This is a great video. I'm in my late 50's and I grew up around this area. I really miss the place. I had to move for work reasons nearly 30 years ago. I remember before it had all the modern sports areas. The centre of the park used to have a horse racing circuit, though I never saw any horses on it. It also used to have a skateboarding area at the other end near Blue Coats. I spent most days in the park during my school holidays. My sister still lives nearby so I get to visit it now and then. I agree with your suggestions, especially the allowing football for free at certain times. It shouldn't cost a lot to maintain astro turf, so why the high price? Please keep making more videos of Wavertree. It brings back happy memories.

This was suggested from Noel Philip's Biman review. Nice to see fellow Scouser doing an airline review! The food on Biman looks very good. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was designed with a 2-4-2 abreast economy configuration in mind. So when airlines figured out that they could manage to squeeze an extra seat in, of course the resulting 3-3-3 config became horribly cramped as a result, just as your mother says. Unfortunately in 2024 only Japan Airlines still operates their Boeing 787s in its intended 2-4-2 economy configuration, which I had the pleasure of flying in July. That was the most comfortable economy seat I've tried to date. It's a shame how other airlines' greed have handicapped what was supposed to be a comfortable "Dreamliner" into a sardine can. But from a business perspective it's a no-brainer I suppose.

I have to be honest by experience with biman. Endless delays with flight, expensive tickets, seats were crammed , in flight entertainment was not working . Customer service was poor from cabin staff often shouting at passengers which was no need. Biman needs to allow other airlines to arrive at sylhet. This is not a monopoly. People should be given more choice. Biman management need to really take constructive criticism. Next time thinking of taking a different airline to dhaka and take a domestic flight to sylhet

Fantastic video. So glad you chose to tell this story. My grandfather arrived in 1950s, one of rhe blue funnel line seaman who later worked and managed restaurant. My mum was one of many placesd in the care system too with siblings due to poverty but shares a common story with many other mixes race families. She worked since age 13 in the restaurants. I would love to write a book to keep the history of Chinatowns history and families alive and welcome contact from anyone who is willing to share memories from the 40s to 60s.

Done both last year as I went twice. Once with Emirates with a stop over at Dubai. And then Biman direct. Biman were good, it was painful staying seated for so long though. I can't handle breathing the same air circulating in plane for 10-11 hours. I have to say I prefer the stop over so I can walk for a bit and then also stay in a nice hotel in Dhaka and get a Uber to go sight seeing for a day before comfortably flying in to Sylhet with US Bangla or Novo Air. So I am going to have to carry on using Emirates and possibly other airlines like Qatar, Saudi, Oman Air etc.

Great video, Jaber and fantastic suggestions. There used to be two sets of toilets in the park one on Wellington Road by the bridges and one in the middle. Both were left to rack and ruin by the council which was in an even more cataclysmic state in the early eighties.
