Was there in February 2024 and there’s definitely improved roads down to the marina and a new picnic/rec building there too. The narrow pull-thrus are still there though and the older section roadways continue to decline and become less desirable. I’m not a big fan of the clutter around the annual sites either. Some sites have tiny homes that were pulled in and look very much out of place for an RV resort. Overall, still worth a visit, but probably only a 3 star resort at best. PS: Food trucks were great👍

There used to be a train from KL right across the border into Thailand. After introduction of the ETS, the cross border trains were discontinued. Hat Yai is the largest city in southern Thailand. It's also a major transport hub to the holiday destinations and Thai island resorts. It's also a favourite holiday destination for Malaysians. So if in doubt, just follow where the majority of Malaysians are going😂.

Also, the scammers work together with the security guard that blocks the area when the train is coming, so the uniformed man stops the tourist and does not let them in the area of the train tracks. If that happens, access the area through the other access street.

Thinking of staying here. How was it during the stay? Would you recommend it to families? Were the rooms quiet and comfortable? I worry about room noise from people upstairs and in the hallway being in a hotel for so many nights.

Ee-myu is how Emu is pronounced... not ee-moo, there are no alligators in Australia, they are crocodiles...they are not the same thing. And as a pre-emptive move...a possum in Australia is not an o-possum Try to ask a local at one of the places you visit, I'm sure they will be perfectly happy to help so you don't keep completely butchering the names of towns, cities and animals. There comes a point where it starts to become rather insulting to the country you are visiting when this keeps persisting...how would you like it if someone kept butchering the name of the state you come from?, the city or town you live?, the animals you know and recognise daily?

Cairns, not “carns”, nor “kahns”. Some pronounce it like “cans” or “kanns” but most pronounce it “cairns” like it’s spelt. I acknowledge that the plural of a Scottish memorial rock pile, a cairn, is supposed to be pronounced “kahns” but that’s not how we pronounce the city in north Queensland. Ignorant Aussies? Maybe, but that’s the way it is.

The seal you saw at the northern VIP steps of the Opera House, otherwise unoccupied for the majority of the year, is the favourite sunbathing spot of a wild long-nosed fur seal, affectionately called 'Benny' (named after Bennelong Point). He's now world famous and has been there since 2014 sunbathing himself.
