Why I joined Army ROTC instead of Navy ROTC
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
Why i decided the Army ROTC was a better choice for me. Nothing wrong with the Navy though :D!
Very honest !
I would like to do NROTC but apparently they don't commission reservists after Navy OCS and they mostly want unrestricted line officers. AFROTC also does the same thing/is stingy with it. I am thinking of AROTC because of the options and for being a reservist.
Would AROTC be better to actually choose your mos and be in the reserve/guard? Bc with AFROTC it's like a lottery.
afrotc does send some people to reserves. unlike nrotc, afrotc commissions "non-rated" officers (equivalent of Navy's restricted line officers) all the time. in fact, most afrotc cadets who commission end up in a non-rated position.
@@kenlandon6130 the thing is afrotc recruiters told me that in AFROTC the vast majority of cadets go into active duty and only a handful get to go reserve or guard and those who go reserve or guard are mostly pilot slots and that trying to go reserve or guard is highly unlikely and very complicated. In AFROTC they make you list 10-15 officer mos' and you randomly get one. AROTC makes you choose out of three 3 branches and they won't hesitate to give you reserve or guard so I feel more comfortable with that tbh.
@@ericcr6780 That's pretty accurate.
Hey Andrew im curious about joining rotc and am still in high school. Is there anyway I could contact you ?
Hey sorry this is a bit late i just got access to my your channel again after a few years haha. Let me know if you still had any questions.
So what are you brunching after Rotc or are you still in the program I'm not trying to confuse you with this comment.
Do you have to take the ACT to join army ROTC.
If your not prior, then yes, you need a 21 composite to get contracted for a scholarship but you can still take rotc without a contract.
@@anddrew56 But does that mean I can still do ROTC without any need for an ACT score?
You can do sat too
I don't know if you'll respond since this is an older video, but I am currently debating between enlisting and doing ROTC. If I did ROTC through the Army, my top choices would be an artillery officer or Infantry officer. I know this is a competitive field, so what would you recommend to have an edge? Is it just a good PT score, and GPA? Is there something else that can give me the edge over other cadets? Thanks, and your videos are really informative!
I don't think getting into artillery or infantry is that hard. I know that officers get much better pay than enlisted. But officer tend to get all the smoke if their enlisted member fails to get the job done. Enlisted member do get chewed out but it's more by the officer that's is overseeing you.
What university do you attend? Also is there an age limit? Can transfer students join? Is everything the same for every university?
Sorry for that late comment, i attend southern university of baton rouge in Louisiana. There really isnt an age limit unless your over like 35 you might need a waiver. Yep all that is different is you take rotc classes and do training. Transfer students can join but be aware you must be able to get obtain a security clearance and do a background check.
Hail mary im doing that now im 29 double major in accounting and marketing 🤪 infantry all the way 👌
What did the physical training consist of? And am I able to still do it as a junior?
Hey jerry! For PT we basically physical endurance like running a 20/60 splits on a track or doing a formation run for a few miles to lifting weights at the gym. We do PT to stay physically ready for any activity we do in our field.
Can you please tell me what type of documents should be needed?
Hey! yea, so for most ROTC programs, you need your HS transcript, diploma, ACT/SAT Scores, and an ID. If you have any more questions please ask me!
Wondering if you have any tips for getting selected for summer training like airborne or air assault school ? Thanks
Hey man! Yea just make sure you stand out from your peers and do your best during pt test. Schools like airborne has a lot of rucking so make sure you get used to holding all that weight on your back. Cheers man!
Great vid man I’m starting my first year in the fall and the video was very helpful!
Congratulations bro! And thanks for watching.
Im doing navy rotc and this video popped up, but Good luck in you military career man!
