I bought off eBay and unfortunately it's battery had leaked ruining the circuit so I constructed a replacement using 2n3904 and 2n3906 transistors and 9 bright red LEDs. I wanted it to look similar to the original and flash a short pulse every 0.5 seconds which it does. 😄👍

Here I add an led to the signal meter of an old Moonraker major CB radio in which the bulb has long since blown. It's an easy mod, just check the polarity of the old bulb wires with a multimeter, add a suitable resistor, in this case at 13.5v a 730 ohm is okay then a led, stick it back where the bulb was, glue it. That's it, jobs a good one!

I got a cheap CB from eBay because there was something wrong with it but the seller couldn't quite manage to remember what. Disappointing test, CB didn't reach at all which was surprising. PMR did okay on 0.5 watts but I forgot to save the recording. PMR on 1w was better.
