Live from The Armory in Minneapolis, MN. Gojira brought out Chino from deftones for a cover of Sepultura’s Territory from the Chaos A.D. album. This was the final night of the tour, and the only time this cover happened.

I've been looking forward to the super deluxe edition of Metallica's Black Album coming out in September. Hard to believe it's been 30 years! Sometimes Kirk Hammett gets a bad rap. But this solo from The Unforgiven rules. Lots of nuance in all of those bends, and some tricky pinch harmonics.

Growing up around Minneapolis, I always thought it was so cool that such a massive album (Rhythm Nation 1814) was recorded practically in my back yard. This song rules, and Janet has the sole writing credit. Bad ass! I believe the solo(s) were played by Dave Barry, who now plays guitar in the band on The Voice. Bon Jovi was my first concert, and the band that made me want to be in a band. I've always liked that Richie Sambora didn't need to play a million notes every time he took a solo (unlike many of his 80's contemporaries). Also, this solo was my introduction to pinch harmonics, and they blew my elementary school mind. (Say hi to my dog, Jasper)

EVH was, of course, a guitar hero of mine. For whatever reason, this solo alway resonated with me. I like the nuances with all the bends. Plus, that Chuck Berry section is fun. Where's my Crystal Pepsi?!

Nuno Bettencourt was a teenage guitar hero of mine, but his playing was pretty unattainable for my skill level back then. Many years of playing later, and this was still REALLY hard. Nuno is a monster!

One time I saw Alice in Chains in concert, and Jerry Cantrell's guitar tone was so good it made me want to quit playing guitar! 😆😩 I always loved this solo from "Man in the Box." Lots of fun with work the wah pedal as well.

Watch how often he inhales. Watch how he doesn’t hold notes out. Watch how often he asks the audience to sing for him. I love Phil. But his voice is shot from decades in the biz.

always good to have members of The Wedding Band come up on stage. You do not want to play in front of Robert Trujillo he might put a knife in your back and re-record your tracks without an apology.
