The best blue MTB trail is now open! Riptide at Tarland Trails
This is the new technical blue trail at Tarland Trails in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
It is called Riptide, perhaps because of the multiple successive drops or the fantastically crafted berms that you can absolute rail!
This was my first time riding it and you can tell how much I enjoyed it.
It is a great addition to the rest of the trail centre - make sure to check it out if you're in the area :)

Convertible helmets have been a total gamechanger in the mountain bike world. Not only do you get two helmets in one, but you also have the option to remove the chin bar for climbing, and reinstall it just before you drop into the next trail. The Bell Super Air R and Bell Super DH are convertible full face helmets with removable chinbars. They are both brilliant, versatile helmets, but there ar...

The Tweed Valley is known for its brilliant but also rather challenging enduro trails. As someone who finds steep tracks intimidating, it always takes me a few runs to warm into the Scottish hills. This trail is one of my favourites to start on, its not overly steep but it is very technical - especially when wet, like it was when I filmed this. Let me know in the comments whether you've ridden ...
Chatel Bike Park - Serpentine Blue Trail

Chatel Bike Park is in the French Alps close to the Switzerland border. The trails are harder than those in the surrounding area, in that a blue at Chatel would be a red elsewhere. This is Serpentine, one of Chatel's blue graded trails. Unfortunately we only had a couple runs of it but it was amazing fun - berms the size of walls that just went on and on and on and on and on... @@MudandnomakeupMTB for some reason the gap between the pads and the rotor must be too big if there’s no air in the lines. Normally the fluid builds up in the caliper to keep the pistons out to keep the pad/rotor gap where it needs to be but it must not be doing that. The engagement point definitely shouldn’t change though. Maybe the lever has too much travel and its letting too much fluid come back when you release the lever. I really doubt it’s a temperature thing because on the same ride it’ll happen right? Without being there to diagnosis it’s pretty hard!

    I wanted to add, re the Dharco (everyone in NA says "darko," BTW) Gravity jerseys: they are meant to fit over slim armour, which is why they have a more generous cut. Also, it's "P-O-C" -- "Piece Of Cake."

    I bought my Super DH from lordgun on clearance for $140 and found the Super Air R on eBay and the seller accepted an offer of $100! I always wear full face when going down hill no matter the grade and I will use the DH for more aggressive trails and bike parks. I always remove the chin bar when climbing to get more airflow. Great comparison

    An 2023 Update from me: I no longer need shoes that are high,as I wear Space Brace 2ankle braces now so they provide some added protection too. I've tried 2022 Ride Concepts TNT: Pros: they seem durable. Maxgrip sole is grippy still midsole, D3O pads laces don't tear fit is the same as FiveTen, as comfy, I have 11cm wide foot, used 44 in both, but length wise both are a bit too long, but need the 44 for the width. both fit well with Space Brace 2 ankle braces. So I can use two pairs of wool socks in both. The shoes are great to walk in, as the the ball of the foot section of the sole bends up. Seem to be best suited for spring, autumn, winter when it's not very wet, if you ride trough a deep puddle you will get soaked. But it handles few light splashes. cons: Ride Concepts don't have summer and winter shoes, but instead a allrounder, during the summer they are too warm, but they do nicely in the winter, I rode in temps as low as -10C, I staid warm, but used Mario wool socks, but as they have venting holes, don't have a gaiter they won't do well in wet snow nor very wet, heavy rain, and deep puddle rides. I needed water and windproof shoes with a gaiter, so I got size 44 Northwave Multicross Mid GTX. Pros: gaiter water and winter proof insulated I stay warm even in -5C and fog, -10C, even with wind, I probably could do -15C or -20C, I can fit 2 pairs of wool socks. laces don't tear very stiff sole. Cons: too loose at the heel area without ankle braces, foot slides up and moves around, but width is perfect with 44, other than these issues size 44 compares to RCs and FiveTen. the ball of the foot area is too stiff so hard to walk in. lacks grip despite having tall pins on my Catalyst pedals, if I don't press my foot down on the pedal, like when pedalling, it lacks grips, so when foot just rests on the pedal I can easily move it in all directions, so i notice the shoes losing grip while riding sometimes, but as long as I forece the sole into the pins they grip, but not optimal.

    4:26 Those fit you well, much better than the trousers I have. I have MT500 II waterproof trousers, I use Mens Large, 82 legs length, I am 41cm above knee, 51cm thigh but recently bought Singletrack II trousers too, also in Large, same fit there. They look quite breathable, but too soon to test those, still winter here. For some reason they have a narrower taller pocket in addition so 3 pockets in total, but that one phone is too tall in, but the regular one it is perfectly placed. I am not sure what the pocket is suitable for. I need to use a belt with both, they don't have the front adjustment, and even maxed out straps they are too big in the waist, but if I go down in size the leg length will be too short. In Singletrack II jerseys I am medium, the fit is nice, the sleeves are long, even when doing the light bulb change move, it goes way past my wrist. The jersey has an unusual pattern, they call it a classic grid, it is suposed to help breathability while providing warmth, they claim it should suit spring, autumn and as a mid layer when it's chilly. I only bought one so far, just to try it. The sleeve is longer than Eu M Mavic Crossmax & Crossmax LTD, L GMBN jerseys, GMBN has a sporty fit, their jersey is a bit see trough, thin, light, breathable for sure, So I might order some for the summer. the trousers are quite baggy at the knees. But pockets are normal on those. I have a good belt so it's not a problem, I don't mind. I wear 32'' Poc Shorts, they fit me, just use straps if I need it tighter. Endura's glove sizing seem to be comparable to Leatt, I guess I am size S, i I'm 21cm around the knuckles, wore Medium Poc, I wear S in Leatt, I have Medium Endura which I use in the winter with liner, but it's a size too big, I also have Large, which I use with two liners for foggy -5C or for -10C or colder.

    3:32 I see the saddle area is quite worn, they should have reinforced that area along with ankle crank area. Would be nice if saddle and falling on the butt won't wear out the trousers as fast. The phone thing you mentioned was weird. Maybe factory messed up their orders.

    I've been using the decathlon trousers for a year now, they are still in perfect condition and have lasted well, I find the pocket isn't quite deep enough for a regular sized phone and it digs into your hip when riding and if you stop to take it out its a fight to get back in as the pocket liner get tangled around the phone, otherwise great trousers

    I measurred 58cm for my head and ordered a M helmet. I got it today and I got the feeling it will rip my ears of when I try to pull it on or off. Got the super DH one. Also, when I got it on and open my mouth, my cheeks will be pushed between my teeths, so I think I will bite into my own cheeks badly on a crash event. I already put on the smaller pads that was in the package. Is this normal with full face helmets or should I try size L instead? Thanks for your help!

    • @markiedev
      @markiedev 2 роки тому

      My head is 58-59cm and I ordered a L one and it feels more comfortable, I tried the M size and yeah I had the same issue as you and there are some pressure on your head when you tighten the retention bit. Though wearing it just the half shell looks big and you feel like it moves when you wiggle it but I think it's due to it's spherical MIPs system. Mud and no makeup MTB, I ordered the same colour as yours.

      @WStar4Life 11 місяців тому

      I know it’s an old comment but I’ll give my $0.02. I don’t know if it is the same for bike helmets and motorcycle but I applied the same principals. I am 59cm and stuck with the medium bc the cheek pads should break in after a few rides. With motorcycle helmets you want the cheek pads on a new helmet to push your cheeks a bit and they will break in after several wears. My buddy was wearing a helmet soo big that I was able to rotate it off of his head with a bit of force which was a lot less force than a crash. Biting your cheek will be the least of your worries if you crash at speed

    Hi, thanks for the comparison and the review of both helmets! I wouldn't advise in putting your hair through the hole on the back though. When falling/ crashing the helmet needs to be able to move "freely" and if it gets stuck on your hair I don't really know that will heaped. Nonetheless, great video.
