Those are tie rods or also known as tie bars. They are used to hold sections of walls together.
Just found your channel! Love it
Awesome job ! We're you riding on us 20 ?
Hope you’re feeling better soon. You have accomplished enough with RAGBRAI and the days afterwards. Very few people could achieve what you did so no need to make up the remaining distance.
You did the right thing. Ragbrai is hard enough (I've done 7 myself), and so I ask myself why would anyone keep riding immediately afterward. I suggest taking the rest of the summer off the bike and relaxing inside air conditioning spaces away from mosquitos.
You have nothing to be ashamed of Your body knows what is best for you Great job
Thanks for sharing,
It sounds like you need a better way to research and plan your route ahead of time. The Google Earth website and Google Maps Streetview is good and it shows close up views of pavements types. Also just googling a trail name on the web should shows people personal pictures they uploaded, and you should be able to look at the pics and determine if the trail is gravel, dirt, or paved. Maybe the GPS tracker is good for making your video endings interesting showing the actual biked route map animation, but if the price is riding a whole day on gravel is that really worth it using GPS alone?
Congrats on completing RAGBRAI. Have a great ride home!
Had to use Google maps to compare to your relive animation to figure out your route. Troll Hollow? Im in Peru IL.

I have family in Red Oak, Iowa. So when I heard the route for this year. I actually said NO :) And I warned others who where going about said hills. You see in Southwest Iowa, the flat parts are for crop fields. So they put the towns on hills ;) Its a crazy state.
It was nice meeting you in Brancel Camp. You didn't show the best part of camp, ICE CREAM night ! Safe Travels and SEE You next year
Electronics have the darnedest ways of pooping out at the worst times. At least you weren't on the trail out in the boonies. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Did you ride up Snake Alley? I did with my bags on my bike and had a blast. It seemed empty in Burlington IMHO no concert, no parties. I didn't stick around for long after arriving at 8:30. Rode out of town and headed back to Des Moines. Hope you enjoyed the ride and made it back home safely.
Congratulations 🎊 I watch all your ragbrai videos thank u for sharing.
Hoo, hoo!! Let the next adventure begin!!
Congratulations you made it!! I'll be following you on your ride back to Ohio. Thanks for sharing and taking us along!!
I was done with my ride and glad of it when i heard you telling your story at Circle K in Burlington to the roller blade guy. You are a champ for staying on the bike, and going all the way back to Ohio!
Thanks
Great job. Good luck and stay strong and safe.
Rode 10 RAGBRAIS with Brancel Awsome people!
Thank you so much for posting these! We are coming next year so it’s been nice to see what’s happening every day! Thank you thank you so much!
I think RAGBRAI, for me, would be eating across Iowa. I would have to sample from many vendors. Glad you had a much better day. Enjoying your videos. Pedal on!!
You might need to drink some electrolytes this evening. Gatorade would be good. Even better some electrolyte packets you can add to your water bottles. Rest easy and hydrate!!
Wow, 80 miles!! That's quite a jump in mileage. Another great video showing the attractions in town. Stay strong, my friend!
Great job and another great video
Im glad everyone is having fun, but as a strictly solo cyclist, this feels like a nightmare to me. I ride to get away from people and clear my mind.
I am normally a solo cyclist. I did this one because a friend does it every year and I wanted to ride with him. Unfortunately, he got hurt and was not able to ride. After I am done with RAGBRAI, I am continuing my ride solo back to Ohio.
@@yolohikes167 Right on! I'm from the Akron area. Let us know how the ride home goes.
@@BufordDuckworth follow along. I will be posting videos
Excellent video! Looks like everyone is having fun. How are you handling the climbs so far? Tomorrow's a big day. Rest well tonight. Thanks for taking us along!!
Climbs were tough on day 3. I had to cross train (walk) on a few of the steeper climbs.
Thank goodness I found someone that is posting videos while the ride is happening. Most channels will wait until the end of the ride and post videos later. Are you riding the whole route? Looking forward to seeing your adventures. Ride on!!
I plan on riding the whole route. Trying to do video while riding, but that didn't work out on day 1.
Way to go! What a great adventure GO BRENT! GO BRENT!
Nice 👌
Great you are doing your bucket list.
Love it. Missed your videos. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish on this adventure. Safe travels.
