A couple of laps of the middle Tawe (1.1ish) and a blast down the Mellte (0.75ish) in the afternoon sun. South Wales at it's best!

Very scary situation that could have been avoided. Unfortunately what was thought to be a "crack on" signal was actually just a result of Mikey's paddle hitting the rock he got pinned on. This shows how important it is that you make absolutely sure your buddy in front has paddled the rapid safely before you go. Although rescue was being put in place while the pin happened.
Mellte Love

After a quick warm up on the Middle Tawe we headed over to Pontneddfechan to find the Mellte at a nice level. We had loads of fun and got some cool new footage using a new mount. Music: 50cent (Woody Remix)
Hepste Adventure

With no decent water anywhere in Wales we gambled on the Hepste. Mega scrape but good adventure and good to see all the rapids low before going back when its a bit wetter. Mellte gauge was reading approx. 0.3 this day. Music by Aaron Snapes (Who)

I dont get why the swim failed
Good to see that the man downstreams had a 2nd line ready and used it at the right time.
Sadly lacking in paddling skills for that river. I've seen it too many times.
It would've been so much easier to dump the boat get back in and paddle left instead of swimming left. But maybe he saw the fear?
Maybe he lost his paddle.
The power of water and current is amazing! Pins are scary! That and getting recirculated 😨

Good job guys! Instead of hand gestures (can be hard to see) we use helmet taps.
That's actually a really great idea that I may try to introduce to my local set of paddling buddies next time I see them. First because some situations can limit your line of sight as you mentioned, but it would also be an extremely valuable tool in any sort of rescue/setting safety situation where the roar of the water is too loud to hear anything over. Ive dealt with a few of those high noise situations where simple helmet taps would have solved absolutely every communication problem...
