Congratulations, you have the best Dog in the world. Beagles are great with little kids and old people too. They settle down from being naughty after 1 or 2 years. Just remember Beagles do what they want, dont try training them like circus monkeys.

They get ear infections from bacteria in ponds, rivers, lakes and ocean. The water is trapped in the ear because if the long ear flaps. After swimming make sure to dry inside the ear being careful not to go deep inside or you can puncture their eardrum. Also, you can ask your veterinarian for special eardrops to use during the swimming season.

13 and 15” are AKC recognized, so called pocket beagles are not. They are bred from the smallest runts of a litter to produce a smaller dog.
