I hear and empathize with what you are saying about losing yourself being around different people and doing different things, resulting in what you feel is wasting time but don’t be hard on yourself, buddy. Growth is not a continuous state in nature; sometimes we need to lie fallow for a bit. Even the great philosophers took time out for rest and recuperation every so often. We need to do frivolous things sometimes. As the light is meaningless without the dark and the good without the evil, so the serious needs to be balanced with the carefree to ensure that we remain well-rounded people. 🤗💙

I agree with what you say about early rising; I have been completely retired for seven years, yet I still get out of bed at the same time I did when I had to commute to work. You are also right about habits. I have always been a creature of habit; apart from anything else, it frees up your time to deal effectively with whatever unexpected stuff comes your way. Many great men - artists, writers and composers - were creatures of habit and so you are in the best of company with your ideas: indeed, no less a person than Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” And they don’t come much smarter than him!
