i admire how hard they tried, their vision, and it does look really cool outside of the actual film!

I loved this movie. It was so introspective it could’ve been a dream in hyper sleep. I do prefer the assembly cut, but also prefer the theatrical ending of ripley dying with the chest burster.

Just watch the Blu-Ray version, it provided the full story of Alien 3's development. Like, all of it, this was under Wreckage and Rage before Fox interfered with the Making Of documentury for this box set. The Blu-Ray version is superior in every way

Reason man in a suit would have been better is because they can act according to other actors. The running scenes could have been acted as people can run in all 4s with or without some cable help very easily. Dont get me wrong puppet looks beatiful but in a movie it looks off. Jurassic park mixed puppet and cgi to make it a little better but still the animatronics carry the scenes

Actually for those who have worked behind the scenes would understand no matter how artificial it looked, they were doing their best in those days

Lets face it. Cgi was really bad. Alien looked far worse than in prior movies. Running on ceiling or not...

I personally think Alien 3 is very underrated. The only real thing that ruins it for me on a visual stance is the post editing of the CGI alien into certain scenes...it just looks so bad and it's a shame as the practical suit is great! The outdoor shota of the Suloco pod being craned is also poorly composited into the movie. Maybe one day someone will fix these issues and make the ultimate assembly cut with fixed CGI compositing. Love the soundtrack too and David Fincher is great director too and should be proud of this movie.

Great idea but unfortunately it dosnt look good. The shots in the movie with the practical alien full size looks is much better then the puppet alien.

I wonder where that little puppet Alien is now? Looks fantastic. Loved the film though, this just makes me love it more. I bet this film would have been better received if it had of been made 10 years later

4:19 Commentary about building specialist rigs & dollies with gimbal tracking & 100’s of thousands of $$$ in production fast forwards to 2024 & what have you got ? DJI Ronin 4D with a Tilta Hydra / Float Arm & DJI Master wheels. A complete operation for a 1/3 of the cost & man power & YET Hollywood still prefers to go the way of the old & not recognize GREAT tech that can save a production 100’s if not millions.

I wish that they Made movies using thus technique More ofter, it's a very unique style and with the Modern CGi techniques the could integraté the puppets flawlessly, just think about the possibilities

As many times as I’ve seen this movie, I never realized that those were people on the EEV, as the crane moves it! I thought it debris. Wow that was awesome.

So the EEV was just a lump of metal that has no thrusters or control? All it can do is hit the surface of the nearest planet at FULL speed ... probably killing everybody inside! What a truly terrible "EMERGENCY ESCAPE" system ...

They should have used puppet when filming. The effects looks totally fake in film. That's why the first alien still looks great.

Alien 3 is a masterpiece, great as the first one and definitely better than Aliens.

My second favorite Alien movie.

I REALLY wish we could get a corrected FX version of the Assembly cut...even if it means some CGI work. The poor compositing creature effects were probably the biggest let down for me coming from the previous 2 films. (No...the story turn and darker tone didnt bother me in the least)

Incredible detail goes into the matte painting. Too bad it's hard to see all the detail because it's only seen for a few seconds.

Ive always liked the way this xeno moved. The corridor chase is fun to watch. I wish they could update some of the special effects. Like the xeno on the ceiling.

I think Alien 3 is an amazing film and so beautifully done. Sure, some wonky old FX, but visually and storywise, its terrific. Do npt understand the hate. That it is so good even with all the production hell it endured speaks volumes.

The motion of the xenomorph looks really choppy, stilted and the effects of the creature do not blend in with the environment. So bad.

The perfect version they could make & redo of this film is in 4K CGI for the Alien running scenes & add it into the Assembly Cut Version but with the Theatrical version ending!!!!! & Change the damn Ox to a fuckin Cougar because that's what it's supposed to be anyways!!!!! Idk why they didn't just use a live pet Cougar originally for this film if that's what the Xenomorph concept for this film is originally based on??? I don't see a Ox or even a dog stalking it's victims & then chasing them when they run away & eating them like the Alien actually does in this film!!!!! That's also what a cougar does in real life , it stalks it's prey & if you turn your back on it & run , it's chases & pounces on u!!!!!!

They all complement eachother perfectly & it's always been my favorite movie Trilogy!!!!! IDC what anyone says or dislikes about this film!!!!!! Honestly this film turned out way better than all these ppl in this documentary that are complaining about it & they're the ones who made the damn film!!!! Give yourselves some damn credit because you still made a classic regardless if the first two films were better , u still made a very good film in such a short period of time & I think if they gave them more time , it would have actually turned out even worse !!!! Rushed movies always turn out good for the most part!!!! Aliens was a rushed film , T2 was a rushed film & those are considered some of the best sequels of all time & plus you made this movie without a script while in production which is pretty much how the original Alien film was made considering they had to keep rewriting it during production just like in this film!!!! This is actually my favorite David Fincher movie & he still denies even being a part of it lolz !!!!! The other concepts & ideas they had in mind to write this film were just rediculous !!!! I can't believe they originally wanted to make a wooden planet in outerspace full of monks , that's just stupid & so unrealistic & it's a far worse idea than just making a rehash of the first two films in my eyes , thank God it costed far too much money & time consuming to build a set like that!!!!! I fuckin love this film , Alien 3 is the most underrated third instalment in a film franchise ever!!!!! It's also the film that I actually enjoy watching the most out of the entire trilogy & I've been watching this trilogy since I was a kid in the early 90's!!!!! I love how dark this movie turned out compared to the others!!!! It didn't deserve a happy beginning or a happy ending!!!! After all the Xenomorph is supposed to be the most terrifying thing in the entire universe & the perfect killing machine so it only made sense to make it begin & end dark & depressing & it made it unique compared to the first two films that do the complete opposite with the happy endings!!!!!!! This movie also has some of the best ever shots of the Xenomorph , the best most unique kill scenes , the most blood & gore of all the films in the entire franchise & the most graphic realistic in the entire franchise!!!!!

I think the Alien puppet idea was a good idea as apposed to some dude in a suit. Alien 3 isn't the best Alien film in the franchise and personally I think Alien is still the best one followed by Aliens but Alien 3 isn't the worst. I think Alien: Resurrection was worser than Alien 3 so compared to Resurrection I think Alien 3 is a classic.

It so awsome that the way the puppet moved it so annoying that when they edit into the movie it looked off I always thought it was bad cgi but it wasn’t it shame I really enjoyed alien 3 but it get a lot of hate alien and aliens are the best but alien 3 directors cut is great, alien resurrection is crap I don’t consider it to be a canon alien movie lol
