Oil change tips for beginners! Jetta GLI MK6.5 TSI Oil change!
Oilgeek will disagree with 2 things. 1 you should prefill your filter and 2 you should do your first oil change well before the standard interval.
@MrTopHat4 lol prefilling is a prehistoric method no one does, how would you prefill a horizontal mounted filter on a toyota or a upside down mounted filter on a subaru? Don't know who oilgeek is but i don't care
@datboifixit1995 his video is far more scientific than yours and has 3.2M views so there is that. My jeep has a side mount filter, I hold the gas pedal down for a few seconds to delay the fuel pump so it can prime after an oil change. ua-cam.com/video/939WTeorBnQ/v-deo.htmlsi=58Q1O6Crh4f0A9xO
@MrTopHat4 never pre filled an oil filter and I've owned over 30 vehicles and it's never been an issue, like i said it's an outdated practice
@@datboifixit1995 of course you don't NEED to prefill the filter just like you don't NEED to run full synthetic oil but there is no harm is using methods that have been proven to reduce wear on your car. And telling people not to bother with prefilling is bad advice, that's why I said something. I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard of the motor oil geek as you are a mechanic like UA-camr yourself. He is very popular, and it never hurts to learn new things.
@MrTopHat4 there is absolutely zero proof that it reduces wear what are you even saying, CAT has even put info out telling people NOT to pre fill and you are potentially putting UNfiltered oil into the clean side of a filter when you pre fill, i will continue to tell people not to pre fill because it is 100% pointless I don't care what some geek says
You got a Toyota oil filter @ Walmart?!
@@marcelpatel9017 yep👍🏻
Good job. CVTs have no soul.
Your tire pressure is too high. The correct setting is 33 PSI. My 2025 LS came from the dealer at 40 PSI. The ride was somewhat harsh and noisy. I reset the tires to 33 PSI which greatly improved the ride characteristics.
Change that oil now, I wouldn’t wait for the GM recommended interval, wet timing belt and that Turbo will benefit from early oil changes.
Thank you
They seem to have hit a home run with this car except that they went back to using a timing belt which ain't bad until you have to replace them.
How you plugged in those drain seals again?
Caution! Every Chevy recommended oil change should be done by a Chevrolet or GM authorized shop so as not to void the warranty. It is highly recommended for direct injection, wet belt, turbocharged, and really any new car, the first oil change should by done in the first 1000 miles, preferably the first 300 to 500, those and in between recommended 7,500 mile oil change, can be done by the owner or other. This all for maximum longevity of the engine.
Uh oh it's big Chevy
lol
do I really need the ramps or there is enough room to unscrew the bolt as is? Thanks for the video guide.
@XMG3 there is enough room i think but with an oil pan down there too I don't think it'll be easy, but maybe doable
I recently got a 2025 Trax, found out about Buick Envista's like 2 days later and got pretty frustrated, but I want to remove the factory roof rails off of the Trax, this is the closest video that's popped up so far, but I'm only like a minute in
Congrats on using Mobile One Full Synthetic !
STOP SAYING "You know" !!!!!
If the vehicle has regular oil in the beginning, can you drain it old oil and put new synthetic oil instead?
@@nelsonsantos770 what do you mean like conventional oil?
@@datboifixit1995yes conventional oil as opposed to synthetic oil.
@nelsonsantos770 yeah you should be fine you use synthetic once you drain whatever is in there
Thank you; I'm going to try to find that drain behind the tire and hopefully that will fix my leak too!
Thank you this was very helpful! I just installed them by myself with no issues thanks to your video! For anyone who dosnt have a pry tool... a fork works!
Does your A/C compressor kick on and off every 5--10 seconds?.
@jessecool561 yeah I think so
I have the RS 2025 just bought it brand new. I checked the oil it was down about a half a quart. I just got the oil change today but it seems to run fine no issue so far I got about 3000 miles on it.
I bought my 2025 Trax 1LT a week ago I'm 6'2" I love this thing I'm 41 I don't need speed
I got my 2025 Chevy Trax back in July and added the crossbars and mud flaps. It took me forever to put both on but it looks great. I also purchased the liners for the inside and the trunk.
I just bought a 2025 two weeks ago, and had to drive it 550 miles home, and I had no issues whatsoever (I'm 6ft even). It's a really comfortable vehicle for sure
Amazon has a auto start/stop device, easy to install for about $20 w/shipping.
I have aChevrolet Trax 2024 too
The first video change oíl Chevrolet Trax 👍
How does the car run on mobil 1? Better than factory oil?
@@LaylaGomez-xb9cc seems to run good
That’s a very good looking car and no CVT is awesome.
I think the dealership puts in all the 5 quarts into the car
Most dealers won’t use a retail bottle like that they’ll pump it directly from a barrel with a measuring device.
@@Baker_king12 oh. I was just wondering why they always overfill it
On the receipt its 5 quarts of oil at 9 bucks a quart.
@@jemm.8277 oh lol yeah probably because they don’t care it’s not their car.
I just did it yesterday by myself. Good thing i fit under the trax without lifting it
Darn I was blind sided when I bought my 25 trax I got the 1RS same color but the interior doesn’t look nothing alike 8” screen for infotainment and no digital display for me 😢 got the key car no Ignition button will upgrade in one year for that 2RS model by the way my AC stopped working and just bought my car a month ago lol 😂 now the part is back ordered and I’m using the 2RS such a beautiful car
Had any problems with the car yet?
I'm about to hit 20,000 on mine. No problems.
I have 31k on mine. No problems so far
The reason for the road noise is the tires.
Just got mine Tuesday and I love it. I added a roof rack to give it a more sporty look.
Wow you save my day. Thanks
Which oil filter
I want one. I think the base model would actually suit me just fine. My local dealer had one for $21,900.
Will this hose fit a 2010 335i?
@malachibooth2549 not 100% sure check realoem
The metal bracket that t20 become lose over time. Has happen to mine.
Thanks for the video. But won't it affect the engine warranty if I change the oil myself?
@@xlarin if you're in the US, no it should not
@@datboifixit1995 I'm in Canada.
@@xlarin I don't think it'll void anything if you do your own oil but just google it
keep detailed records, receipts on the oil and filter.
Those oil change pans are garbage. Oil splashes all over the place unless you’re extremely careful. I found it better to just use a regular open pan and then pour the old oil into the empty new oil container or save a gallon milk container for future use. It’s much easier and cleaner when you take the oil to the recycling place and you don’t have the messiness that come with using the combination oil pan/container.
A neighbor has one,he has 24 k on it & no problems
How many miles did you go until your first oil change? I usually do my 1st change a bit early to remove any wear metals that might be suspended in the oil from the break-in process that the filter doesn’t always catch.
@deionhughes6867 from my understanding and research that isn't necessarily needed on new engines due to additives and what not, but I know a lot of people do it, but I didn't do it until like 6700 miles.
Great review I bought the 1RS just like you I love it.
How is the AC? Do you notice the power is affected when it is on?
Not that I have noticed
wait 5w-30? mine says 0-20.. wouldn't using a non recommened oil type ( 5-30) damage the engine?
First off no it wouldn't and second the recommended is 5-30
@@datboifixit1995 top of the fill says 0-20 owners manual says 0-20 but agree it will not hurt the motor to use a 5W-20. At least in the summer then go with the 0-20 for winter. The turbo breaks down the oil faster.
@@motorcitymadman146 my cap and my manual both say 5w-30
@@datboifixit1995 I dont doubt you, but mine is a 2025 LS with the 3 cylinder and the cap says SAE 0W-20 ACDELCO DEXOS
@@motorcitymadman146 2025 has a slightly different engine. it now is a e85/flex fuel engine for all 2025s. Probably results in a different oil viscosity as well. Follow your manual.
Does the rear seats have A/C or Heater?
Vents under the front driver, passenger seats blow into the back seating area. There's no separate controls in the rear.
I was looking at nissan kicks great gas mileage. But with 122 hp 114 torque and a cvt the chevy trax looks better but it seems to have the pick up the kicks didn't have. I'm afraid of the 3 cylinder but it's the new age 😂your video has been very helpful 👍
I would be more afraid of that CVT than a 3 cylinder haha
Thank you for your video, did you check the oil level the next day? Did it need more or 4.2 qt were enough?
Checked it today, it was good!!
@@datboifixit1995 thank you for letting me know, I will do the oil change by myself and I want to avoid any mistake!
I think it looks good yo
2nd.looks gud
May I ask what MPG are you getting? I guess you are around 3K miles by now
Over 6k actually and we average around 28
Hmm 🤔 Turbo-3 Cylinder and Chevy 😂 Too risky for my money 💰 your for sure a man of faith good luck 🍀
How does it handle at highway speeds between 65-80 mph?
Really well, picks up speed easily, mild road noise
To cheat yourself out of a sunroof because you jump to foregone conclusions there would be an issue is complete nonsense!!! 🥴🥴🥴
I've had like 5 cars with sunroof and they all had leaks, barely used them. Overrated feature
