I’ve always thought about this and wondered why most people were indifferent to the loss of South Florida pines. As a kid I was fascinated, growing up in a small neighborhood called Pine Tree Village, surrounded by pines and native plants. I also remember, hurricane Andrew wiping out so many of these towering beauties, and forever changing the landscape outside my home and in many areas of South Miami and Homestead. Now, there are only a handful of pines left, and we should all do our part to replenish them and other Florida native plants instead of covering our past and landscape with “decorative” palm trees and fake grass.

I was born here September 8th 1966 at North Miami General Hospital. I spent my younger years pretty much at 3 or 4 years old going to chokoloskee Everglades City and then down to Flamingo. This is absolutely brilliant and one of the most important things that I can relate to. To go back in my mind and remembering sing the horseshoe crabs alive on the shores of the Ten Thousand Islands. Or driving to Flamingo when I was a little boy and it was a Morrell Road there were no cell phones nothing. You either put your boat in and went to the outside which was Gulf of Mexico. Or you went inside into White Water Bay either way it was magical and mysterious. This is an incredibly fantastic.

The farther are go from Miami the more I appreciate what it is. This video is important.
