    How about some tips on pressure points fore and aft, when and how to start the new turn. ?

  • @maurimojo

    She didn't widen her stance as she said she would. At beginning she indicated plan of a wide stance (femurs not parallel). However, she seemed to ski with femurs parallel while highly flexing the inside leg. I think that flexion is what allowed room for the stance leg to get greater edge angle (and not due to wide stance)

    great instructor and great skiing. I taught the last 1/3 of the turn first, getting control of your speed and skiing uphill to stop. then the first 1/3, initiating by slipping the tips downhill . NOT HOPPING. then when they know they can control their speed by finishing the turn, the middle 1/3,.the part where you speed up crossing the fall line, is not nearly so scary. good emphasis on "S" shaped turns, not "Z" shaped turns. mount baker. Funny how Airplanes would actually turn in the other direction, if they lean right, they turn right. But Skiing is very counter- intuitive, right?

    Why do you need the pole plant? It looks that the movement of the elbow whilst planting the pole is contrary to the movement of the shoulder and confuses me. So the shoulder is contrary to the ski, it the elbow is same movement as the skis

    Show an example of being on a hill that steep with hard pack or ice (i.e. eastern United States skiing) and then we'll see how confident you are to put your weight on your outside ski.

    When you get better and more confident on moguls, you will find it easier and more fun to pick a straighter line down the hill, rather than too much traversing. Like anything it takes some practice. It helps to stand at the top of the hill and watch really good skiers. Most resorts have locals who really know the hills and will show you the way. Some resorts have mogul lessons for advanced skiers. Ask your ski school.

    Its less about technique. Its more about skis. I has been told by instructor as advanced and was struggling on ice. Took some lessions, they told me i am good but this is ice and and will be bad. I asked about my skis , I heard thay are fine. Sharpening just made barely better. Once i tried stiffer skis and suddenly Eureka. My all problems are gone. Ice is just slippy in controllable manner. Its day vs night. Seriously

    I do this, but at 6'4'' 230 at 50 (fit but not ripped), it gets tiring now yet I am still "fast". It didn't when I was 40. I find it easier to ski faster and not round out my turns so much than to be more in control on advanced blues and blacks. I can only think of getting shorter skis or getting in better cardio shape and losing some muscle and fat along the way.

    Inclining at the start of the turn is key to get high edge angle early in the turn. Separate laterally on the fall line

  • @Scr3amapillar
    @Scr3amapillar 4 дні тому

    Good exercise on one hand. Can be hell on the other hand. As we see you sit back while you "touch" the boot (you don't really touch it, which is ok). This happens because you wanna have a very very low position (what you never ever have in reality). You could make it right, but you don't (at least not in the video). Explain what your body position should look like on which point of the ski line you are. Where are your hands in the fall line? Where is the mountain hand while you bend your knees? What's the timing of the up'n'down motion? How does your up motion has to look like? Where do you look? Position ankle-knees-hip-hands-ellbows-shoulders-head? ... Next thing: make a video from the bottom filming up and steady. It's not a Bond-movie, mate. No action needed. We need to SEE your timing and movement (and all best in slow-mo). My final words: This is NOT (!) an exercise for 99 %, because you people out there don't know what you do! You watch a 10 sec. short clip and think you can do it exactly right? What's next? Watch a clip of F1 and go 300 km/h on a highway? Please please please. Take lessons with professional instructors with knowledge and experience (this is not an exercise for a young, fresh instructor and should not be trained by beginners/intermediates on that speed level as seen in the clip)! Don't watch a video and go out there to say "i watched a clip on yt and now i'm a better skier". This is NOT how it works! Now i told you the rest of the story. Touching the boot is an exercise. - Yes. And that's it.

    • @Scr3amapillar
      @Scr3amapillar 4 дні тому

      To the guy in the clip: What i also saw: your right hand on the leftside turn is too high up and ALWAYS in front of your left hand. Why? It could be your "style", okay. But as an instructor (are you an instructor?) it's wrong. You, i'm sorry to tell you, show it wrong. It doesn't look good for a trained eye.
