I bought the vinyl version of the boxset mainly because of the mono pressing of the album.. As you may know the vinyl mono re-pressings of the beatles from the mono boxset are incredibly expensive. I have been building a vinyl collection of beatle albums but I am going to start picking up the cd's
@@fernandomp418 That makes sense. I wish they’d do a standalone single LP of the mono remaster
I'm glad to hear of your appreciation for "Love"! Unfortunately, the Cirque du Soleil production closed this past July after running for something like 20 years. It was staged in a purpose-built theater at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, but the hotel changed hands and the new owners (Hard Rock Cafe!) are renovating the entire structure. I made it to Las Vegas just in time to see the show, and it was overwhelming! I'm sorry you missed it. There is a commercial DVD called "The Beatles Love: All Together Now" about the making of the show, you'll find it worth your time to chase down a copy. It would be nice if Cirque were to take the show on the road, but I haven't heard of any such plans. (P.S. -- "Giles" is pronounced with a soft g! He was present there the night I saw the show, which added an extra dimension to my pleasure in it.)
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey is a great song! haha. mother's nature son is the one I like the most among Paul's songs and Happiness is a warm gun is GEM ahead of its time and so influential.
@@fernandomp418 I do like Happiness is a warm Gun a lot. I forgot to mention that one lol
Great Videos! Keep it going ;)
John's attitude would change many times
@@kellypeterson2625 Yeah I guess if you’re so close to something, it’s hard to see it for what it really is. That’s true of artists and fans
I remember buying both of them in 2009. I was happy walking home with them.. But I was broke...😭
I have the stereo box set and I love it! Bought a 5 cd disc player on ebay and hooked it up to my living room sound system just to play them lol also now I have a copy of all things must pass on cd as well.
Very cool! Check out the mono box as well if you can!
You just have to remember... when we were growing up in the 60's these versions are what we grew up with. They still hold a special place in a heart when you play one of these albums from these 2 sets. My first Beatles album I owned was The Beatles Second Album and I still love it to this day because it was what I grew up listening to, not knowing what a butchering job Capital was doing to the UK versions. There is also sometime else to consider, the US versions were not just marketed with lesser number of songs because they were greedy, if was the publishing standard in the US and not applicable in the UK. That is something you will want to look into for yourself, because you probably don't believe it to be true.
@@terryprill2510 Thank you for watching and providing your thoughts. I understand that point of view completely and I was perhaps a little harsh in the video. I do think these are historically important and very interesting which is why I keep them in my collection. However, for the same reason many US fans still love these, I grew up with the UK versions so that’s just what I’m used to. The only album Capitol album I think is actually “worse” than it’s UK equivalent is Revolver because the UK version is just so perfect with all 14 tracks.
@@brandonware9335 Don't get me wrong. The US version of Rubber Soul is no way the masterpiece that the UK version is. How could you remove Nowhere Man and If You Needed Someone from the release which were so important to the texture of that album, and I wouldn't even touch Revolver as released in the US, missing so many important pieces in the puzzle and placing Lennon's work from it on Yesterday and Today? Terrible and unforgivable, so at least we can agree on somethings and still fine value in some of the US releases. Keep doing your work and always remember everyone is entitled to not always agree, that's what makes this life all so interesting.
You forgot Live at the Orpheum which was recorded in Los Angeles on the first Elements 2014 tour.
@@juliesmith2319 Oh yeah. I never bought that one. Does it come recommended? If so I’ll check it out
😂most underrated band
I can’t tell if you are joking or not based on the emoji
Hi there, I've recently purchased the Heaven & Earth boxset and it's a real treasure trove for the ProjeKcts especially two blu-ray discs containing all the ProjeKts performances in high resolution. I still haven't gone through them all. It is such a wealth of material. I highly recommend the whole boxset. It is worth every penny. I also enjoyed the New York KC concert with Gavin Harrison on drums plus reimagining of the studio albums. Anyway I really appreciate your deep dives. Take care!
Thanks for your thoughts. If I ever see it for under $100 I might pick it up but I can’t see myself paying more than that for a set which might sit on a shelf unused after I listen to it once. At some point in the future I’ll give the ProjeKcts another chance. Maybe I just need to be in a certain mood to fully appreciate it.
Hello viewers. I have received and listened to the Atmos disc and decided I will post a comment with my thoughts. ATMOS MIX: The tracks that benefit most from the additional 3D height effects are, unsurprisingly, “One More Red Nightmare” and “Starless” as they have the most to offer in terms of space and overdubs. While the whole listen was enjoyable, I would not say this album takes full advantage of what Atmos offers. I certainly like it more than the 2009 5.1 mix, but unless you are interested in the session and new live material, I do not think this package supersedes the 40th anniversary CD/DVD-A version which is cheaper and still available. 5.1 mix: Basically a down-mixed version of the Atmos. Probably only included for buyers without an Atmos setup. I find it less “girthy” than the 2009 mix, but closer to the original stereo mix in terms of EQ. In all, I still think the 2009 mix is the best version. Session Material: Three More Red Nightmares was interesting but not as interesting as I hoped. The Making of Starless, which I discussed in the video is very worthy of inclusion though. And “Think Again” it turns out appears to be little more than a 2 minute demo of what became “One More Red Nightmare.” Not a buying point. Conclusion: Overall this set, though nicely put together, offers far less value for money than the Larks’ 50th anniversary set as well as both The Road to Red and The Red 40th anniversary edition. It’s worth having if you have an Atmos setup, but I would have preferred a standalone Atmos Blu-Ray disc as the live and session material are not of enough interest to merit the $50+ price tag. Overall rating: 2/5.
Thanks for the review 🎉❤
I think you are the first to show the 50th anniversary edition of Red! Thanks a lot. Keep up your great work!
@@styrmugnsell4560 Thanks for watching! I finally received the missing Atmos disc so I’ll be re-editing this soon with additional details after I listen to it.
starless box . larks box. sailors tale box are AMAZING.... my favorite is HEAVEN AND EARTH BOX SET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@albertosantillanfonseca5776 I must admit I have not purchased Heaven and Earth. I’ve been eyeballing it for awhile but it’s pretty pricey and the ProjeKcts/Double Duo is not my favorite period. If it ever comes way down in price I might go for it. Thanks for Watching!!!
I really appreciate your deep dive. Your analysis has been very helpful as I'm in the process of completing my deluxe editions collection of King Crimson output. I've just purchased The Road To Red and Heaven & Earth boxsets and Exposures as well. I've been eyein Larks' large boxset when I stumbled actoss these 50th anniversary editions. I can't really decide which one to buy first... A real conundrum. I guess I will succumb to the temptations and plank down all the money I have on both. King Crimson is just too good... Keep up good work and greetings from Poland!
@@bogumikitkowski4686 Thank you for watching. My recommendation would be to buy the 50th first only if you have an Atmos setup then maybe throw in the 40th CD/DVD-A just for the video footage. If you don’t have Atmos, then go for the big box set but I wouldn’t pay anything over $100USD for it given the sound quality of the shows. I hope this is helpful!
@brandonware9335 Thanks for the reply. I've just ordered the 50th edition of both Larks and Red for around $40 each in my currency. The big Larks box set is quite expensive anywhere I've looked so maybe I'll wait for the sale. I'm hunting everywhere for a Starless box set but it is currently out of stock. That will be my top priority especially that everyone, you included, praised the sound quality of the live material. Thanks again for your in-depth reviews!
do a review on the other king crimson boxes!!
I plan to do that soon! It's been a long time since I've gone through them all so I'm waiting until I have time to do a KC deep dive and explore all the material again. Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate your insightful review. Keep up good work and greetings from Poland!
