We are the 2 Old Fartz Travelling .Although from an early age we both travelled, it was not until 2017 that we retired, packed our backpacks and set off on a global wanderlust. Our videos are about the steps we have travelled, the cultures, the people and the sights along the way. I've always said "Wisdom is gained through experience" I hope you enjoy our journey.

Spain- Rute and Iznajar. We spent 3 weeks in Rute southern Spain. Whilst there we also travelling to the nearby town of Iznajar. We definitely had some chillout time as well as go to the towns parades, Anis museums and fairs. Overall we could feel a sense of community, casualness and a slower pace compared to visiting a bustling city.

Albania _ What is it really like ? After decades of isolation, Albania is rapidly opening up to international tourism. With it`s mild Mediterranean climate, affordable prices make it a very attractive travel destination. We took a short ferry ride from Corfu Greece to Saranda Albania , staying there for 4 days. Then travelling to Gjirokaster by a tour company, then Berat and finally Tirana.
Albania- Berat The hidden gem that really surprised me.

Albania -Berat. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known as the "City of a thousand windows" due to the distinctive white Ottoman-era houses that climb the slopes of the two hills overlooking the river. We walked the historic neighborhoods of Mangalem and Gorica with their traditional white houses.

That was very nice, thank you.
I'm sending a huge hug 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 that was tired to the woman that opened her door to the pilgrim. Gorgeous marvellous woman. I would love to open an albergue or B&B along the Camino.
Great video Vic! I recognized most but not all of those locations. Where did you get the Ramly Burger? Somehow we still haven't done that. lol
It was called KG Baru Simpang Tiga Burger... not far from the metro or the bridge
Way too many ads! I couldn’t finish it as the ads are near constant breaks in the narrative. Sad!
I am not aware of the ads and have no control unfortunately. I also am not monaterized therefore don't receive any benefits. Thanks for pointing it out.
how dym sad? its automatic and you can use an addblocker or use premium. Before you talk badly you can see if the one making this free content actually decides this at least, sad :(
Is it better to prebook hotels or just turn up to the albergues?
yeah loch ness..😂 and btw. there is no such thing as ottoman style architecture. berat and gjirokaster are typical albanian architecture.
Sorry about that.
I hope you had a great time in Illyrian!!! A bit of information. Gjirokaster and Berat predate the ottomans by millennia and there is not one historical record that ottomans built one city in Albanian but attempted to destroy everything they could. Berat of course was rebuilt over centuries but it was not by ottomans but it was rebuilt by Albanias like everything else you see there. Only thing ottomans built was destroy churches and in that place built mosques. These cities are older than any ottoman and date back to Illyrian times. I hope you come back again I would most definitely invite you over to my home for lunch or dinner!!!
Great coverage. Really enjoyed watching this. Very professionally produced.
Thanks mate.
Great video. We walked exactly the same route in April 2024. It’s unforgettable!!!
Thank you.
Were there lots of drink / food and accommodation options along the way ?
It depends on where you are and what time and day.Obviously early on a Sunday many cafes are closed. In saying that overall we didn't go hungry.
@@vichanisch4361 do you know if the Spanish protesting about tourism includes the Camino ?
My girl repping Charnchai!! Hell yeah 🙏
Love your Post: We returned home here in Hawaii from our Portuguese Camino experience a couple days ago....What and amazing experience, We'll be back!
Thanks for that.We found that one Camino is not enough. We have managed three.
I am planning to do the walk with friends. I would like to learn more about Casa Fernanda?
It was truly a wonderful experience with the whole family. Most of her intentions as a host are expressed in my video. It is worth noting she has become very popular and I would try to book your bed as soon as possible. Buen Camino.
Thank you , very informative, enjoyed your journey
Glad you enjoyed it!
About to do my second Camino in 2 weeks, cannot wait. Loved your journey 😍 buen Camino xx
Thank you for both videos. You are good editor. ~Buen Camino
Thanks for the vid. Congratulations on your camino! It was a very nice 2-part series of your journey / pilgrimage. I dream of/ plan to do the Portuguese route. Now I know slightly what to expect. Take care & safe travels. Bom camino!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Girls.
Love your videos Vic xx
❤❤❤ your videos and commentary are wonderful and empowering! Thank you
Thank you.
❤❤❤❤
What dates were you on the Frances? We were on in 2017 as well.
Wow - BEST Camino video I've watched to date. So well done - congratulations and thanks for sharing. Proud to be an Aussie and to share your adventure online.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video. I stayed at hotel Ruas and Hostel Gloriosa. Good choices 😊
Thanks for the comment.Hope you enjoyed the camino.
Loved your video. We are wondering what to do now that we have finished the Frances. We watched one vid on the Portuguese and it showed lots of road walking and often without footpaths. Your video showed none of that and looked beautiful. You both did the coastal for a day and cut across to the traditional. We had given up on the Portuguese but you have put it back on the agenda. Did you encounter much road walking through traffic ?
Thanks for the comments ,much appreciated. We encountered a bit on our second day when we crossed over from the coastal. Afterwards occasionally but nothing too long or with the thought this could be dangerous. Hope that helps.
Heello- amazing drone,have a great day~🙌
Love these two videos!! You are a very talented filmmaker!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thank you for your kind words .I am in the process of making a video of our highlights of travelling in Greece. It should be ready in about 2 weeks.
Great video. What date/month did you start in Tui?
Start of May.Mornigs were cool ,but afterwards perfect.
Nice job, love the music. I'm leaning towards this route, thinking I'll get tired of the beach route.
Tui (GALICIA).
Love your videos! What city did you stay in after O porriño?
Thank you so much! After watching your video I believe that I will do the Tui to Santiago for my first Camino hike in March. The scenery was just what I was looking for.
I think you will not only enjoy the countryside but also the people and food .Buen camino.
Loved the trip. Very glad to have all of that ahead of us.
Thanks USA ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
What's the terrain like ? Is there any steep climbs?
No major inclines we found it much easier than the first few days out of St Jean Pied de Port in France on the French route.
These two vids were absolutely GREAT!! ❤ every minute of it! You showed and made us experience it as you experienced it. Besides my grandma used to take us to Ponte de Lima for the fairs ... a long time ago🥰
Thank you so much. I to find a lot of enjoyment reliving my experience on the camino.
Your video makes the first two days look straightforward and reasonably nice but many people have posted videos of this trip complaining that the start of the camino de Portugues is dull, with a lot of noise and traffic. I like the route you chose. What is your honest opinion of the first two days?
Thanks for the comments.I enjoyed those days, however they say walking close to the airport is uninteresting. We then cut across to the central route as I thought it would be more cultural as we live near the coast in Australia
How long did it take and how much did you spend?
It took a total of 14 days to reach Santiago with an additional 2 days relaxing in Tui Spain.Costs are a bit more difficult to explain. As there were 3 of us we decided to have private rooms as well as albergues.
Wow Vic Kath Sandy love watching your Portuguese Camino journey.
Sandy ,Kathy and the beer at the end of the day kept me going.
Great job Vic! Can't wait to experience it for ourselves.
Thanks mate.
Could you please share the route guide do you use for this Camino? Thank you
Which one is your favourite route?
There all different and I enjoyed them all.
Don't people camp on this hike..every video I see....its hotels and hostels
They do, however we travel full time and can not carry camping equipment.
What time of year did you do this walk. Love your video
Start of May ,thanks for the comments.
Tui (Galicia) A ver si nos enteramos, Vic Hanisch.

Great stuff mate! Heading on the Portuguese Camino in September and your video is a great help as well as being entertaining.
Thanks
Thanks for sharing. So many adventures during the last 6 years! what a life experience. Congratulations. xxx
Thanks Karin.
Hey Vic! How timely! I am doing this same route starting on September 23rd. Weather advice??
We did it in April and only 2 days of short rain.Mornings where cool.September should be much warmer. Be flexible, if the weather turns bad and you don't want to go on stay there. We met some of our now camino family on such an occasion.
