SCCC USPSA (IN23) December Saturday No-Match - Carry Optics B Class
Match in Underwood Indiana, This No-Match had no hard cover, no no-shoots, nothing beyond 20 yards.
So it was an experiment in Speed and running it like a practice session in full speed and 4 year old practice ammo.

    I'm glad to see SCCC is back up and running. The last one or two years I was in KY they were looking for new property. These cold months in KY and Indiana I would switch to a dry lubricant like Rem Oil, and it helped a lot for the cycling of my pistols.

      Yeah might as well make those Jams funny! I knew it was going to jam eventually at this match since I was using 4 year old reloads the ti use for practice now just to finish them off. This weekend I have an IDPA match Scheduled at it is suppose to be a high of 32, so it's gonna be cold this weekend. At least last weekend it warmed up to the 40's by noon and was 28 in the morning.

      @joemky Місяць тому

      @kidiraq8381 I still use it in my daily dry fire training. If I have a USPSA/IDPA major match I use their CSP add on or SC add on for Any steel Challenge Match. When I don't have a Major Match I tend to use the target shooting option that comes with the base Smokeless Range, as a warmup for 10 minutes doing 4 different sessions with a par time of 5 seconds: first group shooting 5 shots free hand a couple of times, then Strong Hand only 5 shots a couple of times, Weak hand 5 shots a couple of times. the 5 Shots free hand, reload and 5 more shots in under 5 seconds, then the last one is 4 shots to the body and 1 to the head. That is just the warm up, then I start going into the other apps that come with the smokeless range to try and beat my current high score, or go into any of the other add on's. Tactical Targets, Open Range, SC or CSP for 10-15 minutes. So yeah still use it on a regular basis since 2022. It 's nice to have different options for dry fire practice to keep it interesting after years of doing it.

    Hey Joe, just came across your review of Imarksman. I want to shoot primary steel challenge. I’m now shooting RFPO. I’m very new to this system so not clear what I would need from them to get set up? I don’t see any of their pistols set up for Rimfire probably because of how they function? Do they have a pistol with an optic? Thanks

    • @joemky
      @joemky 2 місяці тому

      @1940restorod - Most of their starting kits come with the Camera Sensor, Calibration Software and the main software in this case Steel Challenge. The SIRT Pistols that they offer do not have an optic mount, It wasn't until sometime last Year that SIRT made a laser pistol with a mount option in the 110 model. I ended using their Sig P320 model and used a plate mount, which replaced the rear sight so you can add an optic to it. Which is what I use for RFPO training and USPSA & IDPA Carry Optics practice. I did wish there was a Ruger 22/45 laser pistol out there but that doesn't exist at this time. You can just the code JOE10 for 10% imarksman products now if you wanted to. If you wanted the SIRT 110 with the optic mount you would have to get that separate from NextLevelTraining dot com.

      Do you feel the response from trigger pull to hit is accurate? In other words will my times be accurate?

    • @joemky
      @joemky 2 місяці тому

      @@1940restorod Great Question! Hard to answer. So There are times that I am not performing at my best so times vary in general on Dry and Live fire. However I have been keeping a spreadsheet of my sessions before the State Match when I am doing nothing but practice for Steel Matches. My Best times have either matched the performance from the State Match or plus or minus 3 seconds from my best time from the dry fire session data. So there was improvement from the year before, but not by much since I used this for the month before and attended 1 steel match the month before. I'm sure the times would match more if I just practice with steel on dry fire and went to the Steel Matches every month. But this always vary with my mixing in USPSA and IDPA during the year and what ever has a Level 3 match coming up is what I concentrate on more, which is usually USPSA for the last 2 years, Might be different next year but we will see.

      @@1940restorod in short, despite only doing one club match in July and a state match in august, and dry fire all of July and before that state match. I wasn't worse than the year before but just a little better, but that was expected since I didn't shoot steel a lot this year. Was able to hit podium for RFPO but could have done better if I did more steel matches earlier in the year.

    I thought about it for a while, but my idea was to recreate it using VST Pro 2 from the Smokeless range. I will definitely come back to this idea. You give me the impulse to make it happen.

    • @joemky
      @joemky 2 місяці тому

      @modern_shooting - I haven't played with Laserammo VST Pro 2, but what I saw from the pictures of it, it looks like you draw out the targets you tend to shoot at. This one is not as static as that. If you put in a scenario of an attacker holding a hostage, VST you draw out the attacker, this one, you view the end results to see if you hit the target that you wanted and wear it hit or if you hit the hostage as you go through the results and see a red dot on the hostage which indicate a hit in that area. This one comes with 4 videos, one has the police stopping a car. the attacker runs out shoots and run's back. So when partite or # of shots is reach and the training stops you can view the results to see where you hit the attacker or if you missed.

    • @modern_shooting
      @modern_shooting 2 місяці тому

      @@joemky Yes, I have VST Pro 2. I know how it works. My idea was to just play a run from the stage (just like you did) in VST Pro, without editing, because by default the VST Pro will show you where you hit. Speaking of time, you get it from your shooter timer, which picks up the sounds of gunfire from the speakers. In the AAR, you can review your shots (accuracy) and the timer will show you (speed/time/splits etc). In this way, you will theoretically be able to keep track of the most important factors in an efficient way and replay the virtual stages very quickly.

    • @joemky
      @joemky 2 місяці тому

      @@modern_shooting Yeah Sorry I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know how it works, I was just stating what I say from lack of experience in never trying it. And that is a cool way of doing that. I guess with this one you don't have to use a separate timer to track total Tim and splits, and you can set a par time to speed. But this does stop when you hit the number of shots that you define. I don't know if VST stops at a number of shots, end of video or if you define a stop target. With live, If I set 32 for the house clearing and the total targets round count is 30 then I am giving my self two extra make up shots, so if I make it to the last target and have two extra shots, I need to use the 2 extra shots to stop it. Same goes if I had a lot of makeup shots before and end up shooting my 32 before getting to the last two targets, so I end up with 4 misses because I ran out of ammo before the last two targets. So it would be nice if I could set a designated stop target and not have to worry about round counts.

  • @ee222
    @ee222 2 місяці тому

    great video. is this really that simple where you have the software replay a video with various targets that you shoot as those targets come into view?? surely there's more to getting this set up than that?!

    • @joemky
      @joemky 2 місяці тому

      @ee222, Before this you use the camera calibration software, which I mentioned in the video. It's the same calibration software that is used for their other products, Steel Challenge, Action Steel, Game Pack etc. Once that is setup and calibrated, the iMarksman Live is just like any of their other software, click to open and start using. With this one you can make your own or import a video from UA-cam to shoot along with. When making your own, you just have to be conscious of the speed. The House video I had to reshoot 3 times to get the speed right. @iMarksman has also recently posted some video's on this products using it in other ways. But yup, just setup the targets video and go. If you shoot competitions, you can record a stage on a walk through and use that video for this. Or house or building clearing if you wanted to as I did

    • @joemky
      @joemky 3 місяці тому

      @skeenshandguntraining9429. The Newer SIRT 115 & 115C Does have an optic Ready Slide option to purchase. The 110 20/20c and the rest of the lineup does not have that option. Which They came out with the 115 Optic Ready option years after I got my 110 and a year or two after I got my 20. You can use an optic mounting plate to replace your rear iron sights. The Glock Models should have the same Glock foot print as the regular sights. The SIRT 20 which is model after a sig uses the S&w foot print for the rear sights, which I had to get an optic plate for that to attach an optic on mine, Year it raises it up a little, but once you get use to it you don't notice a difference after awhile. It's not ideal since I do like direct slide mount, but it works for training.

      @joemky This one just seems a whole lot easier to set up competitive matches with a group. You just pick the number of people and go, and enter your initials at the end. With the target constructor each person needs a profile and you have to put all the profiles in the roster and everyone must go in order and it's difficult to see the rankings. This seems much easier.

      @JimboLogic. Did you group it all in one COF? Anything with Multiple strings, I tend to Make a separate COF for the next string. All the Simulators have problems with multi string COF. To find them easier int he list, just create a new group for them so you can find them easier. I know it sounds bad that the Sims can't handle Multi String COF's all that well but I found it useful to break up the strings, this way if I was not happy with my performance on the string. I can repeat that one string until I am with out having to go through 1 or more strings to practice with the one I was having issues with.

      That's a bummer. I wanted to be able to do the whole test and then get a score at the end. At least I'm not the only one to have this problem. It just presents the courses of fire out of order. I wonder what criteria it uses to decide the order if it's not sequentially down the list in order. Or maybe it's just a bug or bad programming.

And when I got the Smokeless Range Camera I just ended up putting it on the mount that is attached to the AV Cart that already had a camera on it. @@joemky for many reasons. I mounted the camera on a heavy tripod in the corner behind my desk. Once I set up, I dont care anymore, its nice in isolated zone. From time to time I need to turn it a few degrees to the left or right if someone moved it. The position of the camera does not make difference for lighting conditions, unless you moved it very close to the screen or too far away (depends on camera). This also give a lot of pretty reliable precision in shooting detection system. I marked a lot of index points that tell me if camera or projectors not moved out of desirable place. By doing all these things im able to keep accuracy of the system at pinpoint precision at best, at worst half point.

      @shumardi1. Good Question. The Recoil Varies on Gun. The Glock 34 has a strong recoil, which feels like live ammo. The Sig Legion ( being a heaver pistol ) doesn't feel like a 22 But maybe like a low power 9mm, and the 1911 for 45, feels more like a 9mm. Granted as it starts to get low on co2, it does start to feel like a 22. I can experiment and try to get a video of the recoil on live and cool fire. I just need to figure out how to properly make it where there can be some sort of measurement in movement. Which I now have that marked down for a future video, so hopefully I can get that rolling.

      @ee222 The Scholastic Action Shooting Program is like Steel Challenge, a set number of courses of fire to shoot, except that you have to be a student and participate in the Scholastic Shooting Program for your school, I believe it goes all the way to college level. Steel Challenge is for 9 and as old as you get were you can still shoot. Steel Challenge is also something you can look on practiscore to see if there is any matches near you for steel challenge. So the Steel Challenge is good of everyone and the Scholastic Action Shooting is good for students and coaches in that sport. And I don’t mind the questions, which is why i have comments open on the video :D.

    great video! i agree. this was my 1st choice until i saw your videos on the competitor pro module. actually, it seems like the competitor pro is kind of an extension of this module. the big difference from what i'm seeing is that with the competitor pro module, you basically have this module, but you have to do all the work setting up the courses, whereas, this module already has the courses done. as for your wondering why the police weren't helping out in the shoot houses, i figure they are just the re-assigned police officers from Uvalde, TX ...... oh, wait a minute, did i just "say" that out loud?! 🤭🙄

    • @joemky
      @joemky 6 місяців тому

      @ee222 - It kind of is, but it isn't. The Competitive Shooter Pro ( CSP ) is geared toward your action shooting sports, which stages you make and the targets are the same targets and position every time. The Tactical Targets, is kind of like the CSP, but the targets are random, so you can run through the same stage and the targets tend to change. Sometimes you have a lot of targets to shoot and sometimes you have less. Other than remembering the rooms in Tactical Targets, the Targets are usually different. in CSP, you can remember the layout as well as the type of targets that are available at each position. Scoring on CSP is a little more in-depth as well. Tactical Targets is something I still enjoy to run through while walking on a tread mill since the scoring area is a little more forgiving and most are the targets are closer than some of the ones I practice with in CSP. But if you wanted to use this for shoot house practice, it is pretty good since you have to quickly identify threats and non threat targets

From this lineup smokeless range, laser ammo steel challenge, open range 2, IPSC competitive shooter, and zombie hunter form the games. The others ( imarksmand, iDryfire, and shooting-soft) are none centralized programs so you just find and click on the program link to run, which also allows you to use with the smokeless range since all these camera systems are the same in the fact that when the camera sees the laser, it performs a mouse click, which equals shot fired at xy location to track against the targets on the screen.

    Do you know if there are any digital camera replacement for smokeless range or do i have to use their standard/short throw for the simulator

      @asdflucklawl - Sorry I haven't seen anything else that will work with their smokeless range setup unlike iMarksman and Shooting-Soft which their software works with other cameras. If I have the Laserammo camera unplugged but the other ones plugged in, it doesn't detect them. So far it seems like the smokeless range is married to the firmware of that Laserammo cameras. How much are they asking for a new camera replacement?

      @@joemkythey're asking $70-350 for a standard camera repair or up to $600 for short throw. Btw, are there any games I can play utilize the smokeless range system , just wondering 😅😅

      @@asdflucklawl As far as games related to Smokeless Range, Games...they do have their alpha pack and and the free zombie and pumpkin hunter one, which I did due video's on those two and have a link the description to download them. Since you can still use other apps with the smokeless range by switching over and away from smokeless range, I marksman has a game pack and shooting-soft also has some games.

      @@asdflucklawl as far as the camera - wow that a lot considering the base smokeless game setup can be a few hundred dollars more or even 600 for the short throw smokeless range. You can see if they have any remanufactured ones for sale. Other than that, You can always look into getting a ps3eye camera from amazon and using Shooting-Soft Cam Clicker. Then you just have to run their app to calibrate, and then run smokeless range run through the simulator and just skip using their cam setup. I did that prior to purchasing smokeless range which their camera and still do it. It's something I do all the time if I use another sim first and then finish off with smokeless range. But If I was just going to work in smokeless range I use their camera.
