Finding Good Skiing with Touchy Avalanche Conditions
Mid-December in Southwest Montana - A nice storm system drastically improved the skiing conditions and snow quality, but drastically decreased the snowpack stability. Conner and I ventured into a classic zone to find some nice low angle powder turns and were rewarded with some fun early season skiing!

Wonderful weekend skiing the "white thunder" at Maverick Mountain at the end of January. The weekend started off with deep powder and stormy weather, and ended with frigid temperatures and bluebird conditions for a gorgeous backdrop while finding the hidden stashes!

Took advantage of the sudden onslaught of winter in this past fall to go for an early season couloir hunting mission. Haha oh good, I have company on the 1 ski club! Yeah those long spring days really let you get some vert and turns in, and so much great terrain in the La Sal... hope to be back soon for another round!

It funnels into Surprise. Pretty obvious from the lift but a bit tricky to find from the top…

Yep! Was short (probably about a mile) but was steep, bushwhacking, and talus scrambling to get to the snow. Should have skinned the snow but ended up just booting.
