In terms of killing in this game. Noah says near the start of the chapter that they don't want to do that. "Lets avoid killing from now on" or something to that effect. I guess even if they die in "gameplay" in lore they just get knocked out(?) I agree with your Consul K take. He's Based as hell. I love villains that enjoy what their doing.

Combat is EVERYTHING even if the options start out limited. Check out some of the builds and strategies for the Seraphic Ceratinia (non-spoiler superboss) and the records for chain attack damage. I have 300 hours and could still play the Archsage's Gauntlet all day multiple different ways. Still have some Soulhacker Arts to max out if I want. Not sure I've seen someone stick with the game for 5 hours who wasn't liking it. Props for your patience. If you're only this far I'm assuming you're doing a lot more battles than you need to, though!

The gameplay with all the Xenoblade games tend to take a short time to stack on different mechanics and eventually there's quite a lot there to work with, including creating best setups and so on. It may still not end up being your cup of tea but it does gain some depth. As with the characters being "stupid", they're very much supposed to be brainwashed in a way. Having grown up under the constant propaganda and a singular way of life, it makes sense that they wouldn't simply change their ways immediately. That's something I greatly appreciated, I would've found it incredibly unbelievable had they all started walking off to Swordmarch with no reluctance. There's more that could said on this point but it involves watching a cutscenes you'll probably encounter in the next part.

So you're definitely right, the main reason to play the game is the story lol Your main problems with the game are the tutorials and the combat though so I'll say a few things about them, since I think the combat is really fun Xenoblade games have always had SUPER complicated combat, especially XC2, and the tutorials in that game were not great and a lot of people were completely lost. With this game it feels like they didn't want to repeat that so they're a lot more hand-holdy, that will stop soonish so don't worry As for the combat itself, yeah it's very slow at the beginning. You can just sit there and win for now but I'll give a few tips for later. The biggest things to winning are preparation before the battle (accessories and stuff) and art positioning/timing during battle. I noticed sometimes you'll use Edge Thrust behind the enemy which is where it gets bonus damage, but you don't use Sword Strike on the side of enemies as much to Break the enemy (it doesn't work on the front or back). This is what it meant by art combos, you Break, Lanz will Topple, Eunie will Daze, but they can't do that unless you break first, and this is a huge part of combat later. You did break a few times but it looked like it wasn't really on purpose So many things aren't unlocked yet and you'll continue to unlock new main parts of the combat all through chapters 2 and 3, and even a few little things later. I'm excited to see you get further into the game, I've subbed!

One thing to remember is that xenoblade 3 is connected to 1 and 2 (also, the game gets MUCH prettier as it goes on)
