Can you play the black mold again? It was fun!
You've been playing the thunderstorm wrong, by the way. After the thunderstorm, the card is upgraded, which means it goes to discard.
Interesting comparison... I was planning to buy Witchcraft, but I never played Resist... I just backed Onoda... You let me think 😅
Great playthrough. I am expecting this one for Christmas it looks like my kind of game.
Just watched your final thoughts. Sorry didn't watch the 8 hours. But does this have natural stopping points so you can play over multiple sessions? And if so do you think the frustration of RNG would be less in a smaller session?
It would be easy to play multiple sessions and just store this in the box, definitely designed to be played that way. As for RNG - I don't think its quite as bad as I stated here. I had a string of bad luck maybe halfway through which was really unlikely, which was the only time it felt negative. As the deck gets thicker it does feels like you lose a bit of agency, but not so much that it becomes unfun. There's definitely ways to draft around it a bit - but hard to know that in a first play legacy game!
You are nuts! 🤣
This was a lot of fun to play in a single sitting, but definitely made for a long stream.
Great video❤ could you share how so you do to show each cards on the screen? Thank you!
One of the few videos on UA-cam that talks about this under appreciated gem. Also, your video quality is top-notch. Wish you had more game reviews on here.
I genuinely appreciate this comment so much. Wanting to get back into the review game in a big way. :)
That is persistence. All of the girls think that they are final girl, but only the few succeeds in being the final girl ;)
Hey, i just want start stream my own gameplays. What i need if i want show my streams like this your video? You have 4 cameras? I like your style :)
I have a tonnnn of camera gear that I like to mess around with. Way more than is needed, that's for sure! If you are talking about streaming physical games - my suggestion is to start with your phone or a cheap webcam. Hardest part is figuring out a way to mount it, so start there.
Great playthrough. Such a cliffhanger in the end :) it is fun to see you both to play. I think the biggest broken rule is on 1:27:14 when on a specific mythos card you did advance the Cthtulhu track but haven't shaffled mythos cards together (card acts as collecting 3 red signs. Super bad as the first mythos card yet light if there are already 2 red signs out) as well you executed all the advanced elder rules after the mythos phase rather than at the end of turn. It made your game a bit harder, though not that it matters with your live fast die young play ;)
Yeah, I felt a little uncertain about that how to resolve that card - felt prettttty certain I was doing it incorrectly, but wanted to keep the playthrough moving.
Good job guys, I liked the playthrough! Definitely going to try this game!
Thanks!
AFAIK, you can out your dice on Raider's Outpost even if other player's dice are there. You just need to put a bigger sequence. If he had 234 than you can replace with 345 or 456. Here is a quote: "If the Raiders’ Outpost is occupied, you may dock a higher-value sequence here and move the original ships to the Maintenance Bay."
This is my favorite game! I love it!
We are just finishing Oathsworn. We are half way through chapter 20. We play one evening a week. The story for each chapter + the encounter is too long to do both in one night. This has greatly lengthened the time to get where we are. In general, the quality is fairly good. The biggest thing to remember is that if you have a miss on a check or combat, you get all empowerment tokens used back + an extra one of your choice in compensation.
You most likely know by now, but yoi can trade three cowrie shells for clay anytime. It is right on the board. ;) Love this game!
Sometimes I forget!🤣 This is a good reminder that I need to finish up this campaign.. hmmmm
att 44:00 you took 2 cubes of your choosing. im not sure about the rules jet, but as you took a yellow. dosent the tucked card let to take one more of any color?? or does that mean something els.?
ahh spend a yellow as anyother. ok
got my tracking. cant wait to try it out.
you know i sleep in normal hours when i have to watch you later :)
So muuuch fun!!!!! Pssst...I know one of those dining room tables :P
Appreciate you so much. :)
Hey, I know one of those tables, too! :P
how many of those BGG top 100 list games would be in your top 100?
That's a tough one to answer, though we will have some more content on this in the near future...
An excellent playthrough, thank you for sharing!
Thanks! Have a few more Thunderworks Games on the shelf, looking forward to getting them to the table!
Quality family time
Location stream would be cool.
Internet was not up for it :(
You did the Guard dog wrong in round 1. You look at Range 0. There was no one there. Then you look at Range 1, if there is someone there, you resolve that. You only look to earliest in turn order if there are two people in range 1. There was not. Guard dog should have moved and attacked Nobleman.
On Dash you only take damage if enemies in the zone you dash out of NOT into.

Thanks so much! I didn't realize this would be such a barrier until I was in there. First play on stream usually has some rough patches, but this was a surprising one.
@@oppcost Glad to help, checjk your email.
Summer stream best wave!
Pumpkin happens.
It's true
hello! Thx for a stream of this awesome game! Just wait for my copy and hope I will get it soon. Can you tell me please what kind of filter you use for a green screen cam? With that white corners on cards?) Thanks a lot!
I'm going to be making a tutorial about this eventually - but the very short version is I use a backlit screen with a luma key filter and glow filter in OBS
Awesome video😊
Thank you for the video, this has really helped clarify how to play this game. Looks really fun. 😊
Just at the beginning of this video but i wanted to say so far the quality and attention to detail in this video is some of the best I've seen in all these board game playthroughs I've been watching lately, so great job on that!
Thanks so much!
Oh man you forgetting the whale bonus was bugging me you were gonna get an annoyed comment from me until you noticed. Same for that "draw up to 5" thing with regret lmao, regret it's mainly just bad because it's a dead draw on one turn, though it did bite you pretty hard with not being able to play clash
@@hoogomoogo it's wild, because I've played the video game a lot - but I found it much easier to overlook things here. Not rules per se, just options for how to play cards, using potions, etc. The joys of streaming the first play.
Around The 2 hour mark you decided against playing whirlwind because you thought you'd take the damage from guardian multiple times, but the Guardian passive says after playing an attack, not after dealing damage. Ww may have been one of the best possible cards for that turn lol
@@hoogomoogo 😭
hi there - Thank you so much for the coverage and glad you guys found the cards and, congrats on your escape! totally hear you on the rough edges of the rulebook specifically the components list was embarrassing =( Though we have corrected the components list and provided a downloadable replacement sheet with an updated components list. the BGG listing has some other resources related to some rules clarifications. I promise, we did our best to get this rulebook to do the best job it could, had copy editors, read and re-read, and tried to edit a great deal but we definitely learned some lessons on this release. if we ever do a reprint we will fix all this stuff. thanks again for playing!!
So glad you found our video! We first-time games on stream, and rules errors / ambiguities happen a lot. Setting it up and experiencing it on stream can actually be pretty stressful, and I tend to be pretty critical about it at times.. That said, Black mold was a game with a thematic gimmick that totally works and adds to immersion - I LOVE that. It's definitely staying in my collection, but a second edition with a bit of streamlining would be amazing. Some of your other games, Token Terrors and Valka, are on the shelf of opportunity, so we will get to those one of these days...
@@oppcost Love to hear it!! thanks again!! Other than the 50% of the components list that was incorrect - were there any other glaring issues with the rules?
@@terriblegames I sent you a message on BGG - I think - (tokenterrors?) Let's chat there. :)
One of the most unique games out there... Nice review! The expansion is also wonderful 😊
Love everything about it!
One thing you missed is that you can advance the Raiders event by junking or paying for the Raid effect. (I am not even mentioning how many times you forgot to draw cards 😂)
Thanks for the reminder! It's funny how easily things can get missed on stream - somehow it just amplifies it a lot.
Excellent stream! looking forward to Wednesday's two player game.
Can't wait! It'll be the first YT only stream, so we will see how that goes...
I was looking for Bloody Inn for some time and then randomly local stores fill up...probably someone found some in their storage
Highly recommend picking up a copy, since it is unlikely to be printed again anytime soon - I'd look for the expansion too - "The Carnies"
Excellent breakdown. You speak to a lot of qualities of the game that I think are missing in other analysis channels. Your attention to detail doesn’t feel so in-depth that it’s plodding, but it also doesn’t skimp on the important information that make me want to play/own this game. I really look forward to more breakdowns like this!!! ❤
Fantastic video and I love the Bloody Inn!
Was working on this when I saw your stream of it, was happy to see other Bloody Inn enthusiasts!
I enjoyed it!
I really like the way you presented the final opinions here. Greet job!
I've played Illumination 3-4 times. The game is excellent, but I find it very hard to sell to my boardgaming group, due to the artwork specifically. A game about medieval manuscripts with childlike artwork comes out as jarring to them. Those who enjoy history and the Middle Ages were delighted with The Road to Canterbury, but couldn't get into Illumination; they expected a more historical style. And those who would appreciate the artwork weren't interested in the theme. Having listened to Alf's interview, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it looks like deep down the author didn't agree with the publisher's choice. He insists that his prototype (which used historical artwork) was not definitive, which makes me think that he's trying to appease people who complained (I know some did on BGG). Anyway, I know that designing, publishing and selling boardgames is not an easy job, and they know better than anyone what they were going for and whether they succeeded, but I dream of a fusion between Deus lo Vult (perfect artwork, unfinished game) and Illumination (excellent gameplay, discouraging artwork)😅
Incredibly helpful video, thankyou for this, your presentation style is absolutely spot on. Take care.
What a great, concise review and brief play through. Thanks, man.
Sounds like a game to avoid, poorly playtest or developed
I want this game.
It’s easy to see you put some real effort in here. Nice work. I’d play.
Thank you 😊
I’d play that! Video makes you want to see more.
That’s really cool!
