that can fit children not tiny apartments that cost way too much as it is, job security, stable working hours, and good pay so mothers can prioritize pregnancy and child rearing instead of working. No time for that as a working woman. Excellent for the economy as well as the new mother will need to shop for needed items for each new kid and she will have the time to do so without a job in the way.

It doesn't help the cause when the person in the video is intentionally dishonest. His map of California makes it look like "There's Plenty of Room". The vast majority of California, specifically ALL of SOCAL is all but uninhabitable without stealing all the water from multiple states. Without radical environmental manipulation, nothing south of Santa Barbara should be inhabited beyond homesteads and outposts. Pronatalists should be screaming for massive desalination efforts if they want people to live in the Southwest.

I've seen only the first minutes, but to me it sounds like great news!....because our ecological footprint is too big at present, oil will wither away and economic growth will not be possible. It won't be easy but a decrease of population with lower birth rates is better than the alternative via natural disasters including the climatic changes. Taking care of the old I hope will be possible....I'll keep on watching....

I am very happy for anyone who wants children to have them and get encouragement through policy or individual sponsorship (someone with 3+ houses could donate one to a poor couple wanting to start a family for instance and give them a good start - if you care about the issue that much gifting an excess property shouldn’t be too much of an ask). In the US we've disenfranchised young people by transferring wealth upward, from poor to rich, from young to old and from those who own no assets to those who do so successfully for so long that young people have turned to nihilism and have little hope for the future. It comes as no surprise then that they don't form households, marry or have children. They can't. Enriching older cohorts at the expense of younger ones is a short term strategy that ultimately ensures that young people are priced out of participating in the continuation of our species.

She's right. Corporations must show consistently growing profits for the current Ponzi scheme to keep going through ever increasing stock and real estate valuations. They can do this through increased consumerism, which has reached it's per capita limit, especially with stagnating wages. The answer (at least for the political/managerial class) is an ever increasing population of consumers/wage slaves/taxpayers. This consumerism is also supported through debt, as well as inflation to pressure people to spend their money before it loses value. The problem is that this runs up against limited resources. The first of these is space. The guy says there's plenty of space for people to live but that's not the point, because people can't just go live in the middle of nowhere. Everyone wants (or has to) live in cities where there are jobs and resources, and cities are becoming extremely expensive and overcrowded. Take Canada, for instance. People are always yapping about how Canada has so much space, but they don't realize that the vast majority of people (90%? I forget the exact figure) live within a hundred miles of the US border. Try finding an apartment in Canada, or a family doctor. There's increasing pressure on urban infrastructure of all sorts ranging from the electric grid to sewage systems, parks and on and on. How many more tent cities can Canada and other countries bear to support? While he goes on about declining population, we are busy producing literal tent cities of fentanyl addicts. This ain't workin'.
