The Apprentice Shocker: Michelle Niziol Fired in Week 1 – Now a Multi-Business CEO!
In this episode of Beyond the Boardroom with Aleksandra King, I sit down with Michelle Niziol, a powerhouse entrepreneur who was fired in Week 1 of The Apprentice UK-but has since built a business empire. While others might have seen an early exit as a failure, Michelle turned it into fuel for success, proving that resilience, strategy, and self-belief can take you further than any TV competition.
🔥 What we discuss in this episode:
1. What REALLY happens behind the scenes of The Apprentice? Michelle spills the truth about the gruelling selection process, the psychological pressure, and the boardroom tactics that make or break candidates.
2. Why she applied twice before making it onto the show-and how a last-minute decision changed her life.
3. The unexpected emotional toll of The Apprentice and why Michelle nearly quit before even starting.
4. The “Week 1 Project Manager Curse”-what went wrong, what she learned, and whether she regrets stepping up as a leader too soon.
5. What Lord Sugar didn’t see-Michelle’s huge success after the show, running multiple businesses in property, finance, and mortgages.
6. Business lessons from reality TV-how The Apprentice experience shaped her mindset and approach to entrepreneurship.
7. The challenges of being a woman in business-Michelle opens up about dealing with stereotypes, proving herself in male-dominated industries, and why confidence is the key to success.
8. How therapy changed her life-Michelle shares how working with therapists and psychologists helped her manage stress, set boundaries, and redefine success.
9. The importance of work-life balance-from business mogul to hands-on mother, how Michelle transitioned from a relentless workaholic to a leader who prioritizes both business and family.
10. Why women must negotiate harder-Michelle and Aleksandra discuss the gender pay gap, self-worth in business, and why women often undervalue themselves in negotiations.
11. The power of confidence in business-why Michelle believes that most women struggle not with skills, but with self-belief and asserting their value.
What’s next for Michelle? The businesses she’s running, new projects on the horizon, and her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
💡 Key takeaways from this episode:
1. Setbacks don’t define you-how you respond does.
2. Resilience and adaptability are more important than titles or reality TV results.
3. Confidence is a skill that can be learned, and it’s often the biggest differentiator in business success.
4. Women must own their worth and stop undervaluing themselves in negotiations.
5. Success is about balance-money alone isn’t the goal; changing lives and making an impact is.

Are you not that person who quit The Apprentice in middle of a task? 😂😂😂😂

Just kidding. Appreciate the interest:)
Who gives a shit
Oh, for G. sake , we’ve all had enough of the precocious beings on the Apprentice and more than enough of Lord Sugar !!! Time to shelve it !
Then why on earth are you here? I get you though… it is annoying.
@NogHenson seems like you’re a bit obsessed?
Maybe a bit :)
Who cares
You?
You shouldn't have been fired.
Just shows you that even Lord Sugar makes mistakes
@@AleksandraKing you could have won!
She wasn’t fired. She walked out!
About time he fired himself. Cockney Barrow Boy!
Stop stereo typing
True, not always-but often enough that it keeps the system running just the way it is.
What a standard your year was! I am honoured to have been linked up with eleven people! How is this year's show which starts in a couple of hours going to live up to your golden year?
I have not had a chance to view it yet but messages are already coming in about who interview. Who would you like to see come on next?
@@AleksandraKing I would actually want you to propose a chart which I made about The Apprentice which scores track record. My mother has a Master Degree in Statistics from India therefore I have learnt an algorithm which I applied to this program! It works this way. If you win the task as a non project manager you get three points. If you win as project manager you get three&half points. If you lose the task as a non project manager and not in the boardroom you get two points. If you lose the task as a non project manager and in the boardroom you get one point. If you lose the task as a project manager you get half a point. If you get fired you get no points. Therefore altogether you got three points. Each of the tasks till you resigned you lost but never in the boardroom and none of those losses were as project manager. Your colleague Oliver Noel-Oser altogether got five points because he won the first task as a nonPM (three) then lost as nonPM¬ in boardroom (two) then was fired (zero). I'm hoping I haven't lost you as this was complex for me to understand myself. BTW I know you'd have made an amaze PM! If you decided to stick I predict you'd have gotten far-I wished you stuck cos I predict&felt I wish you went farther in the process! Yeah please promote my theorem. I am honestly saying I was planning to patent it but you can use it. It is not always a measure of success-it doesn't always predict! For example in Season Eleven Richard Woods had eight wins-two as project manager and never in boardroom but didn't get to the finale. Also in Season Eighteen Phil Turner had nine losses-few as project manager and several visits to the boardroom but got to the finale! I was planning to patent this but I felt you can take this ideas and making a fortune with it! Credit me&I'll have half the shares😉
@@AleksandraKing I, to answer your question would like to see the runner-up of your year! Have you heard of Courtney Wood? Your year was a large group in a large mansion in a large board room therefore I don't know if you've all met each other or even whether you spoke to him cos you resigned prematurely. I'm guessing you know who he is💜Please get him on! The reason I suggested him is because he reminds me of myself! I am twentynine now, he was twentynine turned thirty on the show. 3 things me&him have in common which is photographic memory, living with parents even in latter twenties&being distinct. I would adore to have him on because he represents people like me
@@AleksandraKing It is Valentines therefore I am actually going to ask you to interview my "The Final Five" crush? Guess who my crush is? Obviously it is a girl's name cos I'm straight! (I mean Courtney Wood has a girl's name but he's obviously not the crush-he's a guy!) I'll let you into a secret, I have a crush on Frances Bishop! She was twentyfive when the show was recorded and I was about twentyfirst birthday yet age is a number! Honestly though isn't she so so so so cut
@@deepakdinakaran180I have a crush on @aleksandraking 🥰😍
wOW
You are amazin
You are too kind :-)

Much respect for Michelle ❤
GO TO HELL!
Loved the episode with Gene. Integrity in business is an undervalued trait
The show was so much better in the Mark Wright and Aleksandra King years
Great podcast. Really enjoyed this
Thanks. So happy you enjoyed it. The episode after this, is with Gene Folkes, from Apprentice USA, who went toe-toe with Trump. When you get time, please me know what you think 😊
Lolol... You're taunting a Luigi. And you've definitely earned it.😅
I'm intrigued what you mean by 'taunting a Luigi':)?
Aleksandra is just a very strong / confident interviewer! 😂
Thank you Aleksandra for being such a grwciois host and making me feel extremely comfortable throughtout this process. Youre AWESOME!
I appreciate your honesty. It is brave of you to stand up for yourself the way you did. Its also brave that you are speaking about this now. Thanks for coming on and hope to have you back soon!
Gene Folkes is a fascinating man, who got into full blown arguments with Donald Trump while appearing on The Apprentice. Watch this trailer to get a taste, then watch the full epsiode. Share your thoughts, comments and questions here =>
GENE is a smart man... glad to have him as a friend.
He was brave coming on. Completely open and honest about his experience.
Episodes 1 and 2 were great - looking forward to more!
If The Apprentice is a game, and Lord Sugar is the most powerful player, does that make him a queen? 😅
If you are referring to chess then he would be the King - most important but not the most powerful/dangerous on the board. This would be the Queen. My personal favourite...

My reflection : You can’t be nice in business. You have to be bad and strong 💪
🎉
Hmm
You know what you know :-)
I would..be fabulous
You might be with that confidence :-)
Who would have thought what goes on behind the scenes! Really cool to hear 2 reality TV stars talking so candidly about their experiences with each other ... a series winner and the the COOLEST candidate ever! 😍😅
Thanks 😆.... Mark's story shows the importance of focus, persistence and dedication to your goals. I hope you took as much from the conversation as I did!
Mark is am inspiration and shows that, people with grit are able to overcome insurmountable obstacles. What an honor to be in such an exclusive class of entrepreneurs, dreamers, and world chsngerd.
What an honour to have you! It’s no small thing to stand your ground and disagree with Trump during your time on the US Apprentice. Can’t wait for your episode to reveal how it all unfolded!
Exciting! 😃 ... Good Job Aleksandra!
Upcoming episodes include some fascinating gossip. Watch Gene Folkes! 😉
I really enjoyed interviewing Mark. He was open and honest, even allowing himself to be vulnerable at times. Only the most confident people-confident to the core-allow this type of vulnerability to come through. He went from being broke and sleeping on a hostel floor to selling his business for millions. Clearly, he has what it takes: the right personality, the right attitude, and the right work ethic. Yet, he remains a genuinely nice and humble person. This is Part 1. Part 2 will be released in two weeks, at the same time-6 PM GMT on Wednesday. I hope you enjoy this episode and think I’ve done a great job as the interviewer and host! 😊
😘 🥰
I don't know if anyone is too lazy to get out of bad situations. People usually need incentive to escape and some people don't have the means or a suitable exit plan, but otherwise I agree that you have to escape negativity and find the positivity. Be around people and do activities that represent the best parts of who you are.
Good point. I guess I should reword 'lazy' to 'too comfortable'. Sometimes its the change that scares us the most.
I think it's a brave and wholly respectable decision to exit the process when you felt you needed to. You are somebody who clearly wants to embrace the positives and escape the negatives. Your mental health comes first before any business process.
Thanks ☺️. I believe every person should take ownership of their own lives - and I believe that if you find yourself in a toxic environment, you have a responsibility to yourself to walk away from it. Unfortunately too many people lack the bravery to do that, they are too scared to make a change and just put up with sub-standard lives 😔.
Scott was going to get fired anyway! He appeared to be a bit of a sociopath!
Lol. I don't think he is a sociopath. I met him in real life. Seems very normal to me!
Cute
Me, or the monobrow?
True words.. CM punk has said simular about the end of his career in WWE here ua-cam.com/video/_aO8qqqpACU/v-deo.html
Fair comment... You did the right thing. Do you maintain that the producers sabotaged the sweets? Did the team consider a United walk out protest??
@@AleksandraKing Thanks for response. I recently watched Scott Saunders talking about why he quit. I'm sure you'd relate very firmly to his experiences. I think the show is great TV but don't approve of some of the goings on.
