Intuitive Texture Painting// Upcycled Art
Hello friends!
Today I take you through this intuitive texture painting. I start with a pile of stuff and make it into something cool. Well, I think it's cool. This piece is actually my son's new favorite. You never know what will resonate with someone.
This was a really enjoyable process, and I think it's because I didn't have a plan going into it. It's such a difference experience when I'm creating intuitively vs a strategically planned painting process. I definitely feel more of that flow state.
Let me know what you think!

Abstract Realism//Turn Cardboard into Art!

Hello friends! For this project, I'm upcycling cardboard and turning into an abstract realism painting. The corrugated cardboard creates a really cool texture when parts of the paper are removed. Hope you enjoy the process and I maybe all that packaging from holiday shopping can be put to creative use! Patreon: patreon.com/lydiabroderickart
Surrealism Painting Featuring Dali as the Mad Hatter
Переглядів 2,5 тис.Місяць тому
Hello Friends! Welcome to my madness! This surrealism painting is part of a wonderland series that I started awhile back. Since I made Frida Kahlo into the Queen of Hearts in the last painting, I decided to make Salvador Dali into the Mad Hatter for this one. This concept took about 3 months to develop, but I think it was worth the time spent. Let me know what you think!!!

Textured Painting
Переглядів 4,6 тис.2 місяці тому
Hello friends! It's been a while since I worked with texture, and I was getting the itch to create a textured painting. In this video I take you through the process of creating a distressed background using acrylics on a textured canvas and then painting a subject with oil paint. This is a layered process that I have used many times to create a vintage effect. If you are interested in the in-de...
Monochrome Painting Process "October Moon"
Переглядів 2,3 тис.2 місяці тому
Hello friends! This week I am taking you through my painting process. This painting is called "October Moon" and I used one of my favorite methods... Black and white on a black canvas. I don't know why I love black canvas so much, but I do. This painting took longer than usual as I used oils from start to finish and I had to let layers dry before moving on. I think it has a somewhat mysterious ...

Realistic Hummingbird Painting
Переглядів 2,8 тис.4 місяці тому
Hello friends! Meet Gumdrop! This is a painting of our little hummingbird friend based off of a photo that my fiancé took. I really loved the photo because of the sunset colors reflected off of her iridescent feathers. I am really going to miss our feathered friend, but fall approaches and they will soon be embarking on their long journey south. It makes me a little sad. Anyway, I hope you enjo...
Painting a Rose in Acrylics// Abstract Background
Переглядів 3,5 тис.4 місяці тому
Hello everyone!!! Today I'm painting a rose on an abstract background. I am not a floral artist... Infact, I usually avoid painting flowers. However, I have recently wanted to up my flower game in order to incorporate these blooming buds of wonder into some of my concepts. Honestly, painting flowers has always seemed a little boring to me. So, in order to make it more interesting, I thought "Ly...
Black and White Painting// Portrait
Переглядів 3,5 тис.4 місяці тому
Hello Everyone!!! This video is really my process for creating a black and white portrait painting. Sometimes I find color too distracting and prefer to concentrate on value and form. I think this painting would lose some of its moodiness if it was in color. What do you think?

Does upgrading show more if the process? I think I missed some
What is a hardener, a type of glue ? Amazing work 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What substrate did u use for the painting? Wood or canvas?
I used canvas.
Stunning, I loved every bit of it.
Hello thank you for sharing your video"s ..I like to know which varnish you use when you use oil and acryli paint on one painting...
Потрясающе! Спасибо!🎉
The stencil, to me, looks like a mermaid's scales. Not like waffles.... Maybe your son was hungry?! 😅
Lydia, what is the name of that large, flat short handle brush you used first? I have seen them in demos but have no luck searching.
This was super helpful! The only time I’ve tried tracing with carbon paper, the areas where my hand rested on the paper as I traced ended up rubbing off onto the canvas and they wouldn’t come off. Anyone know if it’s just cause my carbon paper sucked or what?
This was fun to watch, you are usually so calm and collected and have such a great imagination. To see you just like I would be (only even worse) is inspiring and I loved your interactions with your fiancé 😂
I thought the original collages were nice enough to hang…but you have improved them beautifully. Lovely work.
Wow gorgeous ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Lots of ideas. Love the textures and colors! Look into cake decorating tools. I did this once with dry wall putty. I used the leaf ones with ribbon ones and the small rounds. You age right in the process of creating. I like to create, not in-depth prepare. Great work as usual.
Thank you, Amelia! I have a surplus of cake decorating tools. I was a Pastry chef for many years. I should dig them out!😁
your work is amazing ❤
Love this ❤❤❤
This came out great! Very inspirational! Thanks for sharing!
I'm so glad you like it! Thank you!!!
I love this painting so much, it reminds me to take time and play and have fun and discover 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you! I'm so glad you feel that way! It's a struggle sometimes for me not to get caught up in details and this process throws all that out the window and allows for fun and exploration.❤❤❤
This is SO amazing. ❤❤ The way you can turn a blank canvas into something so beautiful blows my mind every time I watch your videos 🤯🤯 Thankyou for being so open with how you create. 💖🥰
Thank you so much, Judith! I'm glad you enjoy the process.😊💖
