Ryan any issues using your bed extender with that bed cover?
How do you flip open the bed extender
Awesome 😎
Awesome video 🙂💪🏼
can you show a video of you removing it with those clamps and reinstalling? about how long does it take you to take it off? How involved or complicated is it to reinstall?
What bed extender are you using ? Link?
Can you flip ur bed extender without it hitting the cover?
Negative. That's why I don't attach it when it's in the inside of the bed.
How tall are you. Is it easy to access the tool box
I'm 6 feet tall. To access the inside you have to stand on the step.
Between this and the renegade and the roll n lock aluminum a or e series. I think probably this or the renegade would be most difficult to break into vs the roll n lock aluminum. Btw how do you like that bed extender? Is it plastic or metal? Does it bounce around or make noise?
Bed extender is great, it's plastic. No rattle and it doesn't move at all but I also had a bed rug installed in the bed.
@@meltdownblitz Thanks! Did you have to drill anything in your tailgate for it?
@@---tx9xx Just in my truck I drilled the bed extender mounting brackets into truck near the end of the bed.
Still have this cooler? Just picked up a 75 and curious on your 3 year update?
No actually I sold it and bought a couple others. This orca was really nice, just to heavy and bulky for my use.
Thanks for this video. I just bought a diamondback and I thought I’d have to lose my rails
That thing is worth it's weight in gold now with all that's going on ,keeping my tools safe is worth the extra 600 bucks more then one of those crappie 1200 dollar aluminum plated deals .
What size bed for few max?
Crewmax *
Crewmax is 5.5 ft bed I believe.
@@meltdownblitz thanks I’m looking online for cover and 5.7 be too big I guess
@@floridalife7564 I would just look for something that is made for the crewmax
Thanks for the video !!!
Can you take only the front off like you can the rear?
Front of the cover? Yes both panels can come off the same way.
@@meltdownblitz thank you! I only ask so I can still fly my bed mounted flag at times, thank you
My seal ripped on mine i bought it at tractor supply an orca would not do a damm thing about it. Im never buying one again.
Nice video! Do you think I'd be able to use the deck rail Toyota bed divider with the diamondback cover ? I know that because of the center crossmember, I wouldn't be able to slide it up and down the whole bed. BUT, I see that you have a bed extender...I'm assuming for like groceries and stuff. Do you think I would be able to have my Toyota bed divider installed in the rail while having the DB cover as well?
I believe you may be able to. The thing is the cover locks into the rail system so you won't be able to move the bed divider while the cover is down. If the cover is up then you should be able to slide it back but only about halfway since the bed cover attaches in the middle of the bed.
You lost me at kevlar straps.
Is your tool bok the 8 or the 13? It looks like the 13 inch but im ignorant to these types of things
It's the 13 size.
Is that your very first truck? Its a tailgate not a trunk.
Hush. Adults are talking.
@@skyschermerhorn9383 Shut your trunk.
I've been told by someone that owns one of these covers that his leaks. Does yours leak when it rains?
Mine does not leak. Even when I've washed my truck I haven't had a single drop of water get into the bed.
@@meltdownblitz i assume you installed it yourself?
Yes I sure did. It's pretty easy.
Great video! Thanks for doing. Your bed extender is interesting! Can you flip it over with the back panel lifted in normal position? Or do you need to remove it? Or do you need to remove the center panel also? I was not considering the extender, but that would be excellent for fueling 20 l fuel jerry cans if it flipped easily.
You cannot flip the bed extender unless you remove the cover. I just push mine in without being attached, it works the same. If I need it attached on the outside I'm able to do that without removing the cover. However your unable to flip from inside to outside and vice versa.
What bed extender did you buy and from where
Hello ! thanks for review. Can you flip bed extender with cover on ??
No you cannot.
What brand is the carpet kit ?
It's called bedrug
What size tool box did you go with? I am shopping an HD and I see they have two options. Cross bin 13, and a cross bin 8.
I went with the 13. I suggest that one its a good size but depending on your needs you may not want a toolbox taking that much of the height of your bed. Not much you can fit under it if you hall long items often.
@@meltdownblitz That actually sounds like the perfect size! I appreciate it. I figure if I'm planning on hauling anything I'll just remove the cover entirely. Did you buy full retail from the Diamondback website? I am trying to find some kind of deal, but it doesn't seem like they ever have any sales.
@@ShootingSportz I did not. I got a good deal from auto anything. I recommend trying to see what they can do.
@@meltdownblitz Appreciate the heads up, and all of the replies. I'll check them out!
How do you like the crossbin 13? Likes/dislikes?
Nothing that comes to mind. Its large enough, so far also durable. Exactly the setup I was looking for.
are you able to flip your bed extender out with that rear diamondback access panel open?
No it has to stay disconnected pulled out manually then attached if I want to use my bed extender.
Thoughts between the smooth versus diamond finish on the SE?
I'm not sure the smooth wasn't out when I bought mine. If I were to buy again I'd probably go for smooth since its more modern. The diamond is more truck looking IMO
@@meltdownblitz Thanks for the input. You echo my main "pro" for the smooth being that it looks a little less aggressive which probably fits the look of this truck better. I ordered the smooth but when the order came today its the non-smooth. Lol I'm looking for an excuse to keep it an not have to wait for the exchange
Yeti is better that is imitation
It’s not an imitation, the two couldn’t be further apart. Plus orca is made in the USA and Yeti is made in the Philippines. You’re just paying for the name. If anything RTIC is a Yeti knockoff, as it’s not only made in the same factory but they received a cease and desist from Yeti themselves..
Yeti is better that is imitation
Hey thanks for the video. Do you know the measurement of the tallest clearance in the bed? I have a cooler i bring with me camping that needs to fit. It looks like behind the locking bars and first support stud, in the rear of the bed, that the cover is above the bed rails and provides 1-3 inches of additional clearance. Do you know what the total height clearance is?
I just measured it and it's approx 22 1/2 inches from the bed to the lower part of the cover right in the center of the cover. A cooler however may not fit as you can see in the video the locking bars come down at an angle so depending how wide or large the cooler is, it may not fit. Hope that helps.
@@meltdownblitz wow thank you so much for doing that man.
Is the SE version adequate for a rooftop tent? I believe it would be but not sure.
I would say yes but I don't use mine for that so I can't say 100%.
rated for 400 lbs.
I love my diamondback. Are you able to use the tailgate extender easily without taking the rear panel off?
I believe someone has already asked this question I answered it already. Short answer, no.
Try this, "AMP Research 74605-01A BedXTender HD Quick Latch Bracket Kit (for use with Tonneau Covers and Shells)". It can be latched and unlatched in any position.
Lifetime warranty..... but not on the handles. By the way, Canyon Coolers has a lifetime UNLIMITED no-fault warranty that is fully transferable.
Thank you for that, I didn't know that canyon coolers had that type of warranty.
You "made in the USA" people are ungodly tiresome. Can you imagine if we, as a country, bought all our shit from within the US? We would be one of the poorest countries on the planet. It's one thing if you're getting better quality and a good price. But that's not you people's argument. You're arguing that it's good to buy in the USA because it's made in the USA. Any economist will tell you the stupidity of this belief. But, whatever, stay stupid.
Meh. I'm a dick. Seriously though, promoting "made in USA" is misplaced. Check out the evidence for yourself.
Thanks for making the video. Great work. How secure is it? As in if someone tries to break into it. I had my tool box broken into twice now. Once with a crowbar. Looking to buy this one? Some posted a review say5he picked the lock with a paperclip in no time on their website.
Wow that really sucks. I haven't had any issues but if I were to take a guess those would never happen to this cover. I trust this cover to be very very secure. The cover is secured by 2 thick steel bars that lock into the bed frame rails that Toyota has on some trucks from the factory. One of the main things I looked for while purchasing a cover was security and I trust this cover to provide that and have had no issues. I'm not sure about picking the lock.
@@meltdownblitz thank you
My $120 Tyger has become unusable after 3 years. Need to invest in something like this.
You find the SE was adequate? I keep going back and forth between the SE and HD. Also, noticed you got the deeper version of the tool box. Does it obstruct the bed underneath much? I'm going back and forth between the deep 13 inch tool box like you and the 8 inch. Interested in your thoughts now that you've had it for a bit.
Yes the SE is more then adequate for me. My recommendation is if you plan on carrying heavy loads on-top of the cover then I would go with HD, otherwise SE is MORE then enough IMO. I stand on it, lay on it, I put things on top temporarily while I'm moving stuff around in the bed and I put my small dog on it often to keep track of him while I'm doing other things, usually while getting ready to go boating. Honestly the toolbox is the perfect size for me. Obviously depending on what you are going to carry in there. I still have space in mine for a few things and I have everything I may need at anytime for my adventures including boating, off roading, etc. With that said, I highly suggest going with the larger toolbox. I would buy it again. It has not got in the way for me in anyway because I use a bed extender anyway to hold my stuff from sliding under the toolbox. I almost never carry longer objects where it would get in the way. It all comes down to what you intend to use the toolbox and bed of your truck for. The setup fits me perfect and I'd buy both all over again. Hope this helps.
How heavy is the bed cover ?
I've never actually weighed it however per the diamondback website it says max panel weight is 35 lbs.
Thanks for the review. Looking to replace my soft trifold cover with something with more security. Been lucky so far. This would be a good investment since I'm already on my 2nd cover.
Yes I did lots of research prior to purchasing it fit all of my needs and most importantly security. You definitely wouldn't regret your purchase.
Hi Ryan, does your tailgate extended clear the opening of the rear hatch when open or do you have to remove the center section to open the tailgate extender? Thank you
I'm not sure if I'm following you correctly, however I think your asking if I have to remove the cover to use the bed extender. So I would but I don't attach it to the attachment points prior to putting it inside the bed of my truck because it's unable to flip toward the inside of the bed because of the middle of the cover gets in the way. So I just slide the bed extender inside up against the wheel wells and when I need it I slide it outside then attach it to the attachment points for using. Hope that makes sense.
ReisTV thank you Ryan that’s exactly what I was wondering and yes makes sense!
Thanks for the great review. This will probably be the first upgrade I do when we get a truck.
ordered mine a week ago! can t friggin wait! (no, seriously, i can't wait for it to be delivered...)
Good review on the SE model,I would love it on my Tacoma, I have a POS cover by lift a cover that's falling apart and waiting for "funds from Santa" to get a DB.
Thanks, that's a great gift from Santa! You won't regret it!
Does the bed extender clear the cover? I wanted to run that set up but worried id have to unscrew the middle part to use my bed extender.
No it does not clear. So what I do is leave the bed extender detached and slide it in there up against the wheel wells and it won't go anywhere. It will keep your items from sliding toward the front of the bed toward the cab. And when you need to use it as a bed extender you just pull it out and attach it, however you do have to raise the cover in order to get it in at 45 degrees for it to lock.
why are you whispering. trucker whisperer?
Are you able to remove/install the cover yourself?
Yes you are. Each panel detaches individually in 5 secs. Only the center panel is attached to the bed via 2 bolts on both sides for a total of 4 bolts and the cover is off. Can be done in 2 mins with an impact. The harder part is reinstalling. I would suggest marking the bed somehow so you know where the bolts go back when you want to reinstall so that everything lines up just as you first did when you set it up.
The rail that the locking rods go into came with the truck? I mean the rail did not come with the cover, right?
Yes your correct. The rails did not come with the cover, they came with the truck.
@@meltdownblitz you can order with deck rail system or without.
Is it waterproof
Yes it has been 100% waterproof for me. I have yet to have a drop of water in the bed of my truck.
Great review! Very well presented and articulated! What size cover did you get for your Tundra?
Thank you much! I do not believe there was a size. Its a fit according to your truck bed size and model. Your only able to pick the 2 types of covers and colors I believe, SD and HD, black or chrome finish.
@@meltdownblitz How do you do a review on a cover and and you don't know if its an SE or an SD? Any by the way when you have a pick up its a Tailgate not a trunk. Nice cover.
*Love this cooler!!!>>>**nub.best/7137** We also have a pelican and this stands up to it no problem. Love the color and handle is great*
