Star Wars TCG - Revenge of the Sith 2 Player Starter - Deck Opening
Really gives me nostalgia for what MTG used to look like.
Nice!
IMO this was the most fun TCG out there. 100% would have never stopped playing if it wasnt for what happened. I was one of the brainwashed ones who kept pre ordering and going to Towers to play. The community was amazing, made some great friends and had a great time.
Very cool
lol nice
Super cool and unique channel! Love it!!
first comment
This game is olllllld😮its the first crypid type game
Fantastic production quality! This was a great resource for me as someone who has just heard of this game but was intimidated by the large rulebook
Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope it helps!
Thanks for the video, a really detailed and complete guide to the rules. I personally don't mind reading a rulebook, but I can imagine this perfect for people that learn better by watching a video. One small thing: The music is beautiful and on theme, but I would have preferred a less constant drone of the music. Having it at the start and at the end for example, would leave more room to listen to the explanations a little better, but maybe that is just me.
Yeah the music was a little problematic on this video but I’ve tried to make it easier on my later ones
@@discard-dead Alright, thanks for thinking ahead on this one! Looking forward to more videos from you.
This is one of my all-time favorite card games. I was so bummed they let it fail. The cards are incredible. I also play Age of Sigmar. I play most armies, but Skaven and Gloomspite Gitz are my main armies.
I’m a big big fan of Gitz, had a massive army of night goblins including a whole bunch of conversions too
Thanks for the tutorial. You deserve more views for all this effort!
Thank you, I appreciate it 😁
Very good and easy to understand tutorial. We have a small community for Bleach in my country. This video will for sure help gather interest for this great game!
Oh that sounds great! I hope it helps 😁
Ah, yes. The game that not only tried to rip-off MTG, but also forgot to put instructions on how to play in the first run of the game.
Having seen them in person, I just wanna say that your camera didn't do them justice!!!!
Nice videooo!!
Can I play JYHAD and V:TES cards together I have two JYHAD the eternal struggle starter decks and one V:TES anthology I pack and was looking to play with some friends for the first time. Which should I buy more packs of?
I would probably go for the V:tES editions if you can; they sorta streamlined the cards aesthetically in some ways and made the text a little clearer to read. But you can mix Jyhad and VtES cards if you want, as they still do the same thing.
They were painted really nice mate, good on ya
What an amazing opening! Some GREAT pulls!
love your animation
Great guide! Very clear and easy to understand. Slight correction on the sample combat you shared on 30:38. Kathy does not go to torpor for taking 2 damage at 2 blood. She only gets wounded if she takes another point of damage. Combat should have ended with Kathy tapped in the ready region with zero blood (and must hunt in the next minion phase).
Fantastic game. I really enjoy the fast paced flow it has, and the energy system is honestly the most interesting resource system in any game I’ve played. Cool video man. Keep up the good work!
Great content 😀
Super helpful video! I just picked up the starter decks and this video has done a great job covering the fundamentals in a simple way. Nice visuals and animations, too. Well done!
Oh thanks so much! I’m glad it helps!
We're 4 new players who will play this year's Halloween. This will be very helpful, thank you.
Oh that sounds amazing! Please let me know how you go!
@@discard-dead Haha, I will if I remember to!
@@discard-dead Oh, I should probably ask you: I am planning on getting the fifth edition box from 🐈⬛ Black Chantry. Do you recommend I get the New Blood decks to start with? The New Blood decks don't seem to differ all that much from the ones included in the fifth edition box, it seems.
@@lystic9392 yeah I would get them; they look great anyway
@@discard-dead We actually played our first game today, because we couldn't wait 'till Halloween. And it was a lot of fun! We played using the New Blood decks (4 players). (I played Tremere.) And I didn't really have any rules questions while playing the game. (I did watch your video, and I read the rule book and a quick guide with some examples of actions and combat.) It was a lot of fun but of course we didn't really know our decks or what we were doing strategy wise :p
Appreciate you making this. Friends wanted to play today and it served as an easy primer for me. I’ll let you know how well prepared I was after our session.
Hey I’m really glad it helped! If it helps at least one person then it’s worth it 😁
How well prepared were you?
😮I’m a new sub 🎉
Hey thanks a lot and welcome to the channel 😁
Love the entry and love the exit even more! well done!
i used to play this when it came out when i was young. my whole squad got obsessed with it. we dropped all other card games, and pursued this game instead. its a shame it didnt last because this game was some of the most fun ive had playing cards as a wee lad. tho now im into metazoo, and played at the water tower yesterday, id have to say that beats any small tourney i did for yu yu.
Annoying music that overpowers the dialogue. Unwatchable.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve made the music less prominent in subsequent videos for this reason. Have a great day!
need a follow up on how to play the king sets
I’ll look into that, thanks
Great update Gus! Kerren
Thanks for this. Can you tell me where in the rulebook it says that the play order moves to the player on your left? I've been assuming that, but I can't actually find it anywhere.
When you look at the turn sequence it states that play order is clockwise. It’s on page 4 of the V:tES 5th edition book or page 19 of the original Jyhad booklet, under ‘12. What you can do on your turn.’
@@discard-dead Much appreciated!
Does this game have any lore to it? I’m intrigued by the idea of the gates and whatnot but I’ve found nothing online.
In all honesty I don’t think there is any real history attached to the game, aside from what similarities you can derive from the lore of maybe Conan the Barbarian, which is set in the Hyborian Era, which is sorta between the stone and bronze ages. There’s a bit that you can check out from a link I just put in the description
Super clean video! Really liked the animations and everything. I see the images are from my Database and man do they look clean, hahaha. Great video tho man :)
Thanks very much, I appreciate it!
That box must have been too much money. 😭
Haha not really 😂
There were actually 6 sets, not 5 :) Also, your Welcome Pack was actually an error pack as you figured out! A shame you opened it :( I actually also have an error pack that has 2 Fervor of Fury and no Desperate Temper. Very interesting that this one also lacked a Desperate Temper!
Oh really? I must have missed one, thank you so much! Your welcome pack was an error too? I wonder if there’s something else to that… maybe there was a printing batch that was just a bit off
@@discard-dead No problem man! If you look up Yu Yu Hakusho TCG Database in the major search engine (for some reason, I think UA-cam automatically removes comments when I mention it by name), you'll find a site with an absolute ton of information about the TCG. Yep! I was doing the "peek" strategy before opening them because I was trying to find one with an Epic Tales in it and found one that had 2 Fervor of Fury in it instead of Desperate Temper. Peeking involves sliding the cards around inside the package so that you can see the top of each card while keeping the card in front of it pushed to the bottom of the pack (since the packs were so big compared to the cards themselves). With Score Entertainment, you never really know what you're going to get. Since the uncut sheet for that mini pack is unknown, it's not clear how the cards were handled on it. If I had to guess, it was likely each of the cards owning all 11 slots in a row, which is why sometimes a double slips in...but who knows.
Cracking video! Keep them coming.
Thanks man. They take a little while to do but they are fun!
Thank you for explaining this game! My issue with V:tes is that it was never streamlined or modernized. It's still stuck in a 90s era rule glout, which had it's charm, but as well it's drawback. A new design, action window, template, and rulebook could make the game even better. I definitely see alot of potential in here, from Diplomacy even to Cosmic Encounter as a contender.
Thanks! I agree in part in regards to the convolution of the rule set, but as is the case with a lot of 90’s era tcgs, the design of its mechanics make it tricky to sorta streamline without… damaging the original feel of the game, I feel.
Rivals attempted to do this. But I hear the main complaint about that game is its rules and exceptions to rules XD
Could you please lower the music . It's hard to understand the narration. Otherwise you did a great job of explaining the game.
Hey thanks for the feedback I’ll keep it in mind for future videos
Not to harp on about it, but I would prefer a lower volume music too, or no music during most of the rules explaining. It is fitting and great, just a bit distracting.
Can you cover missed blocks? From my understanding, let's say a vampire attempts a bleed. The defender attempts the block, the bleeding vampire gets +1 stealth. The opposing player cannot match the intercept, so the vampire gets through. However, from my understanding, another block attempt can be made by a separate vampire. My question is, does the stealth from the first block attempt stay on the bleeding vampire or do you have to "start over?" Meaning stealth/ intercept are both set to zero and the stealth/ intercept back and forth happens again? Or am I totally misreading and misunderstanding that separate block attempts can be made against a single acting vampire?
Hey thanks for asking. My understanding is that the Stealth modifiers are modifying the action, not the vampire and so remain until either the action is resolved or the minion is blocked. So if a previous attempt to block fails and another minion tries to block, the stealth modifiers remain in place. Hope it helps 🧛♂
@@discard-dead that was my understanding too, a few of the people I've played with in the past explained it as the vampires start over. I was like what's the point in playing stealth cards since you can just fail on purpose then attempt another block immediately and have my stealth back at zero? I read it as you explained, it makes me feel better knowing I understood it correctly.
Then again, my understanding could be at fault too haha, but yeah, it seems to totally defeat the purpose otherwise
The clear plastic card looks RADDD!!!!!
So cute!!!!! Thanks for uploading this video!!!!!!!!😀😀
Naruto!!!!!!!
This game isn't dead it is still in print by Black Chantry.
True enough in a sense, though it is being printed as sets. The ‘classical’ trading card aspect - randomised boosters - however is not part of their model as they have taken a ‘living card game’ approach. The ‘dead’ part is only because it it no longer being printed by the original and successor companies who produced and marketed it as a TCG.
@@discard-dead BC is the original successor. They are a group of people who were originally in various development and organizational roles in the game. It is still backed fully by the owner of the IP, Paradox Studios.
@@heysteev oh cool, thanks man, I didn’t realise that.
I took a look at their site and the (so far) printings of cards they offer. As someone that owned a batch of early (Jyhad) cards, very little or none of it felt familiar. A great initiative though, to keep alive or revitalize a game that has no active printing before this anymore. I wonder if the same will happen to other discontinued card games.
Amazing!
Yeah i agree
Thank you for making this! Hard to believe the game has been played since before UA-cam existed, but there was no video explaining how to play until now!
Thanks so much! Plenty of discussions and plays and deck techs but I saw a void and tried to fill it it just a bit
And so many unboxings!
I just bought a bunch of On The Edge last week. It's nice to see someone still talking about this game.
Hey that’s awesome! I’d love to get a couple of burger boxes; they look like a great product and something you don’t really see in tcgs much at all
Atlas Games still has the Burger box for $25. I bought 5 just because. It was a great concept to throw in a little bit of everything. I purchased a bunch to get a single card. Resounding Bell. It was in the 3rd printing of the game, The Standard Set. I moved to a small town and I'm trying to get some people into the game at a local game room.
First.
Nice
