I quite like the ones you made. I’m currently using a Bellroy notebook cover in their “Everglade” color. It’s a gray color with a very subtle bluish/green going on. Really enjoyed the video!

I have a green leather notebook that has the same type of patina! Turned out, it’s because it sat on my desk and the front side got a bit of a sun tan from my window.

They used to make this in a 2 card slot version that was very popular. Wish they still did

Oh my gosh. Life isn’t always pretty. Why should our journals have to be? I keep a couple of planners/trackers for different things, and one book where I actually write about the day. Trust me, my most functional ones are NOT pretty. I’m busy LIVING my life, not making pretty pages.

It's not "ugly", it's quirky and has character! Lol. But honestly, if it works as intended, who cares what it looks like. Don't be discouraged by all the artistic journals people post on the Grams or Toks or whatevers for validation and vanity.

Your notebook is not ugly, it is functional and practical and it does a great job. i would rather watch a video on how your notebook works rather than all the decorated ones put together. Plus it looks used and the drawings from the children are brilliant.

I wanted a Sidekick when they came out with it in 2017. I bought a smaller one in a different brand instead. I vowed if they came out with it again, I would buy one. So, I bought the bird print leather. I agree with some of the same things you say. The leather seems fragile. I would not put my phone in the front pocket for that reason. I don’t care for the pen loop for the same reason as you. I may remove it. It may be my imagination, but I feel like it is about an inch taller and somewhat wider than the original. I bought a B6 slim off- brand notebook for it and it fits fine (except for the awkward pen loop). I just feel it is more bulky than the original and just not as convenient to carry. Thanks for your validating video. It’s pretty and I’ll just use it as a TN. 😊

Epic fail-if you don’t use washi tape and write the date in calligraphy, your notebook is useless 😁 😂

Mine are very basic. Once I quit trying to make them look like the ones artsy people do, I started to enjoy the process of finding what really works for me. I envy those people who have the patience to do the fancy layouts. I am not patient and even my stickmen get laughed at. So mine resemble yours.

I became obsessed with Field Notes this year and have stacks of them! I've been using A5 Planners/Notebooks for more than 30 years, but I am wanting to down-size now that my life is simpler (Empty Nester, getting ready to retire.) I also purchased a bunch of leather covers (mostly from re-sellers) because I love changing out covers for the seasons! I just adore the way real leather covers look and change with use! Thanks for sharing!

As much as I enjoy seeing other people's lovely, decorated spreads, I feel no need to copy them! I am very much a functional planner and while I like my planner to be "tidy," I also want it to be useful! I think the most charming flips I have seen are the ones where the user checks things off, scratches things out, and uses all kinds of different pens and changes their set-up mid-stream. Their Planners/Notebooks feel "lived in," and use of their own handwriting (not stickers or decorative lettering) makes them feel so much more personal!

You can use a Midori B6 slim notebook. Those fit as well

I think that looseness is intended for you to be able to align the nib with the clip when the cap's posted. In your case there isn't a clip, so that issue is moot. Anyway, just hold the nib in one hand, the black collar in the other, and tighten.

That is by design. That holds the nib unit. Just screw it in tighter.

I use those planners. They fit perfectly in a passport size TN cover.

Love the colour/features on that but also the pen screwing up and compressing in size is awesome.
