Back in 2017, my wife and I got a 2 night reservation for what the picture showed and was advertised as a cottage right on the beach there at the main motel; however, when we got there we were told our reservation was 2-3 miles away. It turned out to be an old, run down house that had been turned into a duplex. The bed sheets did not look like they had been changed, the water from the faucets was rusty for several minutes, and several lights didn't work. And there was no television that worked. To make matters worse, the other side of the house was booked by 4-5 guys who played loud music and made a lot of noise until after 2 AM. The next morning I went to the main office and demanded my money back. After some arguing with an older lady who at first refused, I told her I was going to report her for false advertising. She then decided to refund my 2nd night. I later wrote a scalding review of the place and business practices, which someone assumed to be from their business refuted, but found my review and their rebuttal had been taken down a few days later. I would sleep in my car rather than use their facilities. And like you, we spent 2 more days at the Hatteras Island Inn and loved that place.

So rude 🤦‍♂️ go back to virginia. hatteras doesn’t need you or want you. This whole island is loved because of its shabbiness. The lady who actually owns this motel is 95 years old. You are not welcome if you’re just going to be rude.

I’m packing right now and I can see why it’s not fancy because it’s only a three star but still OK I’m staying at that hotel for three days tomorrow August 3 and it looks cool and I’ve been to the beach before but never this hotel but the beach is very good

Book the trip to sit in the house and watch tv and play candy crush the whole time you were here??? you got what you paid for should have done more research have plenty of nice rental houses but you researched motels again don't come back weekend-warrior 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

My wife and I stayed in that hotel. Not fancy but it was still nice. I'd stay there again.👍

We stayed in the center cottage back in 1997. It was the cheapest price we could find but we knew that you get what you pay for. So I’m thinking that you were shopping for the cheapest price but expected more.

In 1966 it was 1/2 abandoned, nothing but sand and trees. It was great.

If you want a Hidden gym, stay at Oden’s dock hotel above the marina

My wife and I have been going to Hatteras Island since 2004 and we learned about a lot of the photographic trickery the real estate agencies use to make things look more presentable when, in fact, its as close to a lie as possible. That being said, my wife just did a 4 second search for what you thought you were getting versus what you got and the website is pretty clear on the difference between them. All that was necessary was to scroll down to see the difference between the beach rooms and cottages and the village cottages. Hint: aerial view everything you want to rent.

Omg I agree with you! Worst place we’ve ever stayed anywhere. Mouse droppings, flies galore. The one tv was in the “living room” and you had to break your neck to watch it. Listen to this video and if you don’t, you’ve been warned.

We stay on the sound side of Hatteras. Our favorite place

Went to this hotel yesterday, and had to leave within only 30 minutes because of black mold on the ceilings and all over the tub and under the doors, the bed sheets had brown specs all over it, and their was no hot water. Also found 3 cockroaches in the room also with bedbugs

Just tried Jolly Rodgers two weeks ago and it was amazing! It beats Captain George's any day in my opinion...
