I cry not just because of being on the spectrum, but also because of complex PTSD. But the thing about me is I try to mask crying. And when I feel the urge to cry, I automatically replace crying with anger. I don’t think I cry due to being blind, nor do I get angry due to being blind. But I get mad when I’m about to cry, so I have tried to bottle it all up for quite some time now.

Blank stares are also a common form of DISSOCIATION. Not everything is a sign of Autism, good grief 🙄Also, why would an ethical "therapist" want to cut off a disabled persons only source of comfort & self soothing? Is it because it makes other "normal" people uncomfortable? Well that's no longer a sufficient reason.

Dissociation, spider webs, bugs, dirt, intricate ceiling tiles, ceiling fans, sparkly things, posters, art, normal developmental daydreaming, re-imagining what the space could look like, seeking stimulation, seeking no stimulation, babyhood, childhood, teenagerhood, physical exhaustion, mental fatigue, hopelessness, boredom, neck spasms, .. You get the idea. If you're really concerned about this symptom in your child than please seek a nearby professional, don't let UA-cam or TIkTok diagnose your child.

The concept explained about incompatible behaviour needs to reviewed I think, when the child is engaged in self talk if the parents give candy or cookies, it will reinforce the self talk rather than to reduce it. So the self will increase instead of reducing. For example when hand flapping, if the hand is placed in the pant pockets, flapping cannot happen. Incompatible behaviour means when one hebaviour occurs the other behaviour cannot happen.

Hello Mam, my daughter was good on all parameters when she is like 20 months. But after completing 2 years she stop responding to name, did not connect with other kids also she stopped talking those words whic early she did. I am aware she had too much of screen time from her 6 months age to till 2 year completion. Is it classic or virtual autism? Now its almost 1 year we zero her screentime but not seeing much difference

I wish those professional supports had been available when my son was little. He did a lot of head banging; it was disturbing. I didn't realize it wasn't normal. I took him to several different specialists to find out why he was so destructive at times, thinking he was hyperactive. No one was ever able to diagnose his Autism in the 1970s-80s. It was only as ASD became prevalent that I realized we are both on the Spectrum.
