Hinge installation is very exacting, even more so with butt hinges that have no built-in adjustment mechanism. Consequently, routing a recess for the hinge leaf is the least of anyone’s problems; the real challenge lies in routing the corresponding housing for the jamb leaf of the hinge. That’s the unforgiving part because you have to get the positioning perfect while making sure everything is plumb. Using a jig like this one is the mark of an inexperienced (amateur) installer: sure, you might get it right if you’re very careful, but it’ll most likely be after a good number of trial-and-error attempts. The practical way is to use a full-length jig that can reliably transfer the housings from the door to the jamb without measuring. You don’t have to buy an expensive jig; you can make one out of a strip of MDF. That’s where you can use this jig. But not for routing the individual housings.

Is their any trades that you can’t do that you would like to have a go at(like carpet fitting or bricking etc) thinks it’s cool you can do a lot of the stuff yourself already!

So can i just suggest if the trigger wheel tool does not fit , it may be worth spinning the crankshaft 360 degrees as the crankshaft operates 2 cycles for every 1 cycle of the camshaft.

i was thinking about buying a nail gun for fencing. have you used the stanley nail on many fencing jobs? do the 16 gauge nails hold fence boards the same as 18 guage nails? would you recommend a stanley nail gun as budget friendly setup for fencing?

Had RAC came out yesterday for a flat tire, they say online the have universal tools to take off any tire but they actually don’t carry with them or spear tires

Never with RAC again. One bad experience with left with a sour taste in the mouth. Car broke brown, instead of sending a mechanic, they sent a tow truck to tow my car to the nearest forecourt on m25 at 1am with kids and wife in the car. Completely stranded
