Is Poland a Democracy?
Переглядів 342Рік тому
It feels so strange to even be asking this question in the first place, and yet more than enough has happened over the past few years to make it ever more relevant, ever more pressing, largely thanks to incredibly effective use of political marketing, storytelling, propaganda and social engineering by Poland's populist ruling party, now mind-bogglingly close to a third term in office. So here i...

Donald Tusk took over the Polish national media by force, using a private military company, without carrying out the proper legislative process. The current CEO's remain in the company's court documents because the court did not agree to include the CEO's illegally indicated by Donald Tusk. Members of Polisch parliament of various Democratic parties are defending the building's and the journalists premises against forced takeover and all the equipment of the Polish Television against theft. They also defend Polish Media journalists persecuted by Donald Tusk's government. former employees of the competitive commercial station "TVN Discovery Warner" helped government forces in the attack and attempt to take over the largest Polish broadcaster by force. Those illegal from the point of view of the legislative and judicial process, as free journalists say: "criminal" actions of Donald Tusk's government are supported by lawyers from the organization "free courts" closely associated with Donald Tusk's party. The main nationwide TVP news broadcasters, including those broadcasting n English language, which are part of the military nationwide system of warning the civilian population against dangers (war, bombings, or nationwide disasters) have been turned off and are no longer broadcasting.
Piękny film.Gratulacje.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I am going to Krakow for the first time on December 26. I only booked 3 nights and I now realise it may not be long enough.
I heard a similar comment the other day in the Old Town area, from a tourist from Hong Kong. “How long are you staying”, I asked him. “Only a couple of days! Not enough, not enough!” He answered, smiling :) If it’s any consolation, I have lived in this city for well over 25 years, and it still very much feels like “Not enough!” ;)
If you make further videos, can I suggest that you pay attention to the audio volume? I had to turn my audio right up from the level that the majority of videos on UA-cam and other platforms output at.

Isn't this just a partisan appeal and whitewash to justify the 'extraordinary' and egergious shut down of TVP? I'm afraid I don't see any explanation of Polish politics here (i wish there was) - just a polite rant against the previous governmment. Why bother, the election is over? You won. What foreign viewers might not understand is that in Poland everything is politicised, all the time. So even as the new government literally just sits down to work, the game is on - musical chairs, rants and rightousness signalling, all the while graft coming out of your ears. Anyway, why didn't the new coalition do the heavy political lifting of creating a new national consensus - or, you know, at least die trying. Public broadcasting would be the best place to start. The answer I guess is the real 'explanation' of Polish politics.
what happening, easy to tell, the bolsevhist Tusktator who lost elections, want to take overr everything by force, as bholsevists always do.
The left will now destroy your country as it has destroyed so many others, all to the cheers of the managerial class who have no country or culture in mind, only their own advancement.
Opinion but not backed up by facts. You are a liberal and do not like populism, but liberalism is extreme at the moment in running two wars, the liberal facade has fallen. PIS is anachronism like Trump, its propaganda is crude, but appeals to the losers of the neo liberal privatisation low wage wage disaster. But Tusk offers nothing new but subservience to Brussels and Washington.
Dear Reader, please make an opinion for yourself about the supposedly "authoritarian" rule of Poland's sovereignists... Here you can watch the allegedly "hateful" broadcast of TVP Info about the agentural nature of the "pro-democratic" opposition (which appears, in fact, to be a hiding of the Soviet-collaborationist secret police). ua-cam.com/video/9Ltxb3yx7Ds/v-deo.html Now they (the "democratic' opposition) got to power and they send police to storm the TVP, Radio, Polish Press Agency - and when the critical broadcast is muted - also Constitutional Tribunal, The Judiciary Council and the National Bank! Unbelievable! These are scenes from a 3rd World country. And of course they have removed this above video from all the servers of the TVP. Freedom of information a la russe! :D That is their (hidden pro-russian agents' network) "DEMOCRACY".
Public broadcaster's criticism of an agentural opposition isn't "hatred" (it is in fact a duty of the public media to honestly inform citizens about who is the one who wants their votes). You have to add that the majority of powerful media in Poland are foreign-owned and have been aggressively opponent to the sovereignist message of the United Right. Now the opposition got to power and it shows its real face. The police's violent storm on the TVP , the Polish Radio and the Polish Press Agency has been only a beginning. They already announce similar storms of the Constitutional Tribunal, the Judiciary Council and the National Bank. It is all UNCONSTITUTIONAL. And it is obviously violent. That is your "DEMOCRACY"!!! That is what we fought against when we (our TVP Info) warned the citizens about who in reality stands behind the "democratic opposition": the former Soviet-collaborationist secret police. Are you happy with your faked "FREEDOM"?
Dear Kacper, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's probably fair to conclude that, in your opinion, the most accurate way to describe the activities of TVP (of the last 8 years) is "honestly informing citizens". If this is, indeed, your position, there's probably nothing I could say that would change your thinking. In the spirit of Christmas, let me give it a try, nevertheless. To start with, I would very much recommend reading about 'cognitive biases' and the theoretical fundamentals of 'effective propaganda'. If it's too much to ask, try asking yourself at least some of these questions: 1. Talking about 'agentural past' (as you put it), do you feel that TVP (under PiS) ever asked any of those 'agentural past' questions to its own representatives? Or is it your position that all of the PiS politicians were the paragons of virtue under PRL (starting from Kaczyński, all the way to Piotrowicz) and all of the (legislative) methods used by PiS (2015-2023) to achieve party goals were ethically/legally sound, and every state-treasury company had ethically-/professionally-appointed boards/CEOs under PiS, etc.? In other words, no nepotism whatsoever and the president was no longer "the notary of his party". 2. Do you feel that in the entire SMOLEŃSK conversation of the past 13 years (as facilitated by PiS) any of the ("uncomfortable") basic facts were ever quoted by (anyone in) the Macierewicz Committee and things were generally handled professionally and fairly with no political objectives behind sustaining the committee (with not one true aviation professional in it) for a decade? 3. Would you honestly describe the daily news journalism of TVP/TVP Info as unbiased, independent, professional and/or mature? Ironically enough, I would never even describe it as patriotic (in any intellectually/ethically mature sense of the word!). The thing about propaganda is that its victims are very much like people addicted to abuse (alcohol/drugs). Their addiction is obvious to everyone around them, but it's rarely (if ever) obvious to them, up until the actual moment of realization, which is when treatment only becomes possible. All the best & Merry Christmas!
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog Dear "PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog", I, too, send you a heartfelt wave of love and understanding (in the spirit of Christmas, of course). >To start with, I would very much recommend reading about 'cognitive biases' and the theoretical fundamentals of 'effective propaganda'. < Thanks for intellectual guidance. I have read quite a lot on this topic. Are you sure you are an expert on that?... (it seems so, as you try to position yourself as one...) >The thing about propaganda is that its victims are very much like people addicted to abuse (alcohol/drugs). Their addiction is obvious to everyone around them, but it's rarely (if ever) obvious to them.< What about narcissism of self-appointed professionals?... 🙂 Isn't it a bit addictive, too? Isn't their addiction obvious to everyone around them (and very rarely to themselves)?... 🙂 Ok, let us leave for a moment the slippery ground of psychiatry. For a reader unacquainted with the political matter we are talking about, I post a material (ENG Subs.) of the incriminated TVP Info. This piece explains immediately why TVP Info was so much hated and was subject to such furious derogatory judgments. It is the famous "Reset" (part 1) about the links of the "democratic" opposition with russia's intelligence services... ua-cam.com/video/9Ltxb3yx7Ds/v-deo.html Do I consider it "honestly informing citizens"? Yes, I do. And if your option has doubts about it, it could create in its media (the "democratic opposition" has a lot of them and very powerful ones, hasn't it?) a debunking polemic. No such a thing has ever occurred. The stereotypical questions from your post (which we hear hundreds of times in this debate) don't change the meaning of this fact.
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog Btw. That's a lovely eristic trick of you: >it's probably fair to conclude that, in your opinion, the most accurate way to describe the activities of TVP (of the last 8 years) is "honestly informing citizens". If this is, indeed, your position, there's probably nothing I could say that would change your thinking. < Which translates: >If you think that XXX is honest, then you deny "obviousness". Anf if you agree that XXX isn't honest, then, well, you are right: it is a bunch of lies.<< This imposed "obviousness" (especially with a moral evaluation) is characteristic for totalitarian speech. It simply leaves no place for its adherents to notice that this rhetorical trick is a logical "vicious circle"! Merry Christmas (imdeed "merry" - your "democratic" newly appointed government is beating people while illegally seizing state media, right now when we are talking...)
@@kacpersokoowski5208 far too serious a topic for tricks or games. Plain, good, old honest intentions, hard as it may be to believe in those these days.
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog Than, please, really follow it. Because, I am afraid, you will soon be ashamed of your great "democratic education". In just a few days those your awaited "pro-democratic forces" have shown more violence and more blatant contempt for law than our "right wing populist authoritarianism" (or whattever you wish to call it) for 8 years! Abolishing laws with ministerial decrees, storming public media buildings with the help of "strong men", beating opposition PMs who tried to stop them. Including a woman, Ms Borowiak (in hospital with a broken arm). Turning off the mobile nets. Doesn't it resemble anything? Yes, it does. It resembles the Martial Law 1981, even to those who fought against that Communist regime in that time! Here is where your conceited "European democratic education" led you: to supporting these violent thugs! And that's not the end of their plans, but the beginning only. They plan similar seizing of Constitutional Tribunal, Judiciary Council, National Bank!!! You have blinded yourself to logic. Any 1st class student of law notices clearly that these actions are completely uncostitutional. There is no doubt about it! But you believe that "restoring democracy" (in your own, only true, understanding) allows such ways. When you will be faced, finally, with what you have done - just like the Nazis have been faced with their acts - you will curse the day when you believed in your own "democratic education" and in your alleged "civilisational superiority" over the "dumb, populist crowd"!
This is a brilliant video! Keep on sharing
Thank you. This was absolutely helpful
Thank you 😊 🙏
As Polish i think that is not democracy since around 2020 We have govermemt television whos hate oposition . Women dont have right to abortion because church want to. I hope so thay poland will be real democracy
As a Pole I will respond. Abortion at will isn't a condition of democracy. Simply - it is not. And criticism of an agentural opposition isn't "hatred" (it is in fact a duty of the public media to honestly inform citizens about who is the one who wants their votes) Now the opposition got to power and shows its real face. Now we have communism party. Oh ye
Very informative and useful information
a polite paraphrase, in Germany one would say that it is historical irony that Poland has developed from a democratic country into a right-wing dictatorship. The parallels between modern-day Poland and Germany in 1933 are disturbing in many ways.
Thanks for the comment, Christian. It's not a dictatorship yet but is indeed becoming dangerously reminiscent of an authoritarian state in some ways. Fortunately, the 1933 Nazi Germany comparison is taking things far too far. I may have a strongly and unambiguously critical opinion of Poland's ruling party in just about every aspect, but they are not capable of murder, let alone mass genocide on racial, 'Lebensraum' or ideological grounds. I've read four different biographies of Hitler (the last one by Volker Ullrich) and a lot more books around WW II. I also happen to know a number of Holocaust survivors in person. Nothing comes even close to what Adolf Hitler and his henchmen "achieved" in the 1930s and 40s. And it's not even a question of numbers but the fact that an ideology this insane and so profoundly unethical was brought to life and 'successfully' ingrained in millions of minds over the years, right in the heart of one of the most civilized and cultured nations in the world. The Treaty of Versailles, poverty and skyrocketing inflation are certainly not enough to explain, let alone justify, what happened back then.
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog I hope you're right and I'm wrong, because controlling the media and aligning the judiciary are 2 of the 4 warning signs of an emerging dictatorship. Only when you have understood that people have slowly developed into this can you really learn from the past, people are not born as convinced National Socialists but have slowly developed into it. "Resist the beginnings" is a quote that precisely describes this dangerous dynamic, because every dangerous ideology started out small.
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog Labelling sovereignist-ruled Poland as "authoritarian" you have been compliant in bringing to Poland the real authoritarianism of "pro-democratic" opposition, which is in fact a hiding of post-communist secret service. That's what we have now. Now you see what they are doing when they got to power. Are you satisfied??? Now you know what our "militant" public TVP Info fought against! It fought for democracy, not for authoritarianism. It was the manner necessary to defend it.
>The parallels between modern-day Poland and Germany in 1933 are disturbing in many ways.< Guy, don't share your guilt with other nations (especially with Poland, whom you massacred, it is utterly shameful). You can be sure Germany in this respect is UNPARALLELED.
I was hoping to see comments on why he read from paper. Maybe it is because he only started writing it a week before the speach and did not know it by heart and wanted to get it right by not leaving out anything he wrote down. Another theory could also be that he may have been a bit intiidated. As with his start, he never finished college, and now he had to address many graduates outside of his normal situation where he sold a product he believed in. With the speach he had to sell himself. But that is just a wild guess. Interesting to see someone else's take on why he read from his notes.
Hi :) Thank you for your insightful comment. Frankly, I don't think he was in any way intimidated, not with his past public-speaking experience, including college students and large, (technical) university audiences (not to mention what he had gone through with his illness). True, he did read quite a lot in this speech, quite likely because he felt his original plan had failed (i.e. to have a recognized scriptwriter write the speech for him) and, being a perfectionist, that may have made him a little insecure. He didn't have enough time to learn it by heart and/or feel confident with its natural (almost conversational) flow. Lastly, I don't think he felt he needed to "sell himself" in any way in front of this (or any other) audience at this point. One of his greatest public skills (of all!) is his instinctive ability to continuously put himself into his audiences' shoes and keep asking himself all the relevant (and demanding!) questions from THAT perspective. As a skill (or an instinct) it's a lot less common than people like to think. I coach quite a number of corporate CEOs on a regular basis and the process often (if not inevitably) starts with making them understand the broader impact of their ego. That in itself is a subject for another video ;)
@@PublicSpeakingBodyLanguageVlog hi. I am trying to learn better script writing and found another video that mentioned Steve Jobs was an excellent storyteller. This was amazingly the first ever speech I saw of him but I had heard that he was a perfectionist and my first though was that he wanted the speech to be perfect. Not knowing much about him it made me wonder why he would want someone else to write the speech for him. I don’t know who wrote the apple presentation speeches but I thought that if he wrote them he would have no problem writing the one for the graduates. Watching the speech it looked to me as if he was a bit nervous. One can be intimidated by others’ accomplishment even if you attained more in other areas and went through more. Actually especially so because you may feel pressured to uphold a certain image. That made me consider the idea that he may have been worried about how he appeared in front of everyone and thus did not want to mess it up by skipping an important line. But again. That is just a wild guess. It may just be that because he was a perfectionist he did not want to walk away from the podium and realize he forgot to say something and then think to himself that he could have done better and his speech was not perfect. It is a good question you asked and I am surprised that no one as yet risked a guess as to why he did it.
