Very nice Scott great idea. I'm probably going to try a few of those on a few aquariums.
You did a real nice job cutting and olacing the crates in... All the tanks look good with them... They are awesome to have pothos and other plants coming out of them
@@stubbsaquatics6080 thanks
Weigh them down for the oscars , Just in case
They are great allow for ventilation
Hey Scott These are life saver , literally
Those guys are so fast 😮. Beautiful tanks. I Like to cover everything. Sooner or later these bugger Allway jump. I lost one last discus during the pandemic. Could not get a cover in time. Cover advantage and disadvantages.
@@josepolanco1228 yes sir for sure
I use those partial lid and glass. I live i a last floor apartment ( hot in summer) i put a small fan ( those flat aquarium ones) on top of screen. Work great. Lowers temp by 2 degrees in 1-1/2 hr then turn off as need. Thank for the update Scott happy holidays
@josepolanco1228 yes sir happy holidays to you and yours
I love your planted aquariums Scott.
@@dannyaquatics thanks
Oh no he committed suicide. So sorry Scott.
Keep us posted! Also, if you film at night with other lights off you don’t have to fight the glare.
Very cool Scott, your shrimp populations will explode. At least mine did, they love the leaves
@@pattys_aquatics hopefully it will be good for the entire ecosystem
👍🎶
New intro!!! Nice.. I agree about restoration jars . If I had a minnow tank I might or possibly a guppy tank but not tank with expensive fish ..not that I should be a price on fish but I think you know what I mean
@@stubbsaquatics6080 yep totally understand about expensive fish. I think if I have good success I might try on other tanks right now it's baby steps
Cool
Grats on the new rig! Hope you enjoy every last second of it :D
What are the specs
@@BrendonM so my old computer isn't win 11 compatible. So I upgraded to a board that supports the AMD RYZEN 7 Chip and has wifi 6, lots of storage and 32 gigs of ram.
Your tanks are awesome Scott!
@@pattys_aquatics thank you Adam

@@stubbsaquatics6080 thank you so much
If the sand is as old as you say, then a lot of the nutrients would have been depleted by now. This would explain the leggy appearanc of the plants. They are struggling to reach the surface where the light would enable more photosynthesis. A good scattering of leaves would help in replenishing the nutrients into the sand, but this takes time.
Thanks for sharing!
Probably my favorite tank of yours I love all the fish in this tank
Beautiful healthy palnts and aquarium
What a beautiful aquarium Scott. Great video
Look at all those shrimplets
One key part of the whole dirted tank thing that proponents don't often mention is the quality of the most important key ingredient... your tap water parameters. I live in SW London in England, and we're borderline liquid rock here, with average Nitrates at 37.5. So the 'no water change' argument simply doesn't work. I live in a small apartment - they call them flats here - and I only have room for one tank, and no room or budget to install an RO system. Yet I chose to make it a dirted tank. And I have found a source for affordable RO water to go collect to cut with my tap water for (I'll say it) *WATER CHANGES*. Caveat Emptor... before you decide to go dirted because of the 'no water change' benefit, understand what your source water parameters are, and therefore what fish you can easily keep, and whether or not it will work for you.
@@ProdigalAquarist wow that much nitrates right out of the tap that's sucks I'm on city water no nitrates but I have real hard water though. Thanks for your comments I appreciate all comments

Great video razin! Thanks for putting this ❤️
@@TheSalient1 thank you appreciate your comments
Also now that I think about it, the plants are doing well due to the fish waste left in the sand from the 180 gallon tank. I suspect the original waste will run out at some point but since you have some shrimp and fish in it now the tank should be able to sustain 👍. Check out "wisteria", its an aquatic plant that grows like a weed and roots into dirt sand and even gravel.
