In comparison to the Prophecy this is a design flop. Genius work!? No matter how much they try to make us believe that it looks good, it is ugly. The ionic5 in comparison looks really nice. Looks like it’s made by another company.
what up with the audio?
@@bjsc1100 how do you mean?
Usb c are under the arm rest
They are mate yes, I forgot to mention that in the clip. Not sure why huhdai couldn’t have usb c port for car play though
Ok it’s not the best sound system in the world but is it one of the better systems? Absolutely.
It’s an OK sound system, the sound stage is great but it just lacks that power, you’re just hoping for it to smack you in the face but it’s more like “meh” 🤣
@@EVJACK haha that’s fair enough but in my experience it’s not found in your regular branded cars. Sounds system in most of my previous cars have been cars and needed some form of upgrade.
Yeah that’s true, you just expect a car valued at £50,000 to have an amazing sound system
The ioniq looks wonderful but that ioniq 5 manñnnnn its a wonderful machine and the one I would buy above any other electric vehicle
both cars are beautifully designed! what makes you set on the 5?
@@EVJACK just more pleasing to the eye I've seen it in person, comes down to just choice and the 5 has the N variant which is spectacular.
Definitely go for the 5n that is a machine!!! Very rapid
Great review! Lease on my Ioniq 5 ends soon (so I know the software). The 6 is on my list love the design but can’t quite afford to go for the ultimate trim so no sunroof or hud which is a shame. Other options I have for the same price (£350) is BYD Seal, Ioniq 5 again (new refresh), Renault scenic, Ford explorer or Polstar 2! So hard to decide!!
The ioniq 5 is a nice car and so is the 6, if you want my honest answer…. I would go for the seal. BYD are doing some fantastic things at the moment and i wish id have gone for that too. Polestar again great car but is it as good as the BYD… tough choice but for me BYD wins again for its tech
Loved the review! How does this compare to the standard Ioniq 6 model? Worth the upgrade?
Yes, definitely, cooled seats, sun roof and HUD for me was a definite upgrade
Loved your honesty in this review. That’s why I keep coming back!
I appreciate that!
The interior is so clean! What’s the infotainment system like? Is it easy to use?
Yes, it is! However, it’s slow and laggy 🙄
Hideous car, but the tech inside is pretty cool! Still, not for me 😂
Tech is ok pretty basic though
I’m planning on buying an EV soon, and this review is really helping me decide. Thanks, Jack!
Glad I could help!
That panoramic roof is everything! Would love to see it in person.
It certainly allows a lot of light in, and then you can keep the sun of your head by using the shade when needed
Fantastic video, as always! What’s the range like for realworld driving?
Thank you! Real work 280-310 is what I have seen
Great review, but man, I just can’t get over the design - Ioniq 5 still looks better to me 路♂️
It’s personal preference, the 5 is certainly a nice looking vehicle
Not gonna lie, Ioniq 6 isn’t for me... Ioniq 5 all the way 😂
Some would agree with you! However, I do prefer a sedan
The drone shots were 🔥, Jack! You’re really stepping up the production quality.
Thanks they certainly add something to the review 🔥
Had mine a month and it's certainly interesting. Love driving it, love that you can swap snow mode for a custom mode which you can make better than sport mode, love the hot seats and lava like steering wheel when it's cold. Love the look. I find the infotainment OK, baggy on start up but otherwise fine, love the door design and ambient lighting. Really enjoy using the paddles to play with regeneration, it's adds a more involved element if you want it. Stereo is meh, the eco processed materials they use are questionable, I have a deep scratch in my dashboard from a light tap of a finger that didn't have long nails. I opened the driver door and noticed a recess with some foam insulation visible, when I touch it it moved back into the wing and released a load of moisture-sure fire rust trap. they're selling so few my dealer doesn't have a single one in and sales are down 60% A 50k car that's 30k after a year is shocking but hey it's an ev. That being said if you were to buy a one year old AWD 6 in Ultimate trim for 30k your gonna be driving with a huge grin wherever you go.
Hi mate thanks for your reply, You're absolutely right about the sound system. It's a total letdown! I can't believe they advertise it as Bose. The infotainment is a nightmare too-slow, unresponsive, and just not what you'd expect from a car like this. It's a shame, because the rest of the car is really nice. I love the LED lighting and the cool door designs. And I know it sounds weird, but I've actually grown to like the window controls in the middle! I've heard sales haven't been great, and I can see why. Would you buy another Ioniq 6, or are you waiting for the new infotainment system they're supposed to release in 2027?
@EVJACK I'm on a three year lease so that would be perfect timing. I chose the 6 for its unique looks and rare road presence but I have to say I love the way it drives. I would have another but the AWD and I'd wait for the refresh. I hope they keep at it because the cars good. On day 2 I got quotes for stereo update, I asked for something just to add more depth. I was quoted 1300 for an amp and sub and 3300 for 6 speakers amp and sub, apparently it's set up to make it very difficult to upgrade without changing everything. Needless to say I didn't bother. Ditch some of the eco crap interior for a quality feel and fix the highlighted areas and I think it's a 9/10 car. Oh and for the love of God will someone tell me how to change from DAB to Bluetooth media. In Bluetooth the menu has a media choice option but not in DAB so you have to use voice control, it's slowly sending me mad🤣
Totally agree with you on the unique look and road presence - it definitely stands out which is why I chose it too. I’ve heard a few people say the AWD version is the way to go, wishing I upgraded to that model now 🤣 That stereo upgrade quote is wild though 😳 It’s a shame they make it so hard to improve the sound system without overhauling everything. I know you can by a DSP amplifier for around £500 which could be a cheaper alternative to getting more control over each speaker. Hopefully Hyundai will address stuff like that in the refresh. As for the DAB to Bluetooth media switch - yeah, I feel your pain! The voice control workaround isn't the best. I’ll try to dig around and see if there’s an easier way, but if anyone else knows a quicker solution, feel free to jump in! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and hopefully they keep improving what’s already a solid car!
@EVJACK thanks mate, I'll look into that amp👍
As an EV driver who so far only charges at home, this is a very handy series of videos. Got the Ioniq 6 RWD Long Range in May, loving it so far, such a nice car to drive.
Thank you for your compliments mate, I’m new to this vlogging this so hopefully I can fill you with some good honest feedback. How are you finding such a beautiful car? Well not discuss the infotainment system though 🤣
This can cannot take 300kw speed. The max speed the Ioniq 6 takes is about 240kw. It's still crazy fast, Enjoy!
oh im sure i read online that The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a maximum AC power output of 233 kW and a maximum DC charging rate of 350 kW :/ but even then its still quick enough :) have you got an ioniq 6?
Nice vid thanks for sharing your experiences! There is lots to learn but also plenty of people around to learn from. We just posted some low frills vids from our trip back from France, like you trying to capture the reality of longer journeys in an EV. We in turn were inspired to do so by the trips made by @mrEV.... ua-cam.com/video/qKmGza0MsNA/v-deo.htmlsi=F6tV_dY_OMouEAku
Won’t subscribe if you write titles like epic disaster because your card didn’t work.😂
Oh don’t do me like that 🤣 it felt like a disaster to me especially pre coffee 😳 please subscribe 🤞🤣
I can see no 'epic charger disaster' in this video. Why the clickbait title? For the record, in 42 months of driving our EV, we've only found one charger which wasn't delivering the expected current to the car. It was running at about 40% of the advertised speed. A quick swap to an adjacent charger, and things were back to normal. Other than that, running an EV has been far less hassle than using a petrol car and having to take up to an hour to obtain a tank full of fuel. There were no shortages or special occasions; it's just normal around this city on busy weekdays. Anyhow, thanks for the video. I wish you many years of happy driving.
Gets the comments 😉 Oh absolutely no issues at all and so much easier having an EV. A lot more fun to drive and just overall easy. What car are you driving?
The charger fail adds so much realism to your adventure. It’s awesome how you turned a tough situation into a great story 😇😇😘😘
That’s just part of driving an EV, ups and downs but more ups so you just enjoy the journey 🤣
Your 1,200-mile journey was full of valuable lessons for anyone looking into EVs. Thanks for sharing such an honest experience
Glad it was helpful!
Had the same car for a week now(grey interior), getting about 250 down to 20%. Always charge at home and do minimum to get home on road trip fast charging. Cost per kw is an absolute joke. Instavolt have a new offer, after 10pm its 56p/kw Love the car and even though it's only RWD it performs really well, good torque and plenty for safe overtaking. Unfortunately the Bose system is an utter disgrace but my quote of 1400-3300 to upgrade it has got me trying to appreciate it a bit more😂
That’s some good range still, what is your average MPKWH? The cheapest I found was Tesla but again limited to where you can charge and the capacity is only 250kwh I thought the exact same thing, it’s still nippy but does sometimes just lacks that umph! Have you made any modifications to yours? Mate don’t! The amount of hate I have for the Bose is crazy, even when tweaking the eq it still sounds meh. Christ! Have you not just thought about swapping the amplifier?
Hi Jack, interesting to see what you are doing, I'd consider any charger 150kW or above to be a good charger to stop at, the Ioniq 6 along with the Kia EV6, the Genesis GV60 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 use the E-GMP and its 800 volt architecture, all benefit from speedy charging however the maximum you will see is up to 233 kW, so even at a 350kW charger you will never alas see a rate of 350. We consider anything over 200 good at a 350 kW charger and tbh 120 to 140 that you can see at a 150 kW charger still does not take too long (its still faster than many pother EVs will do). I am interested in your process of small amounts and regularly, it is what they say is the best (as in quickest) way, although I have tended to plug in and leave whilst I have gone for a bite to eat, a toilet break etc and made it my one stop for the day, at times finding when I return to the car it has fully charged and stopped, rather than 10 minutes here and another 10 minutes there.
Hi Toby, Thanks for your reply and for taking the time to watch my videos, I appreciate your time and comment. I made fewer, shorter stops due to the distance I was driving. This allowed me to stretch my legs without spending too much time charging. While some people prefer longer stops, I'm not entirely sure why. I would have thought longer stops would be beneficial, but as I'm not an EV expert, I'm unsure about the real advantages of each approach. Regarding charging speeds, I'll definitely consider your advice. 150 kW seems like a decent speed. It's disappointing that the price is the same regardless of whether you use a 350 kW or 150 kW charger. Based on your experience, what are the main factors to consider when choosing between shorter, more frequent stops and longer, less frequent stops for EV charging during a long trip?
Hi Jack, for me it would be how long it takes you to get to the charger, particularly if it was 150kW plus. Given the speed these chargers, I think stopping to charge to 80% is generally so quick that it outweighs the time to drive to the charger, plug in and start charging, unplugging and then driving off (I guess it depends how close they are to your route as well). Now if I was getting low on charge (rarely get below 20%) and there was only a say 50kW charger there and I faster one not that far away, I might consider just a very quick top-up, before moving on to a faster charger, however I've not found I've had to do that by planning my route first. I'm not sure there is a best solution, or an answer as to what is the best. For me, I'm often happy for a slightly longer break, less often, as I usually combine with a stop to eat, and as I have back issues, sometimes to recline the seat fully and have a lie down (it is better for my back than getting out and having a walk around to stretch my legs), whereas for others they perhaps prefer shorter stops more frequently. I think it is whatever works for you.
This video is such a great insight into the real-world experience of driving an EV on long trips. Thanks for sharing the lessons learned 😘😘😇
Very welcome, I will always be an advocate for EV's, cost wise and efficiency are always going to win
Your determination and patience through the charger issues are truly admirable. It’s all part of the learning curve with new tech!
You need to be patient with EV's, especially as you mentioned it is new tech. They say, good things come to those who wait lol
I appreciate your honesty in sharing the ups and downs of your EV road trip. This was both educational and entertaining 😍😍🤩
Ups and downs to most things however, with an EV its mainly ups due to the cost :) thanks for watching
Currently, I started following your channel go ahead 😁🤩🤩
Thanks for subscribing :)
Hi mate, many thanks for this. Been considering getting this for the last 2 months in the same spec. After the time you spent with it would you recommend? I do the odd 500 mile trip to London so was worried about range. Just subbed 👍
@@TheMosef123 hi mate glad you found my video useful, I would recommend it yes definitely in the ultimate spec. Bear in mind this is still a new vehicle so there are things good and bad with it like any vehicle. I will be releasing a full review of the bad and good things about this car soon
Thanks for you sharing your experience !! BTW I am curious to know how do you get this screen at 07:33 ? I have the same IONIQ6 but I dont see that interface.
hi mate, you're welcome thanks for taking the time to watch my video too. I think I'm still running and older version which is why mine is different.
How did you charge it for so little? I get mine Monday and the cost I've seen ranges from £20 ish at home and £45 on the road. Also, did you notice the wheel is on the wrong side?
I am a customer of octopus energy so we can charge for 7p pkwh so in total costs around £4 to get a full charge. wheel is on correct side for UK I think my camera has flipped where I'm sitting
I just signed up to a similar deal with Ovo but charging on road trips is literally highway robbery.
@@cyruslad5462 Public chargers are stupidly expensive! unless you become a member of tesla then you can get it at a much cheaper rate
@EVJACK aside from the negative health consequences of sitting in a McDonald's car park after 10pm Instavolt at 56p is the best in my area. Hopefully these prices will come down at some point, the profit margins are insane - even considering installation costs.
Ah yeah maybe dont use the mc Donald's ones at that time lol! think us EV owners maybe gain weight quicker due to eating and charging? 56p isnt too bad, is that on a 150kwh charger? I hope they doo too as itll put a lot of EV owners off especially if they cant charge at home.
V3 Superchargers will only give 100 kW to the Ioniq 6. This is due to the lower voltage provided by the Tesla charger and Huyndai's on board DC to DC converter. Some other 800v architecture cars only get 50kW. Sadly, battery conditioning here will not help. I just drove 1,150 miles over 2 day (Chicago to Orlando) and spent just 86 minutes or charging time. Thanks for the video.
mate thank you so much for that insight, I wondered if it was due to my soc being too high. how did you find the drive?
Very smooth. Shortest stop was 8 minutes. Longest was 24 (90 kW charger).
@@Phil_ferg Its like driving on clouds isn't it? see you cant argue with 8 minutes can you?
My audio setting I fiddles with for almost a year now, I think I found a sweet spot at +3, -3, +7
I also recommend you buy a single for CarPlay called Tbox Ambient 6225, thing is splendid for long trips and overall QOL
Is that with the bose system? ill give your settings a try. where do you have the position?

legend thanks mate ill give them options a go and see how they fair up, this dongle you mentioned does that have an impact on the audio quality?
@@EVJACK with the latest update it really doesn’t, the best dongle for audio is Ownice A5, but they haven’t upgraded the chip on it yet so it’s kinda slow, the one I suggested gets regular updates and is plenty fast for some popcorn time on the fast lane
Im confused why youre sitting in the passenger seat!!
hahah i see what you're saying! in the UK its correct, or maybe my camera has flipped my position
Total cost of charging the battery for the entire journey and compare it with the cost of using a traditional gasoline car. This will help you have a clearer view of the economic benefits of switching to using an electric car.
Thanks mate, I did say I’ll do overall cost at the end of the week so keep an eye out for that one 👍
Let’s just forget the £15K depreciation in the first year.
@@bordersw1239 all vehicles depreciate
@@EVJACK but they don’t all depreciate by around 40% in their first year.
Some EVs depreciate quicker than others
