Preparing and Planting Fall Food Plots

Working to get our fall food plots in ahead of big rain that’s on its way. The corona virus made getting some of the things I was after for this project a little more difficult, so some compromise had to be made. I think we should still come out okay. I’ll keep you guys posted on how things come along. Planted a seven variety blend of seed including triticale, oats, winter peas, clover, chicory...

New Shop Under Construction (Fly Over)
Your video quality set the bar high for others to observe and learn from. A product review that is only from on the seat of a sled or quad is next to useless. But you took so much time to set up various camera approaches that truly showed the Tundra in all its form. I could see what I liked and didn’t like, it was a real pleasure to watch all 19 minutes of it. I currently have a 2022 Yamaha VK540 which is a capable work horse but not a lot of fun factor. At 700+ pounds it is a beast to maneuver. Now I’m contemplating a change. I chose the VK540 because I am old school and want to do my own repairs…always slow to embrace the new technology in the computerized sleds. Thanks, good work!
They're fi they run rich keep an extra plug with mine
Have the same issues with a 2012 550 grizzly. Going to try this over the weekend! Will try to remember to post results
Seems I have to replace the plug once a year. It is carbon buildup as far as I can tell. My manual does not say how to lean out the carb setting. I have had issues with the idle jet which I cleaned. Thanks for the video.
My Big Bear routinely fowls the plug. Any suggestions?
@@parkland4530 There could be many reasons for this and I have little information regarding your machine and its current mechanical condition… with that said, how is the plug fowled? fuel, oil, debris, etc? I would guess if carbureted may be fuel rich due to carb calibration or choke issues and would look there first? That is definitely a guess and could be something entirely different… Sorry, hard to troubleshoot without knowing a lot more/looking it over…
Mine was doing the same thing. I pulled out the fuel pump and found a bee and a fly inside of the tank. they were being sucked up restricting the fuel flow. I also found some oil in my air filter housing. This wasn't the cause for the stalling but it was a sign of a defective PCV valve or blocked engine ventilation system. If the engine can't breath, it can't idle.
Thank you for your video, same thing on a 700 2011 I just bought, went through injector cleaning additive and all, finally replaced the spark plug, runs perfect now.
hey we went tp picute rock and took a tour boat out was really a great day ty for the idea and a nice fun trip
That’s awesome!
Beautiful thanks for sharing!
Had the same issues. Chase all the same things. Fuel filter, air filter, flushed the fuel tank...... changed the plug like you said and it runs like new again. Thanks for the tip!
What year is your machine?
It’s a 2015
@@jplotkin3380 ok. That explains the difference in plugs I’m coming up with on my 2013
Hey I have 2013 grizzle 700. What spark plug size did yours take? Thanks
Believe it was a ngk r CPR7EA-9 but I’d pull it to confirm, consult owners manual or call dealer to be sure for yours
@@jplotkin3380 thanks for the reply yeah that is what I’m coming up with also. But I’m also seeing lmar6a-9. Might call dealer tomorrow
My quad is 200 miles away in my hunting cabin I’m trying to get stuff ready for service for my next trip. Should of pulled it last trip
will be trying this next. I've done the fuel strainer on the fuel pump, air filter, changed out the gas, cleaned sensors. Will probably just replace the fuel injector and the spark plug and hope for the best. Thanks for the video. Will let you know what happens.
Well did that fix your issue ?
Kinda been there done that…give me the tundra & the dogs lol
where did you get your mudflaps?
They are k utv rock knocker double d hd’s ordered directly from the manufacturer
Your dog is having a crap @ 0:25
Ha! Keen eye
I was torn between ordering the Tundra 600 ACE or the Renegade 600 ACE. yesterday, I ordered the Renegade. I figured this sled would be good for a beginner that has never owned one. Maybe next year will give my wife the Renegade and go for a Tundra. I can't remember the breed of your dogs, but wow what energy. If you don’t mind me asking what state are you in? Thanks for the video and look forward to others.
I think that is a good decision regarding getting into the sport. The Renegade will allow you to do many different things on the snow. We are in northern WI. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for video ... I was having booging down after warm up or stalling so I changed the spark plug it helps better but doesn't solved issues with bogging down when you running up the throttle. So you think it's injector on my 07 grizzly?
Could be, it’s hard to diagnose on brief written descriptions. This video was made to help point a guy in a possible direction if the causation of the stalling and backfiring wasn’t found or obvious through complete troubleshooting. If you’re able to rule out ignition as a source of issue, the air filter is reasonably clean and the intake unobstructed, allowing you to rule out intake air delivery as an issue, I would focus on fuel delivery. If the fuel system is otherwise not leaking or blocked somewhere, There is an in fuel tank sock on the fuel pump that can be checked/replaced. This sock and a micro screen in the fuel injector can become partially blocked. The fuel injector can fail in other ways as well as the fuel pump. It’s been my experience the condition of a used spark plug and/or fuel injector could be the problem as a result of the fuel injector micro screen becoming partially blocked when stalling and backfiring are experienced with the machine and other notable performance issues are not present. Replacing the plug and/or injector is a way to possibly remedy that problem. Just throwing parts without ruling out other problems may or may not work out, that’s kind of a gamble. I am not a certified Yamaha mechanic, so take all of this FWIW.
@@jplotkin3380 thanks.. that help a lot for steps you gave me..
what engine did the boats have and how fast could you get them going. seems like they ran good when not 5 foot waves lol
The white 33 lightning ran 84 with twin merc 496ho’s, the blue 35 lightning ran 94 with twin merc 575sci’s turned up and the 38 donzi had twin merc 500 efi’s, not exactly sure what that one ran out to.
hope someday you get a trip up to the apostle island its very beautiful sandy island beaches. lots to see and do we hope to get there again this year or next year. we'll try to get a group together make a week trip out of it. its 6 hours from se wisc. but a great drive. hope chat more ty
Yes, we always did want to go to the apostle islands. One day we will have to. Unfortunately everyone has sold their boats with this unprecedented market but I do hope to get a performance center console once the prices come back to earth a little. I have footage from a few fun runs we did that I will have to put together. Otherwise we will have to wait till we buy again.
hey all I really liked your nice video I could not believe you were up in the upper michigan on lake superior. I was amazed to see that and all the nice areas you showed us very nice video thank you so much we are big pleasure boaters also and live in southern wisconsin was wondering why u were up there boating and where you were from we are always loking for nice places to see and hang out ty let me know more
Glad you liked it! We all went to high school together and that was a regular snowmobile destination for us since we were teenagers. We’ve been all over the country for performance boats and figured why not bring the boats up and make a run to see the lakeshore. Not a real common spot for pleasure boating but it was fun. It’s about a 5 hr ride there from se wi, well worth it to see the sights!
@@jplotkin3380 wow. We're ftom southern wisc. Also. Use to be big snowmobiles also. Had places west of Minocqua. And Winchester. We went all over the western up. From hurley to Marquette. Lots of riding. Not go.much now for 5 years lots more boating though. Its warmer . Not to fond of the cold. But we been boating for over 30 years recently bought a bigger boat. So we can go .more places as time permits. We live in the Oconomowoc area. Looking for friends to go boating with. Hope we can talk more. Ty
My 300 does the same thing put a new spark plug in it still stalls
Bummer, I would probably go through the fuel system next
I’m thinking about getting the tundra. I was wondering how it performs in 2+ feet of powder. I was also wondering if the 65 hp ace is underpowered.
I would objectively describe the 600 ace as underpowered as compared to many modern snowmobiles, however it does get the job done and it does get through 2-3 ft powder. I have not experienced deeper with it. Albeit this machine has struggled to do some of the things I’ve asked of it, it’s done everything that I’ve asked of it and find it quite impressive as a result. You’ll find yourself needing to rely on technique as opposed to hp/track speed as it doesn’t create either. It only goes 55mph. But it does quite a number of things that no other sled I’ve owned/ridden can do. If you need a sled for utility/hunting/living in the woods this machine would be the one I choose every time, hands down. Hopefully this helps…
Nice machine !
Nice sled. Was gona buy a tundra last year ended up buying a expedition sport 900 ace. Love it.
Love the Tundra, I've had one now for several years and they are amazing sleds, gets me to where I want to go and back without fail. Nice for just taking your time and picking through the country side.
I love it now too for all the same reasons. I watched quite a few of your videos before deciding on buying mine. I’m glad that I did. Thanks for the help on making the decision to get it!
Cool. This waiting for snow here is getting old. 🥲
Hopefully sooner than later for you 🤞🤞
@@jplotkin3380 👊🏻
I love how quiet it is!!
Me too! I see more wildlife on it than any other machine
How do you like the Tundra.? Any improvements or comments you would like to share ? I ordered one this year, still waiting for it to arrive. I am really looking forward to it
I should really do a video about that… overall, I’d describe it as a great utility sled. It’s phenomenal for moving slow through the woods, breaking trail, doing work and dragging stuff around. It really is a blast to ride and if I could only have one sled that would be it. It doesn’t make a great trail sled or mountain sled if I’m to be critical but it can do both of those things. Regardless, I think it was worth every dollar.
Sorry to the fella who asked about the seat options, I accidentally removed your comment instead of replied: yes, I believe there are two passenger seat options available for this machine on the ski doo website.
Man these dogs are living their best lives out there. I wish my gsd could have that.
Nice property guy!
Really appreciate you watching!! Check out some of the other videos on the channel and let me know what you think! What do you guys want to see next??
Should I do a an update and walk through video on this?? Let me know what you guys think!
They really are the funnest sleds ever!!! I love mine
mine is currently doing the same thing and considering I’ve never changed it. Luckily, I actually bought a spark plug a month ago, so I changed it after watching this video and she fired up and runs perfectly. Thanks a lot man!
That’s awesome!
@@kuffs06 I have replaced the plugs many times and problem solved at least for a while. Taking a stab at cleaning the plug with vinegar, wire brush and torch. Will see how it goes. Thanks for the comment
I got the same thing but in 600 efi,,,, long track,,,, was mainly using it for hunting this past spring, it was awesome in the snow and slush,,, its pretty tippy tho but otherwise i love that machine,,, im kinda tempted to get one more machine but with the Ace engine, it seems super quiet
It is very quiet and smooth. Overall I really like this machine. I was interested in getting a chance to see how a two stroke matched up to the ace with this model.
@@jplotkin3380 More horse power apparently on the efi and less fuel efficient,,,,,, but its all good,,
There is a fuel filter inside the fuel tank, it’s a pita to change but it resolved my fuel/backfire/fuel starvation issues.
My issue going to get new spark plug already rebuilt they sent wrong plug so I used old spark plug redid timing several times adjust valves different setting cleaned new carb .dang hope this works
Turned out throttle neck was cracked sucking air one bolt ear couldn't see but a little crack in rubber coating
I have a 2013 grizzly 550. I keeps shutting off and the number 30 appears on the display. I've changed the plug, cleaned the air cleaner, engine fluids are up to the full marks. This all occurs after it's been road for a few miles. Any knowledge on this would be Greatly appreciated, thank you
Sounds like it may be a lean angle sensor, they can corrode and fail resulting in the code. It looks like there’s some videos on here on it. I think that would be a good place to start.
The dogs dig it!
Just ordered a 2023 Tuesday. Lt with the 600 ace. Rode a 2012 and fell in love for boondocking.
It’s a very good sled for that!!
Crazy a $3 spark plug brings a $10,000 machine to its knees. Reading the manual it says to use 91 octane which sounds crazy to me too.
Soon the problem will be $50 + in gas just to fill it up.
Great video !!!! answering just what i was wondering !!! Great info !!
Thanks for the super formative vid hows the sled holding up a year later
It’s holding up good, no issues at all. I’ve got the footage to do a one year review, just got to put it all together, hopefully will be out soon
think i may get one my self , how fast will it go?
Turns out not that fast, about 55mph is all she has. Makes a great utility/hunting/fishing/breaking fresh trail through the woods sled. Does not make a great groomed trail riding sled.
Unfortunately the conditions we found the next morning were no bueno, so I’ve got no ride video for y’all on this one ☹️👎
I wasn't expecting the ending 🤣🤣
Lol 😎
I’m rolling man! Lol
Hey! I have a grizzly 2011 550 and just pulled out my spark plug and it was filthy, SO I’ll be replacing the spark plug then replace gas with 98+ octaine. Should be good to go. Checked my error codes seems fine BUT some reason my code came up #42. Thx for this video. Very much appreciated. 😎👍
