    Mel I love this. I don’t feel differently about you and will continue to support you on your journey wherever that leads. I deeply appreciate your openness because I feel the same at times. Spread thin across several places can feel exhausting. And childcare greatly impacts things. I’ve been coming back to a place of “what have you done lately that makes you happy?” “Where do you find the most joy?” And I have a hard time answering that question for myself. Am I trying to prove a point in my business? Or do I really enjoy this? I also think it’s a beautiful thing to continually assess what’s important to us and evolve and reinvent as needed. We are dynamic individuals over the course of a lifetime. Lots of love to you and keep sharing!

      That’s such a thoughtful way of being. Yes, the evolution process is never done and i think the fact that we get to keep moving forward and renewing, refreshing is something to look forward to. Also, it reframes change from a bad thing to an opportunity for growth and learning. I’m so glad we get to be in each other’s lives and witness our expansion together 😊❤

      @@MelissaHussong I have a 2019 with 7 stage traction control. I normally ride in 1, the least intrusive mode other than off. When I first got my AT I got stuck on a saddle in thr top of a mountain peak with a very sketchy steep hill climb covered is cricket ball sized marbles with a 4M drop off to the side in the middle of nowhere and spent 40 minutes wrestling the bike while it wheelspun and stalled over and over and over and over until I was exhausted and dropped the bike. Totally forgot about the traction control. I can hear the exact same noise comming from your boyfriends bike in the sand. Spin spin spin stall. Jist when the bike starts to go somewhere the traction control cuts fuel and the engine stops. Just be ready to cut the throttle when the bike gets out of the bog or its going to wiskey throttle to the moon.

    Just found your video, I also ride a CRF1000L, a 2018 model. Same bike, just throttle by wire. Congrats on starting a whole new level to motorcycling, this is where all the real fun is at! As you guy's already know, a more aggressive dirt tire will do absolute wonders for you. One other guy down below me said something about dropping your bike, as if... that's not normal? First off, if your not dropping your bike you're not trying hard enough. And secondly, dropping the AT is INEVITABLE. Don't ever feel bad about it, every rider in the dirt drops their bike several times. The AT is a hell of a bike. I absolutely love mine. You'll learn to manage it's weight properly in deep sand eventually, most other stuff is pretty doable. Someone posted about E07+ tires, those are great. I've been through multiple sets, they don't really preform well in sand and mud. If you find yourself going through a fair bit of that, then I'd suggest looking at Motoz tires. There are a ton of resources out there to get some more knowledge on how to operate a 500+ lbs/226+kg adventure bike in the dirt. I'd recommend Bret Tkas to start off with. It's not easy, but it's possible! These motorcycles will take you to FANTASTIC places! Another thing, Backcountry Adventure Motorsports, a channel here on UA-cam has fantastic information regarding the Africa Twin and maintenance. His video walked me entirely through the valve adjustment process. Before I go for good, I want to drop you the Africa Twin CRF1000L forum on advrider.com, this is a wealth of information for ANYTHING to do with these motorcycles. You might have already seen this forum, but regardless just incase here is this link! www.advrider.com/f/threads/the-africa-twin-crf1000l-owners-thread.1112644/

    Good review, I think its too expensive, design is old, no new feature, same DD ring as my ARAI's from 2000's. It could be good to keep old techno vs compare old Porsche, BMW vs New full elctronics ones, but for the helmets its the opposite we need more features : exemple heat air with just plugin battery (we always have usb plug in our new motorcycle or atv, automatic SOS message with a sim card like the cars when it dectecs a crash without any actions to discard the signals, and basicaly retractable sun visor because its not allowed in Europe to ride with a tinted visor, etc... This brands like Shoei should be precurssors in such safety features,

    I own a Scorpion AT950 Modular that I bought back in 2017. Recntly I bough two new Helmets. A Aria Adventure XD4 and the AVG Sport Modular Carbon. I love both of them but I think it is a mistake that Aria did not include a flip down sun visor (wearing sun glasses is a pain over my prescribtion eye glasses). The AVG is great, wieghs almost nothing in comparison to the other two helmets I own. The Scorpian had started to give me extreme neck pain after all day rides. The Aria does not feel heavy (must be the way they engineered its construction)and the AVG is like wearing a Feather, haha, not really but it is super light and has a flip down sun visor and is modular. And both my two new helmets fit me like a glove. Just saying One reason for the new new helmes besides the obvious, is that I plan on riding down to Daytona next year for their annual Motorcycle festival on my 2020 Harley Low Rider S. I live in Washington D.C.. I also wanna ride to Sturgus next year but think I will ride my 2020 KTM 790 Adventure S to that.

      100% agree. Arai doesn't make helmets with internal sun visors for safety - says they can shatter on impact and may cause injury. I wear polarized sunglasses to reduce glare and the external visor does help some depending on the angle of the sun

      @@MelissaHussong hi, when you wear polarized sunglasses under the helmet, do you not get rainbow colors through the visor? I tried to use them on my HJC but there are kinds of weird colors going on.

      hey @@gbner9991 !! no, that hasn't been an issue for me. I use a product called 'Muc-Off helmet visor and goggle cleaner' on the inside of my visor and on my sunglasses. it comes in a small spray bottle that I keep in my tank bag and spray on/wipe off with a microfiber cloth. it takes any grease or smudges off the lenses that might cause impaired vision or colors. the visor on my Arai is clear - maybe yours is tinted? that might impact it , too. hope that helps!!

    I thought it was very nice also. Good intro, interesting how you say that you can create new memories with old. I've never done the visual form of meditation, though I am accomplished with Samatha. I wonder if it is an important aspect of meditation. I keep wondering what total liberation is. I do not like the idea of the emptiness of Cessation being eternal. I wonder if life beyond material is something we create ourselves in some way, or whether we continue to experience material without bodies of any kind. It's been said that 100 years of all of the best pleasures on earth are not worth the pleasure of a single day when beyond death-birth. But how can it be so? I probably shouldn't question that, but sounds like something to strive for 😇 I'd like an ultimate destination that is like a good ride, but 100,000x better 😊

      thank you, hun!! I'm so glad my videos are serving you 💜 After becoming a motorcycle coach I realized that so much of riding is mindset and believing in ourselves. Then I became a mindset coach to help others overcome fear and doubt that same way I did when I started riding. Any specific questions I can help you answer or ways I can serve you better?

      @@MelissaHussong do you have any tips of getting to the right mindset to saving up and or financing your first motorcycle or even the fifth one? Are there any major differences between bike insurance and car insurance that women who want motorcycles can better understand to prepare themselves to get this bike and also properly have it ensured?

    • @MelissaHussong
      @MelissaHussong 2 роки тому

      @@SunsetSoulcat yeah absolutely! personal finance is one of my favorite topics 😀 for starters, I'd say evaluate your current financial situation and start putting money in a separate account for your motorcycle. pay yourself first - so, always put this money aside before you start spending money on other things in your budget like entertainment and other fun stuff. try to set up an automatic transfer so the money is saved before you have a chance to spend it. you can pay cash or get a motorcycle financed through a dealership or personal loan. I've only paid cash for mine but would 100% consider getting financing next time. I prefer to hold my cash for other stuff and leverage credit, but it is a personal choice and depends on your own financial situation. as far as mindset, believe that you are worthy of your desires and trust yourself that you can do it. a fun manifestation technique is to surround yourself of pictures of your desired motorcycle and even visualize yourself riding it. for insurance, it really depends on where you live in the world. I've always had full insurance on my motorcycles as I think it is well worth it. make sure you get personal injury coverage in your insurance policy - absolutely essential. usually you can get gear insurance included which is nice to have. the US is affordable for insurance though I found that Australia is much more expensive ($100 vs $600), so evaluate your options. call a few insurance carriers to compare prices. when budgeting for your new motorcycle, try to include all costs. so, say you want to buy a $2,000 used motorcycle and the insurance is $200 and registration costs are $100 then your total budget is $2,300. mainly this just prepares you for the overall costs of motorcycle ownership. gas and maintenance is far cheaper than a car, though, so that's a great thing. hope that helps!! let me know if you have more questions ❤

    This helmet is a legend. But, it has some documented vision issues thru the center of the visor. Have you noticed those? Also, what was your previous modular? The Scorpion AT950/ADX1?

      hey Mohan! I just wore this helmet on a 10,000 km ride across Australia so I'm happy to give an update. The visor does have something going on in the middle, though unsure if it's the fact I wore sunglasses most of the time. it seemed to reflect internally or at least the plastic was a little distorted. not ideal, but not a deal breaker either. I barely noticed it. I found visibility improved when I kept it clean by wiping with Muk-Off glass cleaner and microfiber cloth. Overall, very comfortable helmet on- and off-road. it was great at keeping dirt out which was perfect because I spent about 2 weeks in the Outback riding through red dust. anyway, hope that helps!! safe riding, friend

      my previous modular helmet was made by Victory Motorcycles which no longer exists. It was the standard modular model though I don't remember the specific make. I much prefer my Arai helmet, though - WAY more comfortable and has better safety standards and features

      @@MelissaHussong Thanks for this. Yes, that sharp curve in the center of the helmet closer to the nose is apparently problematic. A few dudes called Arai and Arai has confirmed the issue. The callers were asked to avoid looking through that spot in the visor. It is quite sweet of Arai to admit the problem; and also quite shite of them to not update the helmet with a fix. After all, this helmet's design has remained unaltered for many many years. So, maybe an update with a visor fix isn't a bad thing. Certainly, every other thing about the helmet is a 10/10; but this one aspect bothers me as I am required to shell out half my retirement account to acquire the freakin helmet.
