Everybody has a void that tries to be filled and masked in a lot of different ways and its manifestation in some peoples' lives make them think there isn't actually a problem but it's always there and the root cause is our separation from our perfectly loving source who is God. There is corruption that exists in some places in religion but it doesn't reflect him and despite our brokenness and our sometimes unconscious rejection of him he still has steadfast mercy - so he sent his Son Jesus who lived a perfect life despite being as vulnerable as we are so that the gap between humanity and God was bridged again, and the consequences of our actions were paid for on the cross and we have access to his genuine love - it doesn't mean our lives will be free of negative things but it means that when our trust is genuinely in him - the original separation is genuinely reconciled and the negativity has the undertone of unconditional love which will last forever. The Lord is near to all who call on him, all who call on him in truth. The words of Jesus are right there to read in the books of Matthew or John so you can see who he is for yourself - and if you seek to know him you can know him - you don't have to take anyone's word for it
