Happy Thanksgiving Jeff!!!!
nice job, thanks for the kind words. may the force be with you. always.
How do you calculate fatigue for relief pitchers ?
@@toddhall7218 Good question! I don’t calculate fatigue for relief pitchers, but you could use the formula (batters faced) divided by (games pitched). Take Bruce Sutter, for example, in 1982. He faced 424 batters in 70 games. That equals 6 (batters). I personally don’t calculate fatigue for relievers.
Thanks Jeff. Well done!
Thanks for the video!
Anytime a Billy Joel lyric can be used in a video, that is a good thing!
Love to hear good comments on customer service for any company. The haters are the vocal minority!
Nice video, something to ponder
Really enjoy your presentations. Red Sox were stuck in game 6 in 1987, still had great players and of course Roger, but took years to move on
Good stuff Jeff. Thanks for sharing and ROLL ON!!!!
My goal is to have fun, recreate an era consistent replay as you said, and find the best lineup for each team. I also don’t overuse players especially pitchers Enjoy your videos and enthusiasm I think in ‘81-82 speed factor took over, pure hitters like Brett and eventually Gwynn made batting 300 plus fashionable again
Hi. I have the 87 set. Agree it’s a cool way to see a lot of future hall of famers and players I watched growing up Thx for your NL West team breakdown
Hi Jeff looking forward to your replay. You mentioned previously you use as played lineups.. my question is how do you handle the bullpen, do you only pitch players that pitched in the actual game? If not who do you have in the bullpen each day? Also do you play injuries? Looking for some tips to start my own replay. Thanks again
@@michaelkvitz8976 I try to follow the way the managers did in real-life, but I don’t necessarily do it exactly as they did. I use real-life injuries and incorporate them into the game. So, for 1987, I disregard injuries in APBA when I roll the dice. However, in 1981, there is a gap from June 12-August 9 when the strike occurred. I will be using injuries in the game when that happens. One rule of thumb I try to use with my bullpens is that when I have a righty starting, I’ll usually go with a lefty as the first relief pitcher. Then, if I use another relief pitcher, I’ll go with a righty. Also, I will bring in my closer in the 7th or 8th inning because that’s what they did back then. So I try to stay true to the era. Hope that helps!
How do you collate and enter stats into spreadsheet? What’s your procedure? Score a bunch of games and manually enter? Do you use tally method sheets or traditional scorebook? Would love to see the next steps!
@@farmermaggott Great question! I play a series using all 26 teams and then enter the stats into the spreadsheet. I use the scoresheets from the APBA website. They’re free to download.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Thanks!
What’s your plan for the replay? All of the games or one of the teams? A couple of the teams? Enjoyed this preview.
@@bigrevkev55 Thank you! I’m playing the full season, all 26 teams, as-played, using real-life transactions, lineups, and injuries.
Nice video, Jeff... When I do AS Played, I adjust injuries according how they occurred during season. If an injury occurs during game play, I ignore the injury from the Dice roll or If the Dice, boards, cards come up with injury, I declare that player injured for rest of the game... To do As Played injuries along with in game Dice, boards ,cards injuries, you find it difficult to have accurate results... Too many guys will miss valuable playing time.
Happy Birthday! You had me on the birthday
I wanna get 85 football at some point.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm making comments as I watch, but wow, I'm doing an 89 replay but seeing those Bears and Dolphins cards, I want to play some 85 too.
Great looking set. As a Browns fan, I'm looking forward to 1986. But I do need to know the Bears offensive and defensive starting lineup ranking once you play a game with them! Are they going to 40 and 40?!? Also, Willie Gault a B/A...I've never seen it reversed like that. He's a better Medium/Long WR then Short Pass WR!
I’m new to APBA love the game, the seasons available and the friendly folks who are willing to help with and questions I have
Thank you so much for this video! I have to tell you, you are an incredible narrator and a very interesting storyteller in how you recap what went on in your games. Very enjoyable to follow! Nice work!
The videos are great. We love them. Keep plying offline if it helps through these times even if you can’t do a video.
Hey Jeff, prayers for you and your family that things keep heading in the right direction. God bless!
Good take, Jeff. Well done! 👍
Hey Jeff, I didn't watch all of your videos, but I enjoyed the ones I did watch. If I had to give a suggestion for improvement, I guess I would say maybe try to include some photos or video clips to cycle through while you are talking. I know that ups the amount of time it takes to edit these videos, but if you have time, I think that would be nice. Looking forward to your next season. 👍
He's currently a TV color commentator for the Tigers. He is struggling with Parkinson's Disease. Also, he and former Tigers pitcher Dave Rozema were best friends. Word had it that they were both big outdoorsmen, loved to hunt and fish together. I don't know if this is true or not, but some time ago word had it that they bought a big chunk of property with a lot of land in Michigan, they and their families lived in houses that they built on that property, and apparently it was a big enough chunk of land that they could hunt and fish on. Again, that's anecdotal, but I heard that numerous times as a kid.
good stuff man... good ideas and helpful information..
@@idjester Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. Are you playing the basic game or the master game? Also, does APBA come with all the player carded or just some of the players? Thanks again.
Hi Jeff. Do what makes you happy. I also suffer from overthinking, mostly due to wanting to play too many projects and having too little time. I've long since dubbed this "Projectitis" on the StratFan Forums. Have fun, play what you enjoy, and try not to get too caught up in the fear of missing out. Nothing wrong with playing multiple projects at the same time.
as a fellow over-thinker....I can relate lol. Sounds like a great project!
I like your thinking process Jeff. I can definitely tell you gave this a lot of thought.
definitely agree!!
Good stuff Jeff 👏
First of these I've listened to, Jeff. Nice job! Great format.
I love watching APBA videos. Haven't bought it, though, because it's (in my opinion) prohibitively expensive to purchase.
Very interesting. Thanks
Good video.. so do you typically se as played lineups or do you always choose the lineups? I’d like to start a replay and debating whether to use as played or not.
@@michaelkvitz8976 Thank you! I typically play with as played lineups unless the game was rained out in real-life and never made up during the season. This happened frequently in 1981 because of the Strike.
Enjoyed your commentary.
Thank you!
Enjoyed the call. 👍 Do you play the basic game, master, or hybrid?
Thank you! I play basic.
Good stuff Jeff...thanks for sharing!!!! 😀
You’re welcome and thank you for watching!
