Sydney's Desert Garden
United States
Приєднався 28 лют 2024
Hi! :) My name is Sydney and I garden on an urban/residential lot in the beautiful Sonoran Desert of Arizona USDA zone 9. Gardening in this unique climate can take some creative thinking, but we can grow year round and sunny days are abundant. I would love for you to join me in my garden!
It's Time to Sow Your Seeds! | What I Am Planting for Fall
Growing a true fall garden can be challenging here in the Sonoran Desert. The magic window between the intense heat and diminishing daylight hours is short, but you can still grow a garden!
Join me today as I sow some seeds to hopefully get me a successful fall/winter garden!

Just so u kno.. i wanted to watch this as a family and samantha said no
Wowwwww! It really be your own family sometimes smh.
Where did you get these seeds? I must have some!
I'll seed save some and send in the mail for sure!
That’s the come rub my belly variety lol
Haha come to think of it, you must be right! 😂
Hello
It's a Solanum nigrum. They are related to tomatoes...called Devil's Little Tomatoes translation or Black Nightshade. Berries are edible and sweet. The bush is made into a soup (before the berries ripen usually) in Central America. Commonly known as yerba mora or hierba mora. Recipe: ua-cam.com/video/LvM8_7Os57g/v-deo.htmlsi=ONVS7z7JAx2B5btB ua-cam.com/video/LvM8_7Os57g/v-deo.htmlsi=ONVS7z7JAx2B5btB
Thank you so much!!! Wow I did taste the fruit and it was sweet! I was worried about eating them without knowing exactly what they were so this comment is so helpful. Must have had a random seed mix up in one of my packets I definitely didn’t order anything like that 😂 very cool though I’ll have to save some seeds.
It's a freebie, I guess. 🤗
Beautiful Garden 😊
Thanks!! 😊
You work really hard. It's a pleasure to connect with you 🙏❤
Thanks for watching 😊🌱
Khu vườn rất đẹp 🎉
Thank you 😊
I just found this plant in my apple farm opened Google lens and it took me to this video love the content btw keep it up ❤
Oh awesome! What did it say it was lol? Glad to hear you enjoyed thanks for stopping by 😊🌱
@@SydneysDesertGarden well I am still confused because I didn't get any info about it
@@songsstatus911 Well darn, hopefully we found out soon 🤣
@@SydneysDesertGarden yeah 🤣 best of luck 🤞
Chiltepin
You think so?! I didn’t start any of those for me but I might have for you guys 😂
Thanks for the video. Planning to do the same. Can you list the items purchased?
Sure! 😊 I used 3/4 conduit and it comes in 10ft length www.lowes.com/pd/Common-3-4-in-Actual-75-In-Metallic-Emt-10-ft-Conduit/3129553 4ft rebar for extra reinforcements www.lowes.com/pd/Common-0-5-in-x-4-ft-Actual-0-5-in-x-47-ft-Steel-Rebar/50416338 And I got the attachments from maker pipe makerpipe.com/collections/modular-pipe-fittings -one hole straps ( I did two per leg so 4 packs of 4 for my 8 legs) -end caps for the 8 legs -I needed 4, 4 WAY STRUCTURAL PIPE CONNECTORS for my design. -4 90 DEGREE STRUCTURAL PIPE CONNECTORS I am also testing using 1/2 conduit for the top and keeping the legs 3/4 inch conduit. It saves money and it’s easier to lift since they are so much lighter, but some of the reviews on maker pipe say the 1/2 in connectors slide off. That’s why I opted to leave the legs 3/4 inch figuring if it’s true, the legs would be the ones working against gravity. So far so good and a couple monsoons storms in!
Oh! You’ll also need a copper cutter. www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-1-8-in-to-1-1-8-in-OD-Copper-Tube-Cutter/1002633280
i live in a desert environment too so seeing this video helped me out..as im going to get flower seeds to throw into a meadow we have been cultivating for the last year or so...the only drawback is, i will first look up to make sure deer arent attracted to them or the deer will destroy everything....our pests are deer, mice, kangaroo rats, rock chucks, bobcats and every so often a mountain lion...also can you tell me something about your metal raised beds...those look like sizes i can deal with ...any idea where you got them or how you put those together? Thanks!!!! ( i just came upon your site so now im a subscriber...we have very similar home environments ..mine tho...is in the high desert of central oregon...
My goodness thats quite the list of challenges! I am not sure about the deer resistance, I am very lucky to not have them in my garden. We have them here and many of those other animals, but not down in the city. I hope they leave your garden alone as much as possible dang! 😂 Yes! They are the Birdies raised beds from epic gardening! Super easy to put together no tools required comes with the hardware and the little Allen key. I really like them! They will probably have a sale for Black Friday if you can wait! shop.epicgardening.com/collections/birdies-original
Ooh also thanks so much for subscribing! Happy gardening 💚
Your garden would benefit with a tree 🌳 fruit or flowering to help balance the heat 😊👍
Thank you!! If I could go back in time I would totally rework my area. She’s a little too full now to add trees in the vegetable garden area. Interesting concept🌱 I do have huge native mesquite and a few other container trees in the back! This comment made me realize I totally skipped over them in my tour 😂
wow your video is fantastic! now i know what i need to get and what to do~ thanks!!!!!
Wow I am so happy to hear this! That was precisely my goal 😊 happy gardening!
Butternut squash actually has a lot of good health benefits. ❤
Ooh nice I didn’t know that thank you!
