X-Touch Mini, Sync Feedback to Inactive Xtouch Layer automatically - Reaper, Realearn
Learn how to always have your xtouch mini in sync with what's in the DAW
Some clarification:
A better name for the SWAP button might be the "SWITCH layers" button. You're setting up a button that when pressed will take you to the OTHER layer - it will make the the currently inactive layer be the active layer. It's similar to just using the built-in A/B buttons to navigate layers, but the new button has the advantage of sending out MIDI messages, which can be used to let the DAW "know" a layer change has occurred.
The inactive layer is never actually getting updated - that's just a limitation of the Xtouch hardware we're trying to get around. What's happening is that whenever we SWITCH to the other layer (using our new button!), the DAW now knows this happened and sends out another round of feedback messages to get what you're looking at (the newly activated layer) back in sync with the DAW's values.
If you have questions feel free to post here and I'll try to answer.

"IN TENTS" - our song recorded in 1988
Переглядів 27210 місяців тому
Well, this will be the very last of the songs I'll be able to get off the tapes we recorded in 1988. It's from the batch of songs that we did in our Nashville basement and included "Don't Stay Out Too Late" and "Schoolboy In Love". This one's called "In Tents", and I wrote it in the winter of late 1987. We recorded it a few months later in the spring of '88.

Breaking the Chains (Dokken) - Performed by Zenith

This was really cool for me as it was my first real stab at being the producer on something from the ground up. One of the first things I did was work really hard on getting a guitar sound I liked on tape - I wanted real mic'd amps and not the simulated stuff for this one. Then the guys put their trust in me to make the decisions - things like deciding if a take was a keeper, or if I felt like ...

This guy won the game! It's over now. Don't go to infinity.
Can you still hit those high notes??! Lol! Great tune.. love the solo!!
hey thanks Keith! No prolly not on a lot of those high notes - maybe some of 'em tho!
I had never heard this, Westal! Awesome!
Aww thank ya Soosie!
Great stuff
thanks Whit!
*Very* Impressive Indeed - There was no way I could have ever beaten this on level 4, so I created an environment using an Arduino Nano and extracted the Simon PIC and let the Arduino Read the lights and play them back in all three game types to get the 'Very Special Victory Salute! '. PS, liked your rock solo too, I also play 🙂
Literally shaking
Geez u a beast
Champion. It was 32, not 31 presses btw
Dittos on all the compliments. This was most excellent.
Hey thanks Tony!! We put some time into it.
Excellent version friends!!! 🤘🏻
Thank you!! That was a really fun song to record.
@@WestalSage We bet 🙂🙌🏻
i play everyday and rush is one of my favorites and one of the hardest for me to play, sounds great great job
Hey thanks so much!!
Wow !! Incredible job. Excellent.
Thanks so much, David!
This was definitely a labor of love. It’s difficult to cover a Rush song and do it justice. We did our best to do it right. Hope everyone likes it.
Love it. This is one of my favorite songs. And you guys did an amazing cover of it !!
Thanks David!
Absolutely lovely. Incredible ! Hats off!!
Thanks my friend!!
Really good stuff, not many people can cover Rush & make it sound good. This is a EXCELLENT cover.
Thanks Larry!!
As I promised 🎉
You're awesome! :)
@@WestalSage you are ! I really like what I am hearing.
OMG...just saw this. TWITCHY!
Man Wes...It's still one of my favorite originals. I still have the Teac cassette of the recording you gave me of this tune.
Ah thanks Guy! That's so cool you still have the cassette after all these years. Hmm I wish I would've done it better than I did here in this vid - that gives me an idea!
I actually had the 12 inch single. Good job!
Thank you!!
You three have mastered your instruments!!!
Well thank you!!
Thank you! Check out our classic Dokken cover as well.
Thanks so much !! I’m the drummer. Lol
O U T S T A N D I N G
Thanks so much, Scott!
Much appreciated Scott!
Awesome cover!! You got Ged’s voice nailed!! Everything is absolutely perfect!! Where did you find an Oberheim? VST plugin or the real deal? Great video compilation too!!
Thanks man!! That's a Roland analog for all the patches on this one. I actually do have an Obie (Matrix 6) - but it crapped out, think it's just a power supply issue tho.
@@WestalSage Analog goodness!! Sounded exactly like the OB-X(?) to me!! All recorded at your place? Had to be an insane amount of work!! Great job!!

Nice work your voice reminds me of a 16 year old Don Dokken & I mean that as a COMPLIMENT ! I hope you take it that way ! Awesome work Tight , Crisp , Clean ! I hope you do other Dokken Songs ?
My band did In My Dreams back in the day. So that could be a cool one. I also really love Unchain the Night, but wow they have a ton of great ones!
This shits better than the original. Lynch should hook yall up with some of those chains he strung his guitar up with
Well thank you! haha we did mention that at some point, like how it might be hard to get his sound without using the cool little chain-strings. :)
Great job guys. You all sound awesome. Love it. Ammity Lancaster
Thanks man! Much appreciated!
Thanks Ammity!
Well done my friend!
thanks Guy!
Kool :)
thanks!
In my dreams,next?
Hey my friend! Well .... maybe!
Nice job, man! This takes me back to 1986 in Nashville.
I don’t understand how does this method of doubling the root estimate and then finding the largest multiple you can make before going over give you more digits of the root?
So is there any specific reason you stopped at 22 digits or could you theoretically continue this algorithm further?
The limit here is that you only have 11 digits that you can use in the setting register. On a Curta 1 they only have space for 8 digits so you could only find out 16 digits by doing this. After multiplying by your known digits then doubling that value and using this method you almost always double the number of known digits. So he could start with 2 known (rough estimate) do this then figure out an answer to 4 digits, use that new value and this method to find out 8, repeat as necessary. If there was a Curta that had 12 setting digits you could find the answer to 24 significant digits no problem. You could also use the now known 22 digits to go as far as calculating to 44 digits by hand if you really wanted to.
A message to "A C" - hey I got your comment and was able to access your awesome documentation! Really great stuff! Wanted to chat with you, but now the comment is gone and I can't for the life of me figure out how to reach ya. Help! :)
Hello Wes, for some reason UA-cam deleted my original comment (because it included a link to a document, perhaps?). I’m glad you got to see the sheet, I had lots of fun writing it. Yeah, let’s chat!
I’m learning to do this on an Odhner. 🖖
this helped me learn it, really cool!!
Hey great to hear, and thanks!
Really good,Wes. Impressive. Hope you are well.
In Brazil it was released by Estrela under the name of Genius the normal version, Super Genius the bigger and Mini Genius the one you use (Pocket Simon).
Hey that's cool info I didn't know - thanks!
Beautiful little algorithm
Thanks!
That's friggin amazing!!
At :17, the camera wasn't sensitive enough to show how *dim* each stair can be. It is this dimming ability that allows for some smooth fade-ins, fade-outs, etc.
It looks way cooler in person (doesn't everything?). I'm pretty sure you could see this thing from space - it will burn your retina! lol
