In terms of property ownership Romania ranks second in the world ,96% of people owning their homes In 2023, 50% percentage of romanian families own at least 1 car ..not that bad ... ! in the cities 60-70% Romanians travell as much as the average european.. Most of eastern european countries ranks in the first 20% countries in the world in terms of property ownership. Countries from western Europe rank below...thanks to center right politics...that make property ownership unaccesible ....to much speculation... that rises the cost of living and drops purchasing power! Swiss ranks allmost the last with only 41% of population owning a property, allmost 60% being renters..because can't afford to buy a property.. How so!?...In Swiss the average wage is round 6500 euro/month..but if you want to buy a modest apartment of an 1 bed and a livingroom in one of the biggest cities in Swiss you have to be ready to pay 1 000 000 euro(1 milion ) but first you have to take a loan from bank...than the bank asks you to have an upfront "advance " 25% of the total amount of 1 000 000..So it seems that majority of middle classs swiss citizens do not have 250 000 euro upfront ..evean they earn 6500 euro monthly in 2024 In Romania an apartment with 1bed and 1 leaving room can worth around 80 00--90 000 euro The average sallary in Swiss is 6 higher then in Romania (1050 euro).. but allso the cost of living is 6 times higher... In anglo saxon countries like USA,UK,Australia,New Zelland only around 65% of total population are owners ,1/3 can't afford it...the average sallary in this countries is 3-4 higher than in Romania but allso cost of living it is at least 3 - times higher(cost of properties,rent,public transportation,taxi fees.utility bills,private schooling.,property taxes .)...there is no wonder that in USA ,the middle class shrinked to 50% of total population!!!.. from 82% in 1980.... The only things that are more affordable in west than in Romania are 2-3 things:food , clothing....some cosmetics In Romania houses are made out of brick and mortar...sturdy houses ..even so people still afford it.
